ELLER'S HEATING & COOLING

Description of Work: Eller's HVAC installed our Trane furnace and heat pump. Initally we were very pleased with the functionality of our system since we moved in right at the start of the '06-'07 winter season (a bad winter). We used Eller's for our maintenance starting 1 year after moving into the home. We planned on having them do the preventitive work since they installed the system. We were initally pleased at the promptness of call backs to set up appts. It was easy to get a convienent appt. I should have known a problem would eventually arrise when he didn't show up for his 2nd scheduled appt. When I called him 15" after he was scheduled to arrive, he said that he had to take his daughter to school that morning. Really? You miss an appt. and don't call the customer to inform or reschedule--I thought it rude, but he apologized and asked to come later that day. Later on I also figured out that he was charging me almost $10 more for a furnace filter than what I could buy at a home improvement store. We decided to have our furnace's combustion air intake changed from being internal (from the basement air) to fresh air d/t our plans to finish the basement. Now, we had no idea that from the beginning of the build of our house that the combustion air should have benn fresh air to begin with. Our Eller's knew we had plans to finish the basement. We received a bid from Eller's as well as another HVAC company recommended by our builder. When the 2nd company came in less expensive, we went with them. They uncovered a mess. Eller's had installed incorrect equipment and made a mess of the furnace-heatpump system. The way it had been installed was causing unneccessary wear of the system and causing the furnace and heatpump to work at the sametime---wasting energy and $. When confronted by our builder, Eller's denied doing anything incorrectly and stated that Trane had sent the equipment for the house and he installed as they intended. After getting a Trane representitve involved, it was clear that Eller's was in the wrong and they refused to fix it. Our builder had to absorb the cost ($500) to rectify the problem.
