Brookside Lawn Service

In early April 2024, I shopped for a reliable lawn care service for our home in Medina. After touching base with several lawn care companies, I settled on Brookside Lawn Service. Brookside Lawn Service selling points. 1) Friendly and Knowledgeable consumer service. 2) Competitive pricing. 3) "They will make it Right" 4) Great Lawn Technician- Friendly and helpful. Our first lawn application was on Thursday and by Sunday, I could see the weeds dying off and the grass a healthy green. Dave Pfeiffer Medina, Ohio

They called and left a voicemail stating they are coming out to my house to take care of our weeds. We never called them for services nor do we need them. They are over an hour away from us. When I called the company just kept getting VM. Be aware of this company seems like the are out to scam people.

Company has gone downhill. Awesome and service the first few years. Not happy with service last year And a huge price increase this year. They came out to fertilize late in the season when there was snow on the ground and it was Mid December. Their “free service calls” consist of you are on the schedule and nothing extra ever takes place other than your normally scheduled treatments. I cancelled my service with them on 02/09/2022. On 03/01/2022 they came out and treated my lawn anyways. I called them immediately once I saw this. They acknowledged that they came out in error. Instead of removing the charges they offered to split the bill which is absolutely ridiculous. Once I said I was not paying it the tone of the customer service representative changed and he told me to have a good day. Then he tried hanging up without resolving the issue. I asked to speak to the owner or a manager and one was not available. I asked for their contact information and he was not authorized to give that information out which is a complete joke. I asked to get a call from one of them and was denied that as well. Do yourself a favor and choose another company. There are cheaper options out there and you will save yourself the headache of dealing with their customer service representatives who claim customers don’t leave their company and don’t take responsibility for the company’s error.

Was a 10 year customer. In a spring application, they burned out parts of my lawn. They respond sorry, it will get better if you water it a bunch. I said, things happen, I get it but I'm not paying for that application. They say, we'll give you an extra fall application. I said, no- you have to make me whole for the present and then we can talk about the future. Some manager says " well put your account on hold until this gets resolved". Another month goes by and they finally agree. I say, ok, you made me whole, you can start up again. So now they say they will at a rate 33% higher. Lol. Plus there is a different person involved every time. Very tough company to deal with. Rather than ding the tech who burned my lawn and take it out of his pay, they give me the run around for two months then Jack my rates up. Update - now after Melinda Clutter ( who 3 times said: let be honest. I said please be honest the whole time) says "oh yeah i see where we said we would put your account on hold" and "I'll look into this and talk to Jason and get back to you"; "we want your business" - they never got back.

Had them for 4 seasons. I cancelled this season 2019 in writing as their policy states. They acknowledged receiving the written request. They kept trying to want to continue services. I never authorized they left messages that they will treat if I don't call, even though they have a written request to stop. They still came out in May and treated anyway. They are claiming they said they will treat even though I cancelled in writing. Thy are claiming when tech came out my wife was home told them not to since it was raining and she called the office to tell them they have to do it another day. Mind you she does not get involved or knows which company does what service to lawn maintenance, cutting and bug treatment, I handle all. Based on this confusion they took it as she authorized them to come out after they confirmed receiving written cancellation of services in February. Now they sent amount billed for unauthorized services to collection. They are leaving me no choice but to take legal action for performing unauthorized services, trespassing and applying treatment over and above what my other lawn maintenance service has already done causing damage to grass. as far as when we had them service was decent but it seems they don't go by their own policies when it comes to canceling services. I would not recommend for that reason.

Excellent. The guy took their time to address our needs and to treat the grass and weeds. A 180 degree departure from the corporate brand we previously used!

Went great. Just had the first application done so far. After applying the dry fertilizer, they even used a leaf blower to blow the excess fertilizer off my driveway and sidewalks. No company has ever done that before for me. I look forward to their next applications.

They are all about customer service. They are always very professional.

Our yard has shown large areas of grass torn up by animals due to grub infestation, although we clearly discussed about this before the season started (we knew from the previous year about the problem and they said then that they were not aware of this at the start of that season) and were assured that it won't happen again. Weeds dominated the lawn for a while (the quality of their materials could be better, may be). Also, we paid for aeration which was done only on part of the property.

I cannot recommend this service provider. I used them for a couple of years during which time I still struggled with weeds and areas of my lawn which did not get consistent treatment. Initially, I had the same employee do the service and he was very consistent. The price for the service was nearly twice what I paid TruGreen but they told me my lawn would look better. After he left the company, I seemed to have someone different all of the time and that is when the quality degraded. After cancelling my service, they showed up again not once but twice the next year and then expected me to pay for it. Like other reviews I have read, their office team was not professional in handling my calls and was argumentative. I told them I had cancelled my service at the end of the prior year. Their rationale for coming the next year was that I had not contacted them when they sent out a letter at the beginning of the season and that I needed to tell them upon receiving that letter that I did not want the service for that year as they 'automatically renew'. Given that I had already cancelled my service that the end of the prior year, I did not see any reason to contact them again and tell them AGAIN that I did not want them coming back. When I cancelled, I advised them that I was not happy with their service. When they did the service in April, I contacted them and again told them to stop. Then, when they did it again in May, I could not believe it! I contacted the office and they told me they expected me to pay for both service calls. I was very unhappy with how many times I needed to contact them to get them to stop the service and stop contacting me about paying for a service I did not authorize. I have spoken with two neighbors who seemed to have similar experiences.

We signed up for the annual service which included treatments throughout the year (when there isn't snow on the ground) focusing on what was needed for that time of year. They were very thorough. Well worth the money. Beats those national chains (ie Tru Green) hands down.

They were nice to work with when starting the process. Had an intro offer for new customers. We went with their 5 plan with grub prevention. Yard look really nice for the most part even though we had a pretty hot and dry summer. Only complaint would be the first visit they ran over a downspout in our backyard. Cody, who is amazing, quickly came back out and replaced it. Then, on our last treatment they ran over the dog's stake that we hook the lead up to. So it was bent. Needless to say we weren't too happy knowing this was the second time in one year they did this. Again, Cody came out, very apologetic and made it right by getting us a new one. Moral of the story, they stand behind their products and when they make a mistake, they fix it. Which, to me, is what matters most. Tells me a lot about their character as a company.

Excellent service. They are on time very professional and clean up after they are done. Lawn was in sorry shape when they started in early spring but now looks great! I've used other national service providers in the past but none were even close to the professionals from Brookside. Give them my highest recommendation.

The owner called us to see how well we were pleased. They are a great company to work with. I would love to do a commercial for them.

Execellent service. Brookside over the years has helped us change our 2 acres from brush and poison ivy into a beautiful property. Professional staff from office to the technicians who come to our home.

They do good work and take care of scheduling. Also, they offer billing options; one of which if you opt to pay annually they offer a discount for service. I wouldn't use anyone else.

We have a yearly contract with them. I just pay a flat amount. Usually, it is about $55 or $65 a call. They do a good job. We have been using them for a number of years now. I do not have any problem with them.

I have had them for years. They are a good company and they care. They send out little notes and things about what they did when they were here. They will work with you if you don’t want to spray for grubs. They have plans that you can choose from and they do other things too. It is a seasonal contract. They don’t call you; they will just tell you that they will start up automatically. I think they are educated and trained in their field and I think they do a good job and they make suggestions and offer any help that you might need.

I've had used them for Lawn fertilization/ weed control and Tree and Shrub fertilization for the past two (2) years. The entire staff is courteous and professional and they are punctual in their lawn application schedules. I discontinued the Tree and Shrub care since I didn't see much of a difference in the health of my tree and shrubs with the applications, but have used them for the lawn - weed 'N feed control. B+ rating.

Brookside has provided no lawn service for our home since 2012, and yet somehow they felt they were eligible to arbitrarily restart service on our home without any authorization from me or my wife whatsoever in april of 2014. On July 9th 2014 @ 2:40pm (Rhonda) from Brookside collections department left me a detailed voicemail (of which I have saved as evidence) letting us know that and quot;There may be an error on their partand quot; and that we need to call her back and get this bill starightened out to avoid having them noitify all the credit bureaus of our alleged and quot;deliquencyand quot; of $57.78. That same day my wife called and spoke to Rhonda at Brookside in an effort to explain their obvious error. My wife told her (Rhonda) that we discontinued their service in 2012. Rhonda (from Brookside) even acknowledged that they have the records where we spoke to one of their lawn techs BEFORE the start of the 2013 application season and notified him that we switched companies. Rhonda also stated that 2014 was a new season and that they were entitled to payment (even though my wife explained to her we never authorized any lawn service from them since 2012). Rhonda left the call letting my wife know that she will review the matter with her manager. Today we still continue to get invoices and harassing phone calls informing us of our erroneous delinquency. At this point the actions of Brookside can be described as no less than and quot;extortionand quot; ,as they are they are threatning to notify credit bureaus of our erroneous delinquency caused by their own error. How can a company that conducts business like this remain in business?? Pehaps thats why they have an abnormally high percentage of people rating them in the D-F grading category on Angies list. BUYER BEWARE!!!

I will be in a better position to evaluate at the end of the season; but so far I have been very pleased with the service (my lawn looks very good) and the personnel (pleasant, informative and professional).

Awesome. Hardly even knew that they were here. Gave me feedback about my lawn and what I can do in the future to keep improving it.

The first two applications have been completed and the appearance of the grass is improving.

I've been a satisfied customer over 8 years. There has never been any let downs, always reliable and consistent.

Their early application was very late- as a result they are just now applying the pre-emergent treatment- what this means is that I cannot repair the areas that need re-seed for at least 4-6 weeks (their estimate) or better yet- according to them in the fall! In spite of their treatments my lawn is full of dandillions for the first time in years. They claim that there is no way to undo this. I hardly think having a lousy looking lawn as a result of their poor management is my issue. I would like them to resolve this so I can plant and repair my yard- however they cannot undo the damage or timing They were supposed to be at my house yesterday morning but actually showed up at 4pm today. I made it clear that I wanted to discuss the issues. They are supposed to be the experts. I asked that they not bill me for the service
