Larry Crookshanks and his crew were phenomenal. We had a very complex roof with many issues. Larry's copper work was superior. I challenge anyone to find someone with more integrity or professionalism.

Larry Crookshanks, owner, was very professional and personable through the entire process and was easy to work with. Went on the roof and measured everything while other contractors estimated dimensions from the ground. His contract spelled everything out and broke out separate costs (cost of gutters, gutter guard, plywood, etc.) so I knew what options I had. Others gave me a lump sum quote. Employees were friendly, cooperative, and came to me asking what I wanted when they had options on how to do the job and didn’t just choose the most expensive option on their own. They did a very good job of cleaning up after every day’s work. After the job was completed and payment was made, I found a gap between two gutter guards where leaves could enter into the gutter and called the owner asking him to correct the situation. Within a couple of days, the problem was corrected. I also asked for a 3’ section of downspout to reroute a downspout discharge and I was given one. The gutter guard worked very well. I have a lot of maple trees with seeds and after a couple of heavy rains, the gutters and guards worked great. The gutter guards are metal perforated with a lot of ~3/32” holes that are too small for the seeds
Description of Work: I had two layers of shingles on a two story colonial with an attached one story garage. The two layers of shingles had to be removed and new shingles put on. I also needed all new gutters and downspouts with a gutter guard installed.

The roof leaked in the second year. Larry did come out and broke up the ice-d***, with a charge. Now in year 3 it was even worse, leaking inside the master bath to the point that the ceiling was going to buckle. I had to have electric wire installed to keep the ice from damming up. And I'm going to have to hire someone to fix the bathroom ceiling. There are discolorations on the ceiling in most rooms. I asked Larry for paperwork/invoice from the original job. Apparently, there isn't any, or he isn't giving it to me.... Since have no paperwork, I don't have any legal recourse. I'm broke, unemployed and single with a leaking roof.
Description of Work: My now Ex-husband was court-ordered to fix the roof. He hired Larry Crookshank's company.

Response from Crookshanks Architectural Roofworks
In 2008 the member's husband hired my company to tearoff the existing shingle roof and install 3' of ice shield at all gutter eave's and 3' in all valley's.We then installed a 30 year Certainteed Landmark shingle with full vent ridge(Certainteed Shinglevent II). We met the cost of the other contractor who also was going to install 3' of ice shield. The current roof has never had a leak during torrential rains. This leak is due to 9"s of ice at the 6' area up the roof at the valley intersect. The problem occurs during the winter because the attic lacks adequate insulation and soffit ventilation thus creating a warmer than usual attic. This creates large ice build up .We had no way of knowing this as the roof was installed during the summer and we were not told of any major ice concerns. This house has large 4' overhangs on all gutter eave's so there is no reason why it build's up ice other than the lack of insulation or insulation stuffed between rafter's without insulation baffles thus choking off air flow.I told Amber that we could add more ice shield (at an additional charge)but it may not be the cure for the overall problem. Their customer service was good. They came on time. They were efficient and completed the work within 2 days. They cleaned up after themselves. The outcome and appearance of the roof came out great. We were away and we didn't even know that they were here except for their sign.
Description of Work: Crookshanks Architectural Roofworks replaced the roof on my house.

Very clean work site, they took all the trash with them. Had I not known they were there, I wouldn't have been able to tell. They did an excellent job!

They are very polite, professional, and prompt. They came out when they said they would and they did excellent work. I haven't had any problems with them or with their work. They are great to deal with. I feel they are trustworthy and they follow through, their pricing seems to be reasonable.
Description of Work: They installed two attic fans.
