My girlfriend hired Rick last minute the year before and his team did a fabulous job. So , of course I requested a quote from Brush and Ladder to help us transform our family room before our daughter's wedding. He arrived, extremely prepared and gave us a detailed quote which I immediately signed. Rick has great creative vision . However, he fell short with his delivery of paint sample colors as promised . However, I was under the gun and looked past that. I was clear about the start and end date and put it on the contract. I was going out of town ( overseas) and had assigned my daughter to be home the day Rick PROMISED his team would arrive. I emailed and called several times with no response before I had to get on a plane for a week long business meeting. My daughter patiently waited for Rick to arrive. My emails from overseas remained unanswered for two days. Finally, I did get an email that he won't be able to do the job. Family emergency ! While I get that can happen, Rick never called my daughter on the phone number I left to let her know. Now , when I read the reviews on Angie's list, I realize this is a pattern. I had to hire someone ten days before the wedding to do the job ( while calling from overseas! ) That being said, I was ready to forgive and forget and try again for my exterior paint this summer- especially since I was not on a time line. I emailed and called Rick. After a few tries, he finally got back to me and said he would love to do my house and would call the next day. Needless to say, he never called or emailed even after I sent another request. I would never recommend such a service to anyone who is so unreliable .

Don't waste your time with this company. I hired him in April 2016 to paint the exterior of my home. He presents a very professional looking proposal, but that is really the extent of his professionalism. At the time I hired him, he told me he would start my house in about ten days. But all through the months of May, June, July, and August, there was just one excuse after another as to why he had not yet started. The typical pattern was to tell me he was backed up due to weather, but my house was next on the schedule and he would start the next week - and this is when he bothered to return calls and texts. When the time came to start, there would another excuse, another delay, and I would not hear from him again for weeks. After wasting most of the summer waiting for him, I eventually gave up and hired another painter. My mistake was not doing so within the first 30 days.

Used them 2x. Once for interior in winter 2014 and exterior in June 2014. Painters were very polite and did very well on both interior and exterior. They even helped me with a minor issue on 2nd story exterior window and dusted off (they offered) the 2nd story foyer light fixture during interior painting. They did a good job on cleanliness but I'm picky. Owner, Rick, comes out to provide estimate as well as visits job site during and upon completion. You and he walk the job upon completion. Employees stick around until he gives them the okay to pack up. This is very good thing. No deposits and you pay only upon satisfactory completion. Pricing was very good as well as the quality of paints and sealers. The only trouble with this operation is that Rick does a poor job of communicating and scheduling work; his overall planning and responsiveness is weak from customer perspective. So if you're able to tolerate the chasing of Rick and able to have the work done next week or up to 3 months from now, then they're a very good operation with quality work. You will likely get frustrated and timing is everything. I stated I would use this provider in future because of their workmanship and pricing but I know 'chasing' Rick is a chore.

Despite repeated calls he did not return our calls excep fott one call. He told us he was busy.

They are great and did a great job.

Responded immediately to my quote request. Prepared a detailed estimate of costs broken down by labor and materials. Did not get the job done as early as hoped due to lots of rain and adverse weather conditions. Arrived on the agreed upon day (after weather delays) and worked efficiently. All workers wore identifying uniforms. Cleaned up work area every night. Very professional work crew. I believe they did superior work for the agreed upon cost.

Rick and his crew caulked, sanded and stained (2 coats) the soffit of my three story house. They also touched up with paint where needed. His bid was less than half of two other bids I had received and the scope of the work he performed was a little more than the other bids. In the end, his actual bill was $20 less than the bid! That doesn't happen very often! They were punctual, polite, clean, and did an over all excellent job. About a week after completing the job, Rick called to make sure everything was OK. I said it was great we were very satisfied. I mentioned I wished I had had him do one other small thing for me. He responded, "I'll be working in your area next week, I'll come by and take care of it." No charge, no problem. I will recommend and use them again.

About five years ago Brush and Ladder painted our house. They did a good job, we were very pleased, we paid in full immediately, and expected to use them next time the house needed painting. A month or so ago we called for an estimate. Rick came out promptly and giave us an estimate while he was here. We told him we'd make a decision within a few days, which we did. When I called to advise him that we'd like to proceed, I had to leave a voice mail, which isn't unusual. However, when we didn't receive a call back for well over a week I got concerned. There was no address printed on the estimate so there was no easy way to return a signed contract. We looked up the address and phoned again, telling him he had the job and we could mail the signed contract or scan and email it in order to expedite things. Again we waited without a response. I kept thinking that there must be some kind of phone problem and that at some point we could talk and get the job scheduled. That never happened, despite the fact that I made one more call telling him that we really needed to know one way or another if he was going to take the job. He never responded in any way so I ultimately left a final voice mail advising him that we would not need his services. Since he did do a good job before, I'll give him a D rather than an F but he is off our list of trusted suppliers.

Brush and Ladder did an absolutely fantastic job! We were extremely satisfied with the result and with the cost. Rick is an excellent communicator who stayed in close touch with us in-person, as well as via cell phone, email, and text messages. A lot of the work had to be done around the Christmas holidays, which made scheduling a challenge. Nonetheless, working through any scheduling conflicts with Rick was easy. Rick and his team has continued to stay in touch with us as we listed and sold the home. He came back to do final touch-up work and to fix minor paint flaws and other miscellaneous items, even when he was under no obligation to do so because the damage was done by other contractors working after painting was complete. Brush and Ladder is a first class operation run by a first class guy. I would recommend Brush and Ladder to anyone with a painting project.

I originally contacted Rick, the owner, and he came right away to look at the proposed work. We agreed he would start in two weeks. This was early October. As the day approached, I called to confirm the starting time. He did not respond until the day before the committed time to say the current job was running over, and it would be the following week. The following week came and went, and we went through this up until mid December, when I gave him a 'must be done by' message by text message. The day he had to be there he responded by text, and said he would be ready to start Jan 2. By this time I was fed up, and said he was 'released' from his commitment to do the work. Never again will I interact with this company or man.

Rick, the manager, has a serious communication problem. He never gets back to potential customers, despite repeated requests. We're trying to get our house on the market, and he hasn't returned our call in ten days, despite the fact that he's working in the neighborhood.
