On Tueday, January 19th 2016, Bob Byers came out to inspect the sewer gas leak. He determined the leak was coming from one of my toilets. He said it would cost just as much to replace the toilet as to repair the seal so I had him replace it on the January 23rd. Quickly I realized the water in the toilet was seeping out. The sewer gas smell was still present. I called him and said there was a still a problem. Bob Byers came back on January 29th. He said nothing was wrong with the toilet and it must be my plumbing. He suggested that I have a smoke test done to check my vents and traps. I asked him how much this would cost- he quoted around $600. He already charged me $841.89 to put in the new toilet which did not fix my problem. On March 8th, once I saved enough money I paid a handyman who was recommended by Springdale building department to check my plumbing vent on the roof, which cost $125. They put a hose down the vent and found no blockage or clog. On Friday March 18th I paid Nieman Plumbing $435.60 to do the smoke test. Again, results showed no clogs or blockage. Immediately I called Bob Byers and told him there was no problem with the plumbing and it was because of the toilet. I told him I wanted my money back. He said he would give my money back because he has mortgages to pay and I need to call Delta, the toilet manufacturing company. Bob overcharged me and cost me so much extra money and my problem is not solved. I am sick from the methane leak and have to keep my windows open all the time and have had to sleep in the back seat of my car in the my garage. He needs to come get his toilet and refund my money in full.
Description of Work: I called Roy's Rooter to inspect a sewer gas leak in my home. He replaced a toilet in my second floor bathroom.

Initial call was about a smell in the home. I recommended a smoke test and that an outside company that I know and trust, to do the job. No smell of any kind was ever found by me in the home but I did see signs of water leakage from the 2nd floor toilet. – water stains on the floor around the base of the toilet. This could also contribute to sewer smell in the home. Upon customer request I installed a new toilet as she wanted a new one anyway. I made charges for toilet pickup and delivery, disposal, and new toilet install, labor and all parts. I gave the customer the option to pick up her own toilet however the customer indicated that as long as the toilet was an elongated toilet she would be happy with it. After pulling toilet I found the toilet flange was broken. A flange is what holds the toilet to the floor and attaches to the Drain. I talked with the customer about the flange being broken and that the toilet would not sit properly without being repaired. She agreed to pay the additional charge for the flange repair. The customer agreed that if she continued to smell something in the home, we could do the smoke test at a later time. I indicated many times that the only way to be sure of finding a sewer smell would be completing a smoke test. The customer returned a call to me about a smell and I returned in just a few days later and found nothing wrong with neither the toilet nor any signs of a sewer smell or any bad smell whatsoever. Customer insisted that the toilet was bad so I called the manufacturer for a second opinion. By the conversation I had with them, they determined the toilet is functioning properly however I could get a replacement toilet to satisfy the customer, but the toilet I installed would need to be returned to them. I told the customer that I would install another toilet, same brand and make however she insisted this time during our conversation that nothing was wrong with the toilet I installed and that replacing the toilet with the same make and model would not fix the problem. She indicated that the toilet was simply incompatible with her master bath toilet on the other side of the wall. She got these opinions she said from home depot and I’m not sure who else. They said this incompatible issue must be the problem because nothing was wrong with the toilet. I explained as best as I could that this simply is not true nor do toilets and systems work this way. If water is being drained from the toilet as she says, then it is something other than the new toilet such as a blockage in the main stack. However I did return to her home and check the toilet and it was in good working condition. She agreed and insisted that the toilet is fine but not the right kind of toilet for her home. I recommended to the customer that she get another opinion from another reputable plumbing company about the incompatible issue because this simply isn't true. All my years of experience I do know this to be a fact. End result, she wants the identical toilet in her master bathroom to be installed and this is something I needed to know in the very beginning before the job was started. I will agree to install whatever toilet she decides to purchase however she will need to pick it up and purchase it. The Delta toilet I installed can be returned but I will charge her for the additional work. However the Manufacturer indicated that they would replace the toilet as it us under warranty, so this would cost her zero. I agreed to install it free of charge and this would not Cost her anything additional. As far as the prices I charged her for each item is what I would charge anyone that called me and required the same type and amount of work done. Again, additional charges were made to replace the floor flange. All plumbing companies charge for additional work. However I have found throughout all my years of plumbing that we are generally about 20-40 percent less than the bigger companies. If the customer wants a new toilet I will be glad to install it for her free of charge and she can pay for the toilet of her choice.

it went very well...When he first arrived at my front door, he put booties on his feet. I was so impressed at that point. He looked at my faucet and spent a few minutes looking for the leak. When he found it, he explained it all to me and why it was leaking. His van was stocked with a nice faucet so he replaced it. After he was finished, the garbage disposal seals or gaskets were bad so I had him install a disposal too. It was nice because he came with all the parts and didn't have to make trips to home depot. I am very impressed with his manor ism and talents as a plumber. They answered my phone call the first time I called and scheduled something with me within the first hour... I will always use Roysrooter!! And oh by the way, a friend recommended Bob and his company Roysrooter.com and they apparently love him too!!

They were on time and professional. Sometimes we dread when contractors come in to the house, not this time. He wore booties on his shoes to show he cared about my house. I felt the price was reasonable and I felt he was honost.
