After evaluating what we wanted done, his first estimate was $575/unit, for a total of $1725. This was for the rough-in only. With no additional work added, he then told us his total would be $2200. When I asked if that included the permits (about $500), he said yes. Then, a few minutes later, he decided the $2200 did NOT include the permits, and now our total was $2700. When I asked what the increase was for, he just said that was his cost. Very vague. When asked for his license number, he explained why he no longer had it on his van (which he said he knew was the law) and refused to give us his plumber's license number or insurance information. When I asked a second time, in addition to references, he said he would bring that information once we signed the contract. When I informed him we would need that information prior to hiring him, he said he'd get it for us, but never did. Obviously we did not hire, and I don't recommend you do either. Seems shady to us.
