+ -1 moreI had a sewage pump fail with flooding in my basement. The system was installed by the prior owner and I had little information about it. I talked to 6 different plumbers and my city with 4 professionals coming to my house and failing to diagnose the problem. Eventually, I was referred to Harper Well & Pump. Mike was prompt in helping me diagnose the problem over the phone and said he could bring several parts for different potential solutions in the morning. He arrived when he said he would and made surprisingly quick work confirming the problem, replacing a failed sewage pump and its system, and replacing the old worn crock seal. Work was tidy.

+ 0 moreWe couldn't understand why there was water accumulating in the corner of the basement. We had had our plumber out and 2 other people and no one had found the hair pin leak, but the technician from Harper Well and Pump. Such a relief to have the problem located so I could call my plumber back to fix it. The technician also explained with copper piping and a high Ph level in the water, leaks and cracks occur more and we needed our plumber to change out the copper piping to PVC piping so no further air pin leaks would occur with the copper piping.

+ -1 moreCouldn't be happier!!!!! The plumber and an apprentice showed up at the stated time, completed the trouble shooting and repairs in a little over an hour. They explained the repairs and adjusted the timer on the green sand filter which was only set to cycle every 6 days. Harpers Well and Pump are my go to people for well service from this day on!!!!!

+ -1 moreDave did a fantastic job, overall A they had to reschedule me as they had an emergency call, thus the B for responsiveness (they called me at 7:50 for 9:00) but Dave showed up right when scheduled on rescheduled time. Dave took me through overall system function, as I had never had it described to me. Did a great job laying it out for me, what each element general does, now long it last etc. First time I ever understood whole thing. Gave me some options on my issues with changing filters on system and some recommnedations/quotes. Very professional.
Description of Work: Called to evaluate my well system, which I had not serviced in 6 years in the house. Had problem with my pressure on Kinectico RO filter. Also, perform water potability test.

+ -1 moreCalled Harper. Matt arrived within an hour. Determined quickly, using measurements, the pump was not working and needed replaced. He pulled the pipes and replaced the pump, and had the water back on in less than a couple hours. All this in 10 degree temp (less than -13 F feel), and Snow Squalls. Matt's a winner and so is Harper Well and Pump.

+ -1 moreEverything went very well.. Showed up at 12;55 pm for a 1:00 pm appointment, which I got the day before when I called to explain our issues. The young lady on the phone was knowledgeable and had some ideas after my explanation. The first ten minutes, he tested the system and told me exactly what he was going to do and why. Gave me a couple of things to look out for. He replaced the switch and started the system back up. Everything took 30 minutes. Very friendly, very informative and very professional.
Description of Work: Tested our water well system, determined the tank was filled with water instead of air, drained tank, filled with air, replaced pump switch.

+ -1 moreContacted Harper about failed well pump & they came out next day. Initial idea was for them to repair/replace well pump, but they diagnosed well had collapsed. Opted for surface water system using pond water rather than drilling new well because of water problems locally. Had history with Harper - had serviced well softener system in property I rented long-term, so hired them to buy parts and install system (I work at a water plant so I already knew exactly what I wanted). Getting permits from State and County took 3 months and then it took another 2 weeks to get the parts in and schedule, but Mike installed the sytem and capped the well in a single day. Very professional work, cleaned up, and was $500.00 under the estimate. Would hire again.

+ -1 moreThe installation required some plumbing modifications which Mike was prepared for and made efficiently and effectively. Having never had a well I had many questions about function, controls and proper maintenance which he took time to answer in a clear and complete way. I am much more confident about the quality of our water now and saw an increase in water pressure throughout the house after the replacement of the small restrictive filter with the whole house system.
Description of Work: Mike tested our existing water quality then installed a whole house water filter ahead of our water softener with material to remove sediment and charcoal to improve taste and remove other impurities. He set the controls of both the filter and softener to schedule back flushing based on the results of the water tests. Before the installation I asked him to look at the old corroded well cap which did not provide an adequate seal. He had a replacement on the truck, removed the old, cleaned the top of the well casing, shortened the tangle of wiring, added chlorine to clear the water lines and installed the a cap with double O-ring seals.

+ -1 moreThe water at our house went out on a Sunday night around 7pm. We have well water so my wife called Harper Well and they said they could come out the next morning around 9am. Sure enough, they were right on time. They quickly diagnosed the problem and determined that we needed a new well pump. The cost $1100.00. OUCH!! But what could I say at that point? They had already pulled the well pipe and pump out of the ground and I needed to get to work. If I said I'll pass, they would have charged $100 or more anyway just for the house call. So I said ok, and they completed the job in less than 2 hours (total time from arrival to departure). The new pump works great and there have been no issues. The next week, I go online to see how much the pump they installed would cost. The pump is $500 on Amazon. So essentially, they charged us $600 for 1.5 hours of actual work! Come on now... $400 an hour!!! I understand paying a little more when you are in a bind, but that is out-and-out robbery. I work at a large healthcare organization in Cleveland, and seasoned physicians do not make that kind of money. NEVER AGAIN will I use their services or recommend this company, EVER! Be warned, if you are in a bind, I would recommend going with another company. If you are not in a bind, be sure to get quotes.

Description of Work: A few days prior we had shocked our well to try and fix an odor issue. Well, that was not the right thing to do. We stirred up copious amounts of sediment and our water was still muddy after a few days. We called 4 other well specialists, but were totally sold on every aspect of this company. The initial contact was received and a follow up phone call occurred shortly. The gentleman I spoke to, Matt, was extremely knowledgeable, empathetic, and explained all that needed to be done. I knew we probably needed our well, bailed and cleaned. His explanation of what all would be done: with the length of time to fix the problem, the use of products made in America and made of stainless and brass, the cost factor, and how to take care of our well in the future was priceless. They came out within 72 hours, as this was not an emergency, otherwise, they said they could come out sooner. Matt and a co-worker were professional, thorough, explained all that they were doing, and measured my well and pump depth, as the county records were wrong, A new pump was also installed after a thorough cleaning. When all was done, they cleaned up as if they were never here. My old pump was 30 years old and still working, but we changed it , anyway. They also explained how to flush our water out of our system(including turning off our water softener and hot water tank which we had done before), flush out our pressure tank, when to change our water filters again. Most of their info we knew, but it was great to get a refresher course. The end result was clear and odor free well water and knowing how to properly care for our well to prevent further problems. I cannot say enough about this company.

Description of Work: Asked them to come out and clean out and scrub well. They came out cleaned out and scrubbed and during the course of the day they came back and continued to flush. They were very professional and contacted me afterward and walked me thru the process and any followups. I was able to call them on multiple times to ask questions and they were very helpful and willing to help any way they could.

Description of Work: Replaced pressure tank without a bladder with a new bladder tank. Very knowledgeable and came in a timely manner. Helped diagnose a few other problems that were causing low water pressure. He left his card and did not pressure us into doing more repairs. We liked the service very much and will be using their service again in the future. He was also very nice to take the time to explain how everything works and what we could do as a next step when we were ready.

+ -1 moreWe've struggled with water issues in our 100+ year old farm house for over three years. We had a company come out six months ago and they charged us $60 to tell us everything "looked OK". I decided to call Harper a few weeks ago (after freaking out about laundry, a hot shower, and doing dishes!) since I had used them several years ago for a project at work with success. John & Dave came out to look at the job the same day I called. After a bit of head scratching, they found that we weren't drawing water from a shallow cistern in the yard - we were pulling water from a well in a crawl space next to the house! We were all suprised (and a little disappointed in our realtor that said there wasn't a well and that guy that said "everything look OK" after peering into the cistern). We scheduled an appointment to clean the well and replace our jet pump with a submersible pump two weeks later. John and Dave arrived on time, finished the job within 4 hours, and were a joy to work with - I would highly recommend Harper to anyone that has a quirky water well project!

+ -1 moreOur overall experience was fantastic. At no time did Harper Well attempt to sell us services we may not have needed. I would definitely recommend them strictly from the point of view that other companies may have exploited out general lack of knowledge regarding wells and newness to that type of water supply.
Description of Work: They called with questions regarding shock chlorination. The employees were very helpful and provided explicit directions on how to do it and ensured us that we could do it without hiring a company to do it for us. The only thing they suggested from a sales perspective was to use a ''well sanitizer'' instead of regular bleach. While they stated that they sold it, they also stated that we should be able to pick it up at any supply store that sells well salt.
