I contracted Basco via Lowes and was told they would contact me within 48 hours. This was on a Sunday morning. They didn't contact me, so I called them directly Tuesday afternoon and left a voicemail, which was not returned. I then called again Thursday and was on hold for over 20 minutes, at which time they couldn't find me in the "system". I called Lowes and canceled the order.

Basco was contracted by the people who built our bathroom, so I didn't have much say in things. They came out and measured for the mirror over our sink, and two weeks later they installed the mirror. That was all fine, and the installers were great - very friendly and they did a good job. In fact, had they not been, this review would have been an F, because the scheduler/customer support people are AWFUL! Here's what happened: A snippy woman called me on Wednesday afternoon and told me the installation would occur on Thursday morning between 7:30-8:30. This was bad timing for us for a number of reasons, but I was so taken aback I agreed. However, after hanging up, I decided to call back and request a reschedule. Well, you would have thought I had asked her for the moon, she was so rattled. She said she didn't know if that would work, but she'd see what she could do. I told her we'd really appreciate it if she could reschedule to after 10 on Friday, and if she couldn't, we'd understand. Then . . . she never called back to let us know. We were left hanging, and went to bed on Wednesday night deciding that we would have to get up early to be dressed and ready before they came. But of course, they never came. At 8:50, my husband decided he should call, to see if she would be more courteous to a man. That turned into a comedy, while he was bounced around from operator to operator. (How many people answer the phone at this place? Is it really such a huge operation???) Finally, he got someone who, although she never explained what happened to them showing up on Thursday, said she could schedule them for Friday at 8am. When I overheard this, I reminded my husband it had to be after 10, which for some reason this person couldn't accommodate; however, she bounced him to yet another operator who said 10:00 on Friday would be fine. (They actually showed up at 11, but whatever.) Anyway, like I said, we didn't personally hire this company, but we will pass our experience on to the bathroom contractor who did. I'm sure they don't want this kind of service souring what otherwise was a successful enterprise.

A crew from Basco came out to re-install. Of course, they were trying to use the previous panels, so the measurements weren't correct. This install team listened to us and took new measurements. They saiid new panels would be cut. A week later another crew came out to install the panels and doors. We requested a "veteran" install team. We reviewed the install issue we had with this crew. They proceeded to install the new panels and shower door. They did a great job. The panels look really nice. The quality of the materials is really good. Had the job been done right the first time, I would have given an A rating. We are very pleased with the result, but we're very disappointed in the effort it took to get it done. If you use Basco, request a veteran team for measurements and installation.
Description of Work: We purchased shower doors from Basco through Agean Spa and Bath. The original drawing was incorrect. Luckily, I spotted the mistake before signing the contract. Basco said they couldn't do the shower doors like we wanted. My brother-in-law who has the identical bathroom to us (+or- a quarter of an inch), just had them made by Basco in December. After looking at the drawing for my brother in law, they said the doors needed to be 1/2 inch glass. Uh, ok, let's do that. A new drawing was sent and the contract was signed. We chose to have the Aquaglide treatment applied. The installers came and after installing 2 of the three panels, they told my husband that the last panel was too tall and needed to be re-cut; my husband went in to the bathroom, only to discover the panels had been installed backwards. The shower door was swinging the wrong way and the Aquaglide was on the outside of the panels. He told them to stop immediately. We called Agean who promised Basco would make it right. A representative from Basco called and argued with my husband that the doors had not been installed wrong, that was how it was supposed to be. He then asked her if she looked at the drawing and why the Aquapel was on the outside if it was done correctly. Basco sent out an installer to remove the 2 panels. This left us with 4 holes in the granite shower curb and 3 hole in our tile on the wall. They wanted to have a tile guy come out and remove the piece of tile where the holes are located. It is a 16x20 piece of tile. We don't want to do this because it can damage the wall board and end up causing even more repairs to a brand new shower in a bathroom remodel. At this point we haven't heard back from Basco or Agean. Agean says they don't want to get in the middle of it. Why did I pay money to them then? Which, by the way, they require payment in full before starting the job because it is custom.

This was an up and down experience from the beginning. Long ago, in a previous home, I had used Basco to replace a shower door. I remember them doing a good job, so I called them again to replace the shower doors on our bathtub. I was told on the phone that I would have to visit a dealer first to pick out the doors we wanted. I was given a choice of a couple of places, and I chose Winnelson in Milford, because it was closer. My wife and I chose the doors we wanted, and we were quoted a price of $787.20 + $158.00 for installation + tax. We gave our contact information, and were told that Basco would call us to set-up a time for them to measure the enclosure. The two men who measured were pleasant, but we were told the installation was going to be more expensive, and they were going to charge us for the removal of our old doors. This was an unexpected and unpleasant surprise. Therefore, the original cost of $945 + tax ballooned to $1315. We still gave them the okay. We were told that it would be about two weeks, and that someone would call us to set-up the installation appointment. After some time had passed without hearing anything, I checked my credit card statement and learned that our card was charged the total amount on September 9, 2013. So, I called Winnelson on Thursday, September 19th. Our contact there, Amy, said she'd call Basco, and then report back to us. When Amy called back, she told us that Basco would call us either that day, Thursday, or the following day to schedule the installation. That didn't happen. Therefore, I e-mailed Amy. She was apologetic, and said she would contact them again on Monday. I did receive a call from Basco on Monday, and the installation was set for the next day between noon and 3. The installers came out at 12:05 on Tuesday, and installed the new doors. They were very pleasant, and appeared to have done a good job. However, the following morning, my wife noticed a crack in one of the tiles where the door frame was mounted. It's a very small crack, and it's on the end away from the spigot and shower head. I think trying to fix it would cause more problems then just leaving it as it is. Still, I felt the installers should have told us about the crack, but they didn't. So, as you can see, there were both pluses and minuses to this project. We like the doors, the people were pleasant, but we didn't like the surprise inflation of the price, nor their not owning-up to the crack in the tile.

It was an awful experience. See the details above.
Description of Work: I purchased a shower door in August 2012 from an independent distributor of Basco Shower Enclosures. Since the independent distributor (Luxstores.com) did not perform the installations, I then contacted Basco (the manufacturer) directly for installation services. Basco agreed to perform the installation for a fee of $409. On August 28, 2012 my credit card was charged $409, but the actual installation was performed on September 8, 2012. The invoice from Basco is dated September 10, 2012, because they would not process the invoice until the installation was completed (see the email correspondence attached). My contact at Basco was Amy Harrison throughout the entire ordeal. From the onset I had problems with the door. I am not complaining about the problems with the door, because the problems were minor, and the shower is operable. My complaint is the poor customer service provided by Basco. This is a high-end shower door, and I expected better treatment. The shower door cost $1,131, and the installation cost $409 for a total value of $1,540. In December 2012, I discovered a vibration when I open and close the door. I called Basco and they dispatched a service person (unrelated to the original installer). In February 2013, the problem resurfaced. I called Basco, and another service person contacted me (the service personnel are subcontractors). That subcontractor was very rude. I then notified Amy Harrison at Basco on several occasions (via email and phone), and she told me that since they use subcontractors that she could not do anything for me. However, she had no problem accepting my payment of $409. Since Basco did not make an effort to resolve the problem, I have hired someone to fix the door. I would like Basco to reimburse me for the services performed, and I would like other consumers to be aware.

Installation went well, thought the price was fair after learning how much these things really cost. However, almost a year later, the door is making a bad popping sound when opened, coming from the hinges. They came out a few weeks ago, July 2011, but it didn't fix it. A day later it was back to popping again. I can also see some rust coming from the hinge. Overall nice looking, but I don't like the hinge and the aquaglide seems to be gone already also. I wouldn't recommend that added expense, either. UPDATE: They came back and fixed the hinges by replacing them, re-installed the door and all is well. They made it right!

I have used them and will continue to use them. They do nice work. They are cheaper than anyone else I can find for the quality of work they do. They install when they say they will and it is professional. It is straight, plum and high quality. They are what you want.

They absolutely matched everything because they were the company that worked with our home builder. They come out and measure, and then come back to do the installation. It?s truly a custom shower.

The company employees were always polite and considerate. However, the first set of shower doors were installed and after 2 days, I noticed a shallow scratch in the glass (can feel with finger nails) about 6 inches long in the glass door. Basco quickly agreed to replace it. However, the next visit, the installer came with the wrong size of sliding glass doors. Finally on the third visit, things were fine.

We purchased one tub door to replace a shower curtain and one shower door to replace an existing shower door. We chose the ''basic'' model for both bathrooms, with silver frames and obscure glass. Basco installs products they manufacture and you can go their showroom to see the displays but you must purchase them through one of their dealers. We checked around for price and purchased them from another company, although all they did was process the paperwork. Basco installed the doors. One of the doors came off the track shortly after it was installed but they came back and fixed it right away.
