Buckeye Mower Repair

The guys at Buckeye mower did a bang up job. My 20 year old Bunton now runs as good as when I bought it used 17 years ago. Zips though 7 inch tall grass like it was nothing. (of course, it really depends on the mower…) They did troubleshoot the problems with the mower and informed me that the voltage regulator was not charging the battery. They did not have one with them but told me how to fix it if I wanted to go the less expensive route and fix it myself, which I will do. Also, what I wanted from them was an honest evaluation of whether or not to keep the 62” old beast, hoping for a yes answer. I was not disappointed, telling me to sharpen the blades and change the oil once a year. Maybe I’ll get vintage plates for the Bunton! The visit, advise and tune up were well worth the money. I highly recommend their service.

Russ is always very professional and prompt with his service. He was running ahead of schedule and gave me a holler so we could knock the work out in the morning, which was great. He is a great resource to call on in the spring and winter to keep the mower working properly.

I have a two stage snow thrower that needed maintenance repair. Russ came to my home to work on my equipment. He performed maintenance on my equipment, walked me through the repairs and how they impacted the operation of the equipment. Now I also know the proper fuel and oil to place in my equipment. He made sure I understood how to correctly operate my equipment and how I can perform basic upkeep. The fee was absolutely very reasonable. This "senior citizen" would highly recommend Buckeye Mower to those who need their variety of services and I plan to call them for other repairs I will need in the spring. Courteous, professional, experienced, on time, thorough, considerate, AND reasonable fees.

Russ did a great job. He arrived early and was fast, knowledgeable, polite, honest, and didn’t make or leave a mess. Will definitely use his service again.

So Angie's List is making it basically impossible to edit my previous review. This review should take the place of my original and it should be disregarded: After an initially rocky start to the whole process, the owner of Buckeye Mower Repair and myself were able to come to terms, admit that we'd both been hasty in our judgement of each other and ultimately schedule an appointment for my mower to be looked at. Not only did he show up early, he was very cordial and was clearly committed to solving my mower issue despite any previous hang ups that either of us had. I will put it out there for all to know...I was not an easy nor understanding customer at the end of our initial series of scheduling conflicts. I was wrong to call the whole thing off. The owner was able to narrow down the issue to what he believes it to be and parts were ordered. Even though I'm quite a distance from his usual route of travel, he offered to come back and put the part on for a very reasonable cost. Being the type to want to fix everything myself, I told him I'd like to take a crack it first. He seemed happy that I didn't retreat into the house while he worked and showed an interest in understanding more about my mower and how to fix it. With me, this isn't about money, it's about my desire to be self sufficient in all things around my house. If I feel I'm in over my head I will gladly call Russ back as he clearly knows what he is doing and is good at it. It didn't take him long to figure it out and I am eager to recommend him to anyone with mower problems. I am certain I'll be requesting he come back and tune my mower up at some point in the future. Update* - The new part I needed arrived on Tuesday and I was able to get it installed. I had one minor issue but Russ was able to help me out via text message and I was able to use a functioning mower again for the first time in weeks. I can't thank Buckeye Mower enough for the assistance, clear through to the end! Thanks again Russ, not only for diagnosing my mower problem but for giving me the chance to be another happy customer. Not only did you prove very helpful with my mower, I've also learned about how to be a little more understanding and patient.

Russ arrived on time and fixed my lawn mower like new! It's nice to have someone I can trust. Would definitely recommend and hire again!

The convenience of having someone fix onsite was valuable. I didn't have to load the small but heavy & gas smelly snowblower into my SUV. And I didn't have to wait for someone to pick it up and bring it back. I like his business model. It took Russ about 2 minutes to diagnose the problem. He cleaned the parts and the snow blower started right up. I highly recommended scheduling via his website rather than calling. Scheduling online was fast, easy, and accurate. Russ did end up having to reschedule our appointment - moving it out one day - and was very responsive letting me know in advance.

Russ was unable to come when originally scheduled, but he called to let me know and we rescheduled within 2 days. He arrived as rescheduled, on time. He identified the issue within 5 minutes, and had the mower repaired within another 10 minutes. In addition, we had him sharpen the blades. He didn't charge a travel fee and was able to fix our mower on site without our having to lift and haul a filthy mower in our car or van. Price was reasonable.

Did Not; He did not show for scheduled appts and excuses were unacceptable. Had to find another alternative. Wont be using again.

Russ (?) called to reschedule my Tuesday appointment so we agreed upon the next evening. He never showed up and never returned my calls.

Russ was quick, very professional and knowledgeable. Answered questions I had about another lawn mower that I had problems with over an extended period of time and will have him service this mower from now on. Very likable guy and not afraid to do the work. I would recommend him to anyone with mower problems.

I would definitely NOT recommend Buckeye Mower Repair. After seeing a recommendation for them on Nextdoor this year, I contacted Russ at Buckeye Mower to have my push mower and my lawn tractor tuned up. Both need new tires and the push mower needed to have the self propelled belt serviced as well. It took me a couple of attempts to get a response but Russ eventually responded. He said he could do the work so I asked for a quote. Since I was asking on the weekend, he said he was with his kids but would provide a quote on Monday. Ok. That is fine. I have 4 kids too so I know the importance of family time. I never got the quote that following Monday so I contacted Russ again. He provided a quote a few days later. So I then asked when he could do the work and he said he wasn't sure but it was at least a couple of weeks out. Again, this communication was over the following weekend so he said that he would get me a specific date ...you guessed it...on Monday. I never received a date from Russ. Therefore I gave up on working with him as it was just too hard. I started looking again and found a website for a company that sounded good and would do the work at my house. I sent an email via their website asking for a quote for the same work. I never got a response to the email. I was just looking at the website that I found (I was more interested in the description of the work they would do and not the name of the company. It turns out it was BUCKEYE MOWER again!!! Here is the kicker. Last year I contacted a person using Angie's list. That person said they would work with me when I contacted them via Angie's List. They said they were busy though and that it would be a few weeks. He said he would call me to schedule the appointment. I never got another call. I just went back and looked at the contact from last year (it was still in my email box). Yep...Russ at Buckeye Mower!!! Needless to say, I would never recommend them. If they can't even follow up on quotes and scheduling, I wouldn't trust them to do the work.

The provider is either A) doing this as a side business without concern for customer service or B) has so much work that he doesn't care about customer service. From the beginning, I found this service and scheduled an appointment on their website with the appointment being about a week out. The appointment was set for 6:00 PM. The day of the appointment I get a text from Russ asking if I would be available earlier. I also have a job and scheduled this appointment at a time that I could be there and not miss work. He tells me that he has to be home by 4:00 for his kids and asks to reschedule for Sunday. It's Tuesday. At this point, I have already waited for a week until my appointment got here from when I scheduled it. I understand that we all can have emergencies but this doesn't appear to be one of those. Good luck to anyone who schedules an appointment with this provider and then waits for it to arrive only to be asked to reschedule.

Tune-up was done in a timely manner. Good deal for my money. I will hire them again for work on my mowers.

Appt went well. 2 delays and reschedules because of bad weather and family death. Russ came when scheduled and both mowers are ready to go. Pleased with service, quality and professionalism. Recommend and will use again.

It didn't. Made an appointment. Confirmed twice. Kept someone home just for the service call. Day of, was told couldn't come out and wanted to reschedule a couple days later. Didn't seem to care much about it either.

Good - Russ was on time, professional, and completed all tasks as expected.

They were on time and did the work I requested. The self Propelled mower needed some carb parts which they had on their truck and it was put into good working order. I will hire them again as they were prompt efficient and reasonably priced.

Everything went well and they did a great job. Tried to hire them again the last two years and they were booked 3-4 months out on their website. Tried to call but they never got back to me. Had to find someone else.

On time, courteous & professional. Mower is running & cutting great! It even uses less gas now.

I bought a deal for $79 for a Mobile Lawn Mower Tune-Up. I made an appointment for July 14th. The mower was at my daughter’s house so I met Russ there. He was on time and was very friendly. He tuned up the mower. I asked him to check out why the self-propel wasn’t working. He said the front wheels needed to be replaced in order for the self-propel to work. We made an appointment for him to come back to replace the wheels on July 28th. Russ called me before that day and asked if he could reschedule for July 30 after 5 pm. On July 30 I drove to my daughter’s house, which is about 10 miles away, and waited for Russ. When he wasn’t there by 5:45, I called him to ask him if he had any idea when he was going to be there. I wanted to make sure he was still coming. He sent me a text telling me that his daughter had spent the day working with him and he had to take her home, which wasn’t in Columbus. He said he was willing to sell me the parts at cost and not charge labor to save face. I said okay when can you reschedule? He asked when was best for me. I said how about August 4th? No reply! I never heard from him again! He wasn’t even going to call me On July 30th to tell me he wasn’t coming! I have no complaints about his first visit on July 14th but I don’t know what happened after that! I guess I would have to call it bad business. My A ratings are for Price and Quality for the initial visit. My F ratings are for what happened after that.
