We get to know you, your family and your computers so that we can provide individualized service for you. Repairs are performed in our store and usually completed within 4 days. We do not use subcontractors. Our initial diagnostic fee is $65 and is applied to the labor portion of repairs.
As noted, I took my computer to the store to remove a virus. They were quick to charge a customarey $65 servuce fee and in addition they asked me to sign a form to authorize them to perform work. Unknown to me (and defintely not clearly explained to me), the form stated that they would wipe out everything to remove the virus. This has NEVER happened in the past - I have used this store on '3' other occasions. In each case they made every effort to remove the virus, WITHOUT, removing any applicable programs. This time they wiped off all my programs and SUPPOSEDLY put my harddrive spreadsheets, databases, files etc back onto the computer. Instead I discovered that they DID NOT put all the files back on the computer. I called to complain. The owner merely forwarded me to the technician. The technician said that if I could identify which files I needed, then he would put them on a disc. I asked why do I have to identify the files when you were suppose to put everything back. NO RESPONSE. I identified files that I easily knew were not on the computer - which he returned. I guess over time as I "run into' things - I will have to call. Then I asked WHY were all my programs removed. I was told that it was the only way to remove the virus. I told him that this has not been the case in the past AND if I had known that - I would NEVER have authorized it! He was "flippet and cockey" and informed me there was no one could do it any other way. If they had referred to their own records they would have been able to see that several of my computers had been bought to the store before for virus removal WITHOUT the need for them to WIPE everything off. In addition, I discovered '2' programs that I NEVER authorized. The technician told me 'Oh, we always put those programs on a computer'. It was bever explained to me what the programs were intended for. With 'privacy concerns' high on my list, I am quite bothered about the nature of these programs. AND once again, I note - this was never dones previosuly. Then on top of everything they charged me an additional $200 for basically a BLANK computer. I have a friend who complained about them - I should have listened! My own husband even took a lap top there and complained - I should have listened! I am ALL for small business, but as a business owner in a service industry, you should be about customer service; AND complaints should NOT be handled by your 'technicians' but instead should be handled by the owner. I regret on a daily basis that I took my computer to this store. I have '4' computers in my home; NONE will ever be serviced by Computer Renaissance again.

Although I have ALWAYS felt that their pricing was too high - they were always able to perform the work required. On this occasion, they removed the virus AND all programs and files from my computer. In addition, they ADDED programs that I did not authorize.

From start to finish, dealing with Computer Renaissance was a nightmare! Their front end staff hold themselves in high esteem in spite of the fact that they are unable to converse with customers in a positive manner. The person or persons who worked on my computer did not provide any value for my money whatsoever. You may want to check my other report re: computer repair companies to locate someone in the field who is just the opposite in customer service and value from this company.
Description of Work: I dropped off my computer for repair with the understanding that tune-up and installation of a memory stick would take 1-2 days. Four days later, after repeated phone inquiries, Computer Renaissance tried to DOUBLE CHARGE me for the $65 deposite fee. I found out, after the fact, that the spyware installed had not caught viruses which invaded my computer as well as the fact that this software could have been installed for free. Five weeks later, my computer was running just as slowly as it had been before my unfortunate encounter with Computer Renaissance.

I heard about Computer Renaissance on 55WKRC. I wanted a small store with service. I tried to look CR up on Angie's List but it was not listed. I visited the store and decided to purchase a computer from them.
Description of Work: Purchase a computer from Computer Renaissance. Although they can build computers for you, I purchased a store model, an Acer Veriton. They were helpful in customizing the computer to meet my needs.
