George was amazing. Truly. I’m not the one to leave reviews on companies, good or bad. However, we had exceptional service with Herczog. It was after hours when we needed help and he came as soon as he could. We, honestly, feared the worst—that with 5 little kids, we would have to wake them in the middle of the night to go to a hotel in order to have heat. Amazingly, George was able to fix our problem in no time. Our radiators are working fantastic with no water leakage. He explained why things happened the way they did. With any HVAC issues, we will ALWAYS call Herczog.

Friendly, knowledgeable, and able to thoroughly explain the issues to me. Completed the needed work promptly. Would definitely hire again. I could be happier with the service.

A competitor told us we needed a new furnace because of a cracked heat exchanger. Ted quickly ascertained that the heat exchanger was in good shape but the furnace was misadjusted. He adjusted the furnace and saved us thousands of dollars. Ted explained the problem well and also gave us advice about how to improve our existing HVAC system.

trying to get them to start the job was a problem: they preferred doing this work over winter when they’re less busy; our job started in Feb. they never return phone calls, in fact their voicemail is full so you can even leave a message. Larry in office seems embarrassed by the lack of professionalism-he will return calls. they were supposed to comeback out and connect the basement unit to a new addition we told them about and we are not important enough for them as they are too busy this time of year; we called throughout Oct and gave up in Dec and got someone else. we spent close to 30k with Herczog. we tried to settle up with them and the final price kept changing. we finally paid them after George came out, did the final walk through with us months later and re-laid the roll out insulation in our attic.

He is wonderful, he has been our go to man for the last 10 years. Their cost is very reasonable. I'd give Ted an A all the way around, he is the best. We use them all the time, and we will continue to do so. He is reliable, prompt and efficient and he solves the problem.

They were good. There's no vents in this house. It's a radiator house so adding air was a bit more complicated. They come and do checkups on the broiler from time to time. Punctuality is fine. Responsiveness is good.

Ted was prompt, courteous and instructive. The work was done when he said it would be by his two man crew assigned to us. They were clean and efficient and knew what they were doing. No problems. Didn't try to oversell.

Excellent response time and service. Even though it was Christmas Eve took the time to check to make sure the system was running correctly. No extra charge for weekend or holiday call.

Excellent service. They called back within 30min to let me know that they could do the job today and arrived within the alloted time frame. Diagnosed the issue, offered simple solutions and serviced the system immediately. Also very informative on what they were doing and why it was necessary, along with information on preventive maintenance and monitoring tips.

It indeed was the capacitor. Expecting this, I had checked prices and called more than 8 other Angie's list providers to get their bids for this Saturday service. Herczog was the ONLY one who did not try to rip me off as the other's estimates were from $125 to 250 higher for the exact same service! Plus, he came pretty quickly, was awesomely friendly and informed, and made my day! Thank God for an honest service provider who does what they say for a very fair price.

Our air conditioning system failed and we needed help. We called Herczog and they were at our place about 4 hours later. Will and Mike were extremely efficient, friendly, and personable. They went to great lengths to make sure everything was covered and showed us how to maintain the unit. They had it totally repaired in about 30 minutes. We would highly recommend Herczog.

Project went very well start to finish. They showed up as scheduled installed the units over three days and we now have a very comfortable home. They removed the old unites and cleaned up very nicely after themselves. I've used Herczog for service before, but not for an installation. Of the three estimates I got Herczog was the only one to tell me about the Dominion Good Cents program. I'll get a $400 rebate from them, thus lowering my overall cost to $6,600. New furnace, new A/C and a ten year parts and labor warranty. I am happy.

I recently purchased a home and the furnace in the home was previously serviced by Herzog. My Realtor actually made a comment that they were a wonderful company, which made me relieved. During our home inspection, the inspector noted that there was an odd noise coming from the furnace when he turned it on. We asked the seller to have the furnace serviced as a contingency for purchase. I received a copy of the receipt of service from Herzog and assumed all had been resolved as it stated the noise was gone after the servicing. After purchasing the home and turning on the heat for the first time, I found that the furnace was still making a very loud clanging noise when it kicked on until the temperature made it to the level I set the thermostat at. The noise sounded like it was coming from the exhaust fan, so I wasn't sure if that was maybe something Herzog couldn't service. I called Herzog (and regret now that I cannot remember which gentleman I spoke with) to let them know of the noise and the fact that I had a receipt from their recent service job and I asked if they could come back to see what was wrong. They told me over the phone that even if the noise was the exhaust fan, that was under their jurisdiction and they could take a look at it. We scheduled an appointment for Oct 11th at 9am, which really made me happy because it was a Saturday morning and I didn't need to take off work. At noon on the 11th, I finally left my house to run errands as I was tired of sitting around waiting. No one ever showed up, or even called to reschedule. It has been 10 days and I have not heard from them. Since then, I have contracted with another company. To say I am disappointed in the lack of responsiveness of Herzog is an understatement.

Ted Herzog and his team are great. He is very knowledgeable and clearly takes pride in his work. The two workmen who came to the house were prompt and courteous. We plan to leave the floor joists and duct work exposed, and it was important to us to have everything looking as minimal and streamlined as possible. Job took 3.5 days and everything was finished to my specifications. Mr. Herzog came out a few weeks later to replace the humidifier filter and he stopped to do some finishing touches to make the job 100% to his satisfaction. Could not be happier with the service.

Ted returned my call promptly, set expectations clearly, didn't waste any time on the job, didn't sell unnecessary extras, and most importantly got our A/C working. Well done.

They have replaced my hvac systems and keep my home furnace and a/c running for over twenty years. Always fair with pricing. Always professional. Ted has come up with creative solutions to situations to save me money. Wonderful company!!

I've had a couple of positive experiences with Herczog Heating and Cooling. The most recent was a furnace that wasn't working. Because this was in a home that we had recently purchased I first called our home warranty company. The firm they sent to fix the furnace told us that it had to be replaced. While the warranty company would have covered $600 it would have cost me an additional $1,000. I called Ted to have him do the work of replacing the furnace and he insisted on doing his own inspection first. His inspection revealed that he problem was a finicky gas valve and that the furnace didn't need to be replaced. I saved a huge amount of money and will always call Ted for my HVAC needs.

We would never use or recommend this company again, because of highly unprofessional behavior. When we first called, Ted Herzog, the owner, came promptly to give an estimate for installing an air conditioning system into our old house with steam heat. Two days later, we called him to say that we wanted to go ahead. However, we had told him that we have visitors coming, and although he said he was very busy, he implied the job would be late May or early June. Nonetheless, when we didn't hear from him, and since our first visitors were going to be coming, we called him to get a date for when he would begin work. He never responded to a total of 4 calls over a period of ONE MONTH! The next to last call, we explained that we were going to have a visitor with serious health problems and therefore really needed to know a date. There was still no response. Finally, I called one morning to tell him that if he didn't call back with an explanation, I was going to lodge a complaint with Angie's list and with a real estate agent who recommended him. This time he called back in less than 2 hours, and insisted that he had told us how busy he was. However, the key point is that he never called back to let us know how much longer we would have to wait, so that we could decide whether we should find somebody else. In the meantime, the weather was getting warmer and it would be more difficult for us to find anyone who could do the installation once hot weather began. Fortunately, we did find another contractor who is going to do the work.

Herczog Heating and Cooling replaced a very old and inefficient furnace in October 2013 and added an air conditioning system in May 2014. The same crew did both installs. Everything went flawlessly. Everyone I have dealt with at the company has been courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. The work was done promptly and affordably. Ted Herczog is very easy to work with and does not attempt to convince you to purchase more than you need. Thus, the cost of the installation was quite reasonable.

Called and asked how we got his name. husband told him Angies list.Then asked what work was needed to be done. He said I think I got a guy who might be able to do this on Saturday. Never heard anything again.

They're very punctual, professional and have good follow up. They do a really clean job.

It went well, intitially trying to repair fan in AC unit, but ultimately failed. He came back a couple weeks later and ended up having to replace the motor for less than he had quoted me when came the first time, waiving the service call charge because he had been here a couple weeks previously. They came out a couple years ago for a furnace problem, ended up being an easy fix and he didn't even charge me anything. Very honest, trustworthy operation.

I have used Ted since he was a kid and used his dad before him. They are hard working, professional, decent, punctual and generally wonderful to deal with. On July 4th about 20 years ago my air conditioning went out and it was about 150 degrees in my home. Ted showed up within an hour and fixed it. They have replaced my unit over the years and I have never had a problem with any work they do. The only downside is that they are always super busy. You might have to wait for a maintenance call but Ted will do his best to accommodate you if there is a true emergency. They are the best of the best!

They were absolutely excellent. They returned our calls. They were very professional. They explained everything. The owner or the owner's son was always reachable. They were just a wonderful, wonderful company. I do believe they gave us a really good deal. There were parts to the furnace that had been repaired in the last year and they were able to use those when they could've said we needed all new parts. I think the pricing was pretty good. They were always very on time. I will definitely use them again and refer them to anybody.
