With ten-plus years of professional carpentry experience, on-going research of new technology, and major investments in state of the art equipment, we have mastered this trade. Today, we bring this new, but “old-fashioned” way of thinking to you.
As our company and reputation has grown, we have created a nationwide corporation that is currently expanding throughout Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina and Ohio as Window Makeover. What makes Window Makeover unique is we are truly specialists: window restoration is all we do. These years of concentrated effort and experience have blessed us with the opportunity to lead the window restoration industry.
Over the years we have created a unique and innovative line of window restoration products that not only restore the window you have to its original condition, but we can also improve the efficiency and function of your window without replacement.
A few weeks after initial measurements were taken and replacement double-panes were made, the installation went very smoothly. The interior cross bars (lattice?) of the new panes were very close in color to the originals. The crew worked very quietly, and kept both the inside and outside work areas very clean; the installation created no dust, and only two pieces of very small debris were left behind. This was certainly not like having windows installed. The pictures I've added show the before and after of one repaired window pane. It is representative of all five panes. I felt the repair option was better for me than to face a total replacement of three effected windows. Mine are NuSash windows, and that company is no longer in business. I wanted to retain the look of those installed windows (1979) rather than have to replace 17 windows. Window Makeover did an excellent job for me, offering a high quality repair solution versus total window replacement.
Description of Work: I needed five double-pane windows repaired; seals had let go, moisture allowed inside the panes.

Window Make Over set up an appointment for measuring and marking the leaking panes. They notified me of approximately when the new panes would be ready for installing. A check for half of the estimate was required. First appointment for installing panes didn't work out for them (running late) and we rescheluded. No problem on second appointment date/time.
Description of Work: I had two lower window panes that were leaking and had moisture between glass layers. Needed a replacement pane in each. After a discussion with staff on the nature of the repair and if they would consider the job (replacment of two panes is not a big job) we moved forward.

This was one of the best experiences I have had in the carpentry field. I had a large palladian window that had a rotted out sill. The estimates I got to replace it were in the $4000-6000 range so I looked into other options. I called Window Makeover and they were very responsive right from the start. Jake was honest and reliable and answered all my concerns when he came out. While he was here, I asked if they could also install a large 3-panel door that I was having alot of trouble getting installed because it was so heavy and needed to come up a flight of back steps. He considered the job carefully and said they could do it. Jake told me from the outset it would take about 8 weeks before the installs would happen, and everything happened exactly as he said it would. All along the way, everyone I dealt with was courteous, honest, and professional. The actual installs went well and that is saying alot, because these were two very difficult jobs. They sent two crews due to the manpower needed. The crew from Indiana was headed up by a very resourceful carpenter, Pedro, who was great at solving problems. All four men, including Ivan, Brian and Eddie were as nice and professional as can be and I had alot of confidence that they could handle these jobs. The large window was a daunting task because of how heavy it was but they got it in with no hitches. They replaced all the old wood around it with composite that won't rot (thankfully!). The door install was equally difficult, but they hauled it up the back steps with little complaint. There was some rot under the old door and they went to work to pull out the old wood and replace that also with composite, and they did not bat an eyelash or charge me extra. These guys worked hard all day with only a very short break to eat lunch in their trucks. And even though it clearly took longer than anticipated and two of them had to drive back to Indiana, I did not get the sense at any point that they were rushing through a problem just to get it done. They constantly cleaned up after themselves and left my place spotless. I predict that this is a company that is going places because they offer a unique service that can save customers thousands of dollars (it did for me) in a market of overpriced windows.

Several of the windows they completed were acceptable. Others were mis-installed leaving gaps allowing moisture, rain, cold air inside. Quality control/ review non-existent. We've tried to contact them for 8+ months with 5 phone calls and not 1 call has been returned. They simply don't care about correcting the problem. The window is worse than before they did the work and now we have moisture damage and mold.
Description of Work: We used these guys for a couple window rebuilds. Quality was generally adequate but they mis-installed one of our windows leaving 1/4" gaps around several areas. Cold air, rain, leaks, terrible. The worst part is in the 8+ months since they've done the work, we've called no less than 5 times to request they fix it and we have yet to even get a return call. I couldn't recommend this company less if I tried.

I found them through Angie's List. It required a set of follow-up calls which I was not sure why. I just felt the sales guy handed it off to the foreman or something like that. The foreman came out and looked at it and I didn't hear anything. I waited for probably about 3 weeks. I called them back and they got on it. I don't know if there was a disconnect there or just the natural way the business works. They finally made a great job. Once we got the project moving, they coordinated it with me and all other stuff.
Description of Work: I used Window Makeover. They replaced the outside window sill.
Description of Work: They replaced rotten wood in the external frames of Semco wood windows made in late 1993 and installed in new home construction in the spring of 1994. The replacement material they use is a hybrid plastic made in the same configuration as the original they replace. The process replaces the rotten wood without disturbing the interior pieces of the window. At a cost of $350 it is about 25% of a replacement wood window of lesser quality. They currently do it for Semco, and I believe Anderson and Pella brands. The company and their employees are very professional.

It was okay. I paid them in due and the service was not complete until several months later. The person who took the order and the money on behalf of the company withheld information with him. It wasn't entirely the fault of the company. Once they realized the problem they were very responsive and the work was pretty good.

Description of Work: They manufactured and replaced 7 sashes (duplicating the original Semco brand that were deteriorating after 17 years), and rebuilt one frame and sill. |All went well: very efficient on the inspection, estimating. 6 weeks quoted for manufacturing and met the deadline. One slow spot was, understandably, they would not schedule the installation until it was certain production was complete. Gap of three weeks from production completion to installation. |Their products and abilities allowed me to deal with specific windows and repair those, rather than have to replace all 14 windows with new so they matched on the front of my home, saving thousands of dollars. |

Description of Work: They replaced the wood rotten sills and outer frames with a wood/fiberglass type composite. It is rot proof, holds its shape well in temperature variations and paints well. The workers are excellent. The only problem is getting them to do the work. They are so good that they are back ordered for over a month. They do Anderson, Pella, Semco wood windows. I have ordered 5 more windows repaired and will have to wait for early November to get the work done.

We were given an estimate June 16th and paid half that day by credit card. Several weeks later, the person to taking the measurements came to the house and told us the price we had been quoted was wrong and that it would be higher. We contacted the salesperson who gave us the estimate and after several attempts, finally heard from him that yes, the price would be higher. We contacted the headquarters in Indiana, who referred us to the owner in Cincinnati. After two attempts and messages, he returned the call and said that we had a choice: pay the higher price or have the money we paid refunded. After some discussion about contracts, and no agreement on the owner's part to uphold the signed contract we had, we opted for the refund. In August, we still had not seen a refund on our credit card statement. After another call to the company around August 22, we were told we would receive a letter about a refund. As of today, August 27, we have not had any letter nor have we seen a refund of the amount paid in June.
Description of Work: Provided an estimate, quoted a price on a written contract, took a payment for half of the total charged, and measured windows.

I contacted Window Makeover in May. I paid 1/2 of my window repair up front and was told it would be done in 3 wks by the salesman. May 29th was the date of my payment. My window were finsihed on 7/25/2014. I had to contact the saleman many times to find out what was happening with my order. It took about 8 weeks to complete the job anf that is only because I hounded them to get it done and then they did it piece meal over many days. I even emailed the sales manager and called him and he never responded at all. On completion on 7/25/2014 them wanted their mony for the balance. I was mailed emailed an invoive stated the money was due NET 30days but they backdated the invoice to 5/29/2014 so it would be due now. Very poor business ethics. They string you out and make you wait and then want their money ASAP.

Great job and a money saver. Neighbors came by while they were onsite and they found more customers :). We are happy with the repairs!
Description of Work: We had some rotted window sills which they replaced. They "wrapped" our old window frames and they looked good as new. They made sure to point out the type of paint to use so that we could tell our exterior painter. We wanted to wait and see how they were over the window and they still look great. I think the price was reasonable and their workmen were very professional and did a great job cleaning.

We bought a foreclosure that had not been maintained. MANY windows were rotted of all different sizes. The window company no longer existed. My general contractor brought in his window "expert" who claimed my only choice was to buy new windows, at a cost of over $9000. I argued that only the actual wood around the glass was rotted--maybe 10% of the whole window unit--everything else was fine. Couldn't we somehow just make a new frame for the glass? (I had casement windows and picture windows that didn't open. According to my expert--NO. I am big on re-using/repurposing and I couldn't imagine that these windows couldn't be fixed, so I called a finish carpenter. He could do it, but we so backed up that he couldn't even look at them for months. I called the only other finish carpenter I could find who supposedly did such work and couldn't get him to return my calls. Somehow, I don't remember how, I came across Window Makeover. The salesman came out, said yes of course they could just replace the sash with new, custom made window sashes. I just KNEW someone could... :) The work was done on time, the replacement was flawless, and when I had a couple of follow-up questions about a window sticking, the installers came RIGHT back out promptly and adjusted the window. Then I had them back out to look at another window. Turns out that window just needed some adjustment and a new crank-open assembly part. I said, "Okay, hopefully I can find that at Home Depot." The guy--I wish I could remember who so I could give him credit! Terry maybe? Trent?--told me no, he had one and he'd bring it back for me. He made ANOTHER trip to my house to give me this part for free AND he installed it for me!! Try to find THAT in a contractor these days! I can't say enough about these guys. They saved me $6000, helped me re-use what I already had, and gave me some of the best customer service I've ever received from a contractor!

The job was completed in two days. Work was done by two installers who were very professional and appeared to be experts at what they were doing. They were careful and cleaned as they went even cleaning new windows. I was impressed from estimate to finished job. These folks are very good and filled a need we have. We have many Windsor windows which are no longer made. Replacing with another brand would result in a different appearance meaning the need to replace all windows not just ones with rot. This would have meant mega dollars as we have a lot of glass. Window Makeover offered a perfect alternative. They makes sashes to fit in existing frames; so, could selectively replace damaged windows and parts. I highly recommend them and will definitely use them if needed in the future.

The Window Makeover folks were fantastic. The came out and gave us an estimate (which was WAY LESS EXPENSIVE than everyone else). They came back in a couple weeks, changed out the glass, and installed new trim. I was not at home when the actual work happened (but my wife was at home). She praised their professionalism and quality. We would definitely recommend Window Makeover to anyone needing this type of service.
Description of Work: We have a 40" round window in our bedroom that needed replacing. The seal was shot, the rubber that separates the panes was drooping, water was leaking in... It was a mess. Also, the outside trim was rotted and needed replacement. We needed someone to come in and replace this window and outside trim without affecting our stain glass window that overlays this window.

Salesman was on time, listened to my reqirements and did a through inspection of all windows. His recommendation to repair 5 of 19 windows was the same as my own inspection deemed necessary. No additional material and labor were required beyond what he quoted. The installation team notified us the Friday before that then needed to finish a previous job and would arrive late on the Monday scheduled, but would complete the work that day. A crew of 3 repaired 5 windows in approximately 4 hours. They took care to ensure that the security alarm sensors remained operational with the new sills and sashes. They did miss one issue with a trim stop piece, which I noticed while preparing to paint. They promptly responded to and resolved the issue, apologizing for the inconvenience and their oversight. I recommend this to those like us who had a few problem areas of otherwise functional windows. I still have several wood windows to paint and maintain, but the Window Makeover saved me replacing 14 good windows. With proper maintanance those other windows should last at least another 5 years. The replacement sash seems much heavier than the original and is an excellent replica and fits well into the pressure seal track. One of my neighbors has hired Window Makeover for similar repairs on several of his windows.
Description of Work: Repair/rebuild frames and sills of 5 Semco double hung window units; two double-wide and one single. One of the 10 sashes was replaced. For these windows the precribed process is an exterior frame rebuild, where old wood exterior trim, sill and brick mold are removed; the original pressure seal tracks remain in place. The original Replacement sills are poplar wood with aluminum clad. All other trim, and sill nose are Azek--a PVC product that can be nailed, screwed and painted. The Azek pieces were perfectly cut to fit, properly installed and all brick moldings were caulked with a clear, paintable caulking. The exterior frame design accommodates existing screens better than the original frame/trim design. Windows were ready for top coat painting; expect to apply 2 coats to finish nicely. A crew of 3 repaired 5 windows in approximately 4 hours.

Job only took 3.5 hours, cleaned up nicely. You do have to prep and paint the windows afterwards as they are only primed.
