Hmmmm, let me try to sum this up in as little word as possible, since there is so much. I made an appointment with Jack and went to his store to see his pools. I actually was steered to a lower priced model pool, by Jack, which I thought was a bit odd. I wanted the deeper pool and I was looking at a pool with resin top rails. He explained the next lower priced pool was just as good and the steel top rails are stronger. I can tell you now, I wish I would have gone with another company. On the day I was scheduled for Jack's Pools to come do the install, the crew never arrived. I called at noon and was told they got behind on another install, the day before and will be at my home asap. They finally arrived at 4pm. They backed their truck onto my lawn and unloaded their Bobcat to landscape the site and tore a huge gouge in my front lawn--no apologies. During the process, the work men were using my neighbor's bushes as their private urinal. I couldn't believe it. One of the guys had on a T-shirt promoting drug use. I had to answer unwanted questions from my 7 and 10 year old sons, about the meaning of this guys shirt. Some of the guys took their shirts off and one had a tattoo of a naked woman on him! Their behavior was so totally unprofessional! By dark, these guys had only gotten the hole dug. They left without saying a word about when they would be back. In the morning I called Jack's and was told by his wife, they were on the way out. I told her about them urinating outside and she said they are told not to do that, giving me the feeling she didn't believe me. Also, my feeling was, if they had to be told not to do that, they must have done it before. When they arrived, I let them know they could use my facilities if needed--although, even if company policy forbade them from using my facilities, they could have used the fast food joint at the top of our street, the day before. They got the pool erected and I saw it wasn't the pool I had picked out, also the liner in and started filling the pool with water. I learned later, from someone who installs pools, they should have adjusted the liner when the pool had 15 minutes of filling time, to straighten out the wrinkles. Lets say, the bottom liner seam runs a good foot up the sidewall, and the other side of the liner wall is on the bottom of the pool. I called Jack's in the morning to and he told me the pool was the same model, but the company sent a different patterned wall. He also said the liner misalignment wouldn't effect the integrity of the liner. I told him I didn't like the appearance, it looks horrible, and Jack basically said to me, "So sorry, but, too bad for you." The workers showed up after the pool was filled to finish installing the skimmer and hooking up the filter and pump. Then, much to my amazement, they drove off without cleaning up and fixing the damage to my yard. They left huge piles of dirt and roots, all over my yard, not to mention the aforementioned gouges in my front yard, from their Bobcat! Not only the liner was misaligned, the workers didn't put enough sand on the bottom, under the liner, or smooth it out. The first day we used the pool, I noticed there are huge divots in the bottom of my pool surface, where you can feel the hard earth underneath in places. I also noticed, the workers scratched and dented the top rails, and when I was inspecting them, I realized they were not the top rails on the pool I had picked out, at all! The tabs that held them to the pool edge were snapped off on several of them. I again called Jack to voice my concerns about the pool and top-rails, and ask when they were coming back to clean up? All Jack said was, "...this pool was actually a replacement for the other model"; he said the other model was discontinued and this was the one they are replacing it with. I said it was a substandard pool and asked why he told me a few days prior that it was the same pool, he said he made a mistake, but disagreed with me about it being a substandard pool, because it cost him $200 more. He then said, the workers wouldn't be back, that the install fee ($1200) was not a clean up fee. He also said the problem with the tabs on the top-rails wasn't an issue, the integrity of the pool would not be effected, and I could pick up a free can of spray paint at his store, for the scratches on the top-rails. His attitude was like I was a big pain in his side. He even sighed several times during our conversation, I could practically hear his eye-roles. I could not believe he was treating me this way and that he wouldn't order new top-rails for my pool, or, at the very least, run the paint out and have his workers paint the top-rails. Not to mention, his store is 30 miles away from my home! The pool is basically an embarrassment. Everyone who comes to our home comments on it in some way. All I can say is, WOW!!!! This is hands down, the biggest nightmare I've ever had dealing with a company of any kind. I should have gone with Miller Pools. My sister got the pool I originally wanted--the one with the resin top-rails--for $1000 less then I paid for this piece-of-Jack (crap). Miller Pool put in her pool without a hitch. The workers were professional, kept their clothes on, and cleaned up afterward--and best of all, she got the pool she chose! Do yourself a huge favor. DO NOT BUY A POOL FROM JACK'S POOL'S, EVEN IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT!!! Jack is a liar and a thief, in my humble opinion.

Jack was friendly, but was distracted during what was supposed to be our appointment. He seemed to already know what he was going to 'sell' me regardless of my needs. He didn t spend much time asking me questions and immediately told me he'd put in the same pool he'd done hundreds of times. I also had questions about optional equipment and extras. He did not offer advice on these items and included them all in the estimate. It took several calls over several weeks to get an estimate...the estimate itself was shocking. The number was much higher than I had anticipated based on my conversations with other dealers and my Internet research. I continued interviewing other companies and never heard from Jack's Pools to follow up on the estimate.
Description of Work: Had Jack give me an estimate on an in-ground pool.
