I was really impressed with On the Fence, starting at the estimate and through job completion. I had 4-5 companies out to estimate a variety of fence types (chain link, wood, and vinyl), and ultimately decided to use On the Fence for a few reasons: 1) price, 2) the vinyl material they install, and 3) because they went above and beyond during the estimation. My big concern was choosing a fence that would help keep our cats contained in our backyard, and initially I was looking at getting a special type of cat fencing to install in addition to our new fence. None of the companies had heard of the cat fencing, but only one, On the Fence, took the time to research the cat fencing, call the manufacturer, and quote an install price. I ultimately decided I didn't need the special cat fencing, but I was really impressed with the time On the Fence took to answer my questions (via both calls and e-mails) and help me come to the right decision with respect to the type of fence to install. On the Fence also was patient while I took the time to research the vinyl fence manufacturer - I spent a lot of time speaking with the manufacturer directly to ask questions about the material and hardware. The manufacturer is local, which was a plus for us as well. I signed the contract in mid-December and the fence was installed in mid-January during a week when it got "warm". Ron, one of the owners, and another gentlemen, came out and completed the install in about a week. Both worked very hard and got a lot done each day, in spite of the cold temps. They answered all my questions during install and cleaned up each day. They were able to get the fence tight to the property line (I had a survey done prior to the fence install) and without huge gaps at the bottom while keeping the slope along the top of the fence nice. I was leery of a winter install, but it worked out better because the yard wasn't a complete mud pit afterward. They just had to add something to the concrete so it hardened in the colder temps. After the work was complete, they came out to finish up a couple of minor things they couldn't do because of the weather. They have also been good about following up periodically to make sure I am happy with the fence and it's functioning as expected. They do offer a warranty on their labor (don't remember how long) and I have no doubt Ron would come out to fix something if it wasn't working. I also referred a friend and got a $50 check for the referral, which was nice. Overall, I'm very happy with the fence install. The only critique I have is that I wish along the back line they had made the panels more evenly spaced. They started with a normal sized panel in one corner and ended up with two smaller panels in the other corner. I'm somewhat anal, so it bothers me that the panels aren't evenly spaced, but it's something I can live with. Also, this is not a critique of On the Fence, but a comment on the vinyl fence: the material itself is durable and high quality, but it is difficult to keep clean. Grass sticks to it and doesn't come off easily, even with powerwashing. You have to scrub the fence to loosen the grass to get it off, and even then, it still sticks. I thought a vinyl fence would be somewhat low maintenance, but it's turned out to be a pain (if you care about a clean fence).

They are great! Helpful, friendly, responsive. The wooden privacy fence was difficult due to the surrounding properties -- they worked with us to get it done, and came out to make an adjustment. We are completely satisfied with this company and the service they provided.

These guys are great. From my intial contact with them to the completion of the project they are first class. I can assure you that I will not use another fencing company again. You will deal with the owners directly and they are committed to satisfaction.

Fantastic service. The price quote was by far one of the best, and Meghan then gave us a little break anyway. She was prompt, polite, funny, well-spoken, responsive, and did not try to bully us into choosing them (the problem local fence companies tend to have). Everyone arrived on the scheduled date; they cleared our messy trees/branches/broken deer fence on Monday, put in posts on Tuesday, finished the fence on Thursday. On Friday, I discovered that some branches were left in the back yard, in the bushes; Ronnie came out om Saturday and picked them up. The fence looks beautiful; we were told to call if any problems arise, and I am sure that they would address them promptly. Today, we got a gift card from them in the mail, for Panera. What a surprise, what perfect customer service! I want to hire them to do everything. Too bad they only build fences!

This has to be one of the best experiences in working with a contracted service company. From the very first meeting in person, communication was excellent. My husband and I were doing a lot of work on a newly purchased home so the work and funds needed to be budgeted among all of the contractors. OTF was willing to do part of the work originally requested and re-negotiated the original quote. A date was set for installation, just so happened it was the first bitter cold day with lots of heavy snow. The "installer" was there as scheduled with all of the equipment and materials dropped off separately. I would not say I change my mind often but as the snow flew, I looked at the color of the chain link fence I had ordered, and knew it was not right (it was my choice of color not their suggested choice). I panicked and decided to just ask the contractor if there was anything to be done about this. Calmly he (as it turns out he was the owner) said give me a few minutes (it is now really snowing with predictions only to get worse over the next few days). The fence color had been a special order so a restocking fee would apply and the new choice was a heavier gauge (small increase). Great but that did not help the owner who now had to deal with all the fencing, cement, and other materials lying on the ground and the loss of a day's work. Without a trace of rancor or impatience he moved all of it into the garage and said he would get back (a day is needed for setting cement and then another for the fence installation). I returned a few days later to find it all done and looking great. It was beyond a good experience working with the On the Fence folks, would recommend them over and over again.

We were extremely happy with the fence that they installed. We got a board on board fence and it looks beautiful. They are very friendly and kept in touch with us to let us know exactly when if would be installed and it was done very quickly. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a fence

From the beginning we had a great experience. The sales representative, who is one of the owners, came out and went over the options with us patiently. She took her time explaining why the vinyl was a good option (since it's so much less upkeep than wood and more private than chain link). While we only got 1 line of fence, we still felt valued even though our job was small. The company stayed in contact throughout the permit process and when they ordered materials. We got our fence installed within 3-4 weeks from when we signed the sales contract--one of the other companies who quoted us, and had a higher quote, told us they couldn't do the installation until later in the fall since it was a small job. The installation went very well and the installer was careful not to use his digging machine too close to the lines marked by the utility company. After we paid, the company even sent us a thank you letter and a $5 gift card to Panera to thank us for our business, along with a survey. We give them top marks on the whole job!

We were impressed by both the price and the installation-the price was less than most of the other quotes we got and the installation was fantastic. The installer was extremely knowledgeable and experienced. The company responded quickly to all questions we had and were very attentive throughout the whole process. We would absolutely use them again if we need another fence!
