Unfortunately, he's a very nice man but his schematic design of the deck with the backyard perspectives were not of high quality graphic designs. I emailed him that I was displeased with the design and I used the word "cartoonish" looking. He was offended by the word and I had to email him to apologize for the word because I couldn't find a synonym that best described the graphic design of the deck. I explained to him that I'm a visual learner and I need to see that the drawing had the door to the deck all the windows to the deck, the views of the left, right, front and a clear bird's eye view. The graphic design did not include those items and he got annoyed with me requesting those items in the design. I ended feeling that if his graphic design was not up to par, then I could only imagine him building the deck not to my liking. He's a very nice in person but I can see he lacks computer graphic skills.

I called three companies to bid on this project based upon their reviews on Angie's List. I remember that when Bill first returned my call, he said that this project was right in his "wheel-house." That turned out to be 100% true. Bill came out to my house within a day or two of my first call, and I was immediately impressed by his customer-focused attitude. That customer friendly attitude continued for the entire duration of the project. He intently listened to my ideas, answered all of my questions, gave me additional ideas and points to consider and provided a computer-generated drawing of his design. He happily worked with me on suggested changes, and gave me options to consider at different price points. He quickly obtained the necessary building permit and his team went right to work on the project. He exceeded my expectations as to the quality of work and timeliness. We had an extremely rainy April and he kept me fully informed of when he was arriving on site due to the rain. He also checked in with me at the end of each day - summarizing the work that was done that day and the work I could expect to be done the next day. He was happy to address all questions and make any necessary adjustments. He installed black aluminum balusters instead of more typical wood balusters. The aluminum balusters give the deck a more modern look and feel. When the project was complete, he took the time to come over to the house on a Saturday morning to review the completed project with me and answer all questions. He left the project site spotless with no scraps of wood or nails left behind in the grass. He sanded the floor boards to make sure they were all even and rounded all of the railings. I could not be happier with the new deck or the process of working with Bill and his team.

The gentleman came several times. He was thorough and answered our questions. He accommodated our suggestions and the changes we made. He told us what made our choices good and why something else could be better. The quote was very detailed; it had a list of the materials, labor cost, and time frame. He sent it through email a couple of days after he came on site.

I spoke with the copany and they told me that they did not do the design I wanted or small jobs like mine.

When starting a major project, I usually get three quotes and accept the middle price. In this case, Bill Higham had quoted the highest price. We accepted his quote because my wife and I had a feeling about him with the way he presented the construction proposal. He was very thorough. I can honestly say Bill did not disappoint. Our porch is decent size and he finished in two days. He and Eddie, his apprentice, provided excellent workmanship, gave explanations as the work progressed and did a great lob of clean-up. They showed up for work when they said they would except one day they were a half hour late. Bill emailed me in the morning to alert me they would be late. Throughout the whole process, I thought I was dealing with someone in a different profession rather than construction. Many of you know what I mean by that comment. I would not hesitate to recommend Bill Higham for any carpenter needs.

They responded to my initial request for an estimate very quickly and were able to provide an estimate and 3-d rendering of the proposed project it a timely manner. They were able to design the deck to meet both our desired size and budget. Once we got the permits from the city, work began quickly. The came out and removed the existing deck and got started on the new deck right away. Everything was completed as expected and we were very happy with the final product.

Bill Higham carefully explained all options and answered all of our questions. He was very patient and knowledgeable about the material and the work to be done. The job proceeded as expected and we are very happy with the results. The new deck surface is still in like-new condition after nearly 3 years. We were very pleased with all aspects of his work.

They came out for a consultation and design for tear out and construction of new deck. They were timely, efficient and creative.

I was not real happy with the plans. I was not able to use them. The images were backwards from my original ask. I asked to have them switched and never did get that update. I also asked for a specific size of deck the designer recommended I go smaller based on the budget I provided. After the fact I should have got the drawing to the size I wanted originally asked for. I did not mind working over the internet. The designer did not have to come to my house for this design challenge. The drawings I received were not usable in the end. I could not decipher how the desk was to be constructed. I did get a part list for the deck. I was happy to get that with my design. I have decided to look for additional designers to help with the deck design. I am sure that this designer is good and have no ill will against him. I believe I did not state my expectations before I had the drawings made.

They did a very good job and it was very detailed. He got the schematic back to me in a decent period of time. I just spent the amount for the big deal purchase. I would use them to get another schematic. I wasn't looking for anything more than that.

Bill was an excellent contractor to do business with. Not only was he On time he was early. He was always available to answer any questions we had. Our new deck is beautiful and we will be doing business with him again.

The gentleman was professional and did what he was asked to do. The deck that needs replacing was small and not much information was added. I felt like I paid for what any contractor would have done for free with a written estimate. Someone who has a larger or more complicated deck may find this service helpful.

I had to have a rotting porch railing and posts replaced. I contacted Higham Construction and Bill came out to look at my problem. He was the only contractor that I contacted that took the time to come out talk to me about my situation. Bill explained why the porch was rotting and options to prevent that in the future. He discussed several options and priced them all out for me. Once a selection was made Bill communicated with me through out the process. The work was done in 1 day and Bill came back to make sure that the job was done right. The porch looks great! The job was done at a fair price. I would highly recommend Higham Construction!

Bill Higham was very responsive and meet with me and my husband every time he came to our house. He was the lowest of three estimates and worked with us on any questions we had. He was very willing to make any necessary changes we made to color and design changes. He and his work team were very professional and clean. He completed the work in a timely fashion. I would definitely recommend him and consider him for future work.

Bill is very professional, punctual, and reasonably priced. If he had to re-schedule he gave me ample notice. He was honest about what needed to get done and helped me prioritize my laundry list of things I wanted to accomplish. I will be using his services again in the future. Overall, my experience was exceptional.

We decided to go with Higham Construction because their price was very reasonable and they were able to complete the project in a timely fashion. We are really glad we did because the overall quality surpassed our expectation!! On the day of estimate walkthrough, Bill was professional and informative. We had some preliminary ideas on the layout of deck and Bill was more than happy to work with us on the design. Based on our requirements, Bill later sent over a computerized model of the deck which really helped us visualize the end result and put things into the perspective. After we signed the contract, Bill and his team immediately got to work with permits and paperwork. The project began a week later per our initial agreed upon date and the deck was completed that same week! We weren't always around the house to see the project through completion but Bill was always available to provide updates and progress on the project. This was a big plus for us as it provided ease of mind. Overall we are extremely satisfied with Bill and his team's work. On top of it, we've been getting quite a lot of complements from friends and neighbors. We will definitely consider Higham Construction for any future projects!

Bill and his team were punctual, informative, very reasonably priced, and very meticulous. Bill came out to give us the estimate and explained exactly how he was going to install the deck. He explained the differences with natural wood as opposed to composite which we really appreciated. He was patient when we asked questions and spent time answering them. Bill went out of his way to make sure that we understood exactly how the deck was being built and were satisfied with the plans. Bill did not rush to give us a square foot estimate on the spot. Better yet, he went home and did a layout of the deck and gave us a price based on the actual material that would be needed to complete the project. Along with his estimate he sent two computer generated pictures of what the deck would look like. The job went smoothly and he was able to complete the project ahead of time. Overall my wife and I could not be happier with the finished deck and will enjoy it for many years to come. Bill takes much pride in his work. I would highly recommend Higham Construction to others. It was an extreme pleasure working with Bill and his team!

We had three companies come out to discuss this project. One didn't build screened-in porches and tried to talk us out of the project. The other two (including Higham) were comparably priced, but we went with Bill Higham because he seemed so enthusiastic about the project. He was very honest, tried to find ways to save us money on the project, and was very responsive. When we finally decided to move forward on the project, he kept us in the loop every step of the way. Unlike others we've had out for projects, Bill took care of getting the HOA approval. There were some permitting snags with the city that caused the project to get delayed, but Bill worked through them and was diligent in letting us know what was going on. When they started work, the crew was very professional. I never saw anyone smoke and I never found any cigarettes, which is a first for anyone we've had come out to do work for us. Bill was working on the project most days and would update me each day on what would come next. One of the biggest positives about working with Bill was that he was easy to go to with a problem. This can be important in a project this big, because sometimes there were things we wanted to change or things we wanted a certain way or small issues that came up. Even if he disagreed with us on something, he was professional, polite, and would do it our way without any issue. He always answered our questions and never seemed annoyed. After the project was complete and he had been paid, he continued to be responsive. A few issues came up and he immediately came out and addressed them. I have complete faith in his warranty and him if any future problems arise. Overall, the project turned out great. We love using the porch and guests continue to rave about it. Bill was an absolute pleasure to work with and, although I am glad the project is finally finished, I can honestly say I miss our daily morning chats! I highly recommend him.

Bill came out for an estimate right away...Was very prompt..Answered all of our questions regarding dismantling of the old deck and the install of the new one.....He e-mailed me a photo of the new steps he proposed to install..Also gave me a contract that listed everything he was going to do in detail.. Everything was cleaned up very well...No nails or parts laying around... I had one issue with him which was the steps that were installed...We were not happy with the way they looked...He was really understanding and came back out and re made them and installed.... He did not ask for his payment till all the work was completed to our satifaction......I would definaltely call him in the future...

I never heard back from them regarding a quote for a deck. Very disappointing especially since they are literally down the street from where I live.

I used a $49 Angie's List Big Deal special offer for this service. I did not purchase the deck from him; I am going to wait and do that next year. The person who came out seemed like a good and reasonable guy. He said if I called him a year from now he would still honor the quote and work with me. He was a really nice guy who knew what he was talking about. He knew the different products that he worked with and was able to recommend several things relative to what I wanted to do. I do plan to use him next year when I want to build the deck. I was satisfied with his service.

The work was done quickly and the quality was excellent. The owner worked with me on the designs and was receptive to changes. The building permits were obtained quickly and work began and was completed quickly. Communication was excellent. I knew what to expect and when to expect it. An appointment was made and kept to clear up a few minor problems with the skirting on one deck. At that time a defect in one of the deck boards that arose as the board dried was noted by the owner and the board was replaced. The work crew was polite and professional.

Called the company to request an appointment. Bill came out within a few days, that met my scheduling needs. He went over everything that needed to be done. He recommended ways for me to save money. He created the perfect deck and had the information sent to me within a week.
