The Fence Co

Gina met with us personally and reviewed our project. In the rain, she measured the yard and discussed the type of fence (chainlink) and how many and kind of gates we wanted. She promptly provided us with an estimate of the services and approximate time frame the work could be performed after acceptance of the proposal. It is quite a large yard and the cost of the job was very reasonable, it even included tearing down an existing smaller fenced in area. When the job commenced, on time, the crew worked very quickly to dig and set the posts. They took pains to make sure the fence line was straight and evenly followed the contours of the landscape. After completing the job, the crew cleaned up all of the left over materials and the old fence and left our yard looking very good. We couldn't be more pleased with the quality of the work and the professionalism of Gina and her team. I would highly recommend The Fence Company to all of my acquaintances and any who ask. We are remodeling our front porch and will be contacting Gina to do the railing on the porch and steps.

Everything went great, minus our sprinkler lines getting cut. Wes did a great job!

They built the fence punctually. But with in a month to six weeks the gate warped. When I contacted them about repairing it, they washed their hands of any responsibility. They said they could come out and repair the gate for another $275. If this had happened a year after the fence was built, it might be understandable, but the fence was just installed! I would never use this company again.

I never received my estimate. I emailed her on April 27, 2013 requesting for my estimate. I never received it. I would not recommend this company.

Once they got started finished in the time estimated

We did not use the Fence Company because she never sent us a quote. Gina came to our house to give us an estimate on our fence. On the phone and in person she lacked a friendliness that most people have in the service industry. Our fence is custom built and in need of repair, but after a few minutes she let us know that she was not interested in repairs but she would give us an estimate on replacement. That was fine. Before she left she wrote down my email address and said she would get me an estimate for the work. A week later I did not hear from her so I send an email. I never received an email response much less an estimate.

When we called for a quote, they came out within a few days and had a quote emailed very soon after that. We were told it would take about 3 weeks for the gates to be produced. Almost exactly 3 weeks later, they were here to install. We love our fence and would definitely used them again!

I was extremely impressed with the company and Gina. Very professional and straight forward. Was able to meet my needs and customize the fence to my specs.

When I called for an estimate Jena came out right away. I was impressed by her response and checked a few others and chose them. There were a few fits and stops, but overall it looks great. The installer did a superior job. The finish fence looks great and detail first rate. If he had a reliable helper the job could have been completed sooner. This by no means take away from me highly recommending this company. He was communative and very willing to explain the work as he did it. My neighbor asked to have their side completed so they could let the dog back into their yard, and he complied.

The work was good, but the actual worker was undependable. The foreman intervined and got that situation straighten out. That was a little frustrating

I would say the initial conversations with the Fence Company left me a little cold. The conversations didn't invoke the good feelings I'd hope to get when about to make a large purchase. However, their price and recommendations on Angie's List were good, so I decided to hire them. From conversations with the owner, I understood that the installers were long time employees of the Fence Co., when in fact they are sub-contractors, not employees. Overall they did a good job on a somewhat difficult install, as our fence is along a steep hill. They didn't clean-up as well as I would have expected. They left piles of dirt and concrete around each fence post and said they would settle into the ground. They didn't, so we ended up removing the dirt and concrete around each post. They also spilled some dry concrete on our driveway, didn't promptly clean it up and it got wet while they were working. We got most of it up after they left, but it marked our driveway. They also drilled into a knot when installing our main gate. When we questioned it, they said it should hold. It hasn't and the gate is loose so we will need to place a service call to have that repaired.

My biggest problem with home improvement projects is always customer service. Finding a company is hard enough, but getting people to return phone calls or even show up for an estimate can make any project drag out for weeks and months. Gina came the very next day after I contacted her for an estimate. It was a miserable day but she was on time and took measurements in the pouring rain. I asked for a few different quotes and she sent me the estimate via email the very same day! I have never had an estimate produced that fast. The weather was starting to turn cold, so it was imperative that the fence get installed before winter, and we were able to schedule quickly and get the work done. The man who installed the fence took three days to complete the project. I did find this a little excessive considering the scope of the job, but it turns out he is a bit of a perfectionist and he just wanted to make sure it turned out well. My only complaint is that the company does not take responsibility for getting all the proper permits. They make the homeowner take care of that. But for the price, which I found was very reasonable, I can let that slide.

I called The Fence Company for a quote. Gina came to my home, reviewed my property for replacing an old privacy fence. She was prompt, courteous and answered all my questions sincerely. I received my quote the same day. Gina actually took the time to come to my home a second time (prior to fence installation) to listen to my idea for a privacy lattice. Again, she was sincere in her opinions and recommendations. Gina is awesome. When she comes to your home, you can feel she cares for your home like it were her own. After that, her crew contacted me for possible installation dates. The installation crew was wonderful and had a great sense of humor. The quality of work is amazing. I have had nothing but compliments from neighbors,friends and family. My total experience was beyond positive. I can not rave enough. There is a little bit of old fencing remaining that I will need replaced in the future. I will only call the Fence Company when that time comes.

I would highly recommend the Fence Company. Gina and all of her staff were prompt, friendly and professional. Gina communicates well through both phone and email. They were able to install our fence in just one afternoon and they did a great job. The installation crew were professional, cleaned up after they were done and completed the job with a high degree of workmanship. The quality of their work is top notch and their price is very reasonable. I wish all contractor and home improvement companies were this good! If you're looking for fence work, use these guys.

Gina came out and reviewed the site to prepare a quote within 2 days of my call. She was on time, courteous, and had solutions for my problem areas. Her quote came in that afternoon, and within 1.5 weeks after accepting it the crew was on site. they were also on time, courteous, and worked hard. they had the job done in a little over a day. everything was done to specification. the crew cleaned up after themselves and the work is outstanding. i cant believe i waited so long to get this job done! thanks Gina and thanks to the work crew from The Fence Company.

Gina (owner) was prompt and professional, gave a written estimate, explained the basis for the pricing, and clearly documented the specs. Scheduling went well (small, quick repair jobs like this one are fit in between larger jobs, but she was clear about how that would work and 24 hour advance notice was provided before they arrived on site). The installer was polite and got right to work. The workmanship was good and the repaired section is now much sturdier than the original fence. A good experience. Will use this company again for future repairs or replacement.

Gina was so helpful and patient with us! We thought we knew what we wanted but changed our minds at least a couple of times about what area of our property we wanted fenced and how high a fence we wanted. She came out and re-measured each time and provided us with new estimates. During this time, she added Greg to her staff, and all of our subsequent conversations were with him. We found him to be very pleasant, helpful, and professional. We can't say enough about Jeff and his crew. The quality of their workmanship was outstanding! The fence looks perfect! The only issue we had was that we initially opted for oak boards when the price was the same as poplar, and there was a shortage of poplar. When the boards were delivered by the supplier, we were not pleased with the quality. Many of the boards were warped and split. I called Greg to complain, advising that I did not want the crew to install them, and that I would prefer they use poplar if this was what I could expect from oak boards. Greg was very understanding and accommodating. He arranged for the supplier to take back the oak and deliver poplar boards instead, and the Fence Company did not charge me any extra for this. It was obvious to me that the Fence Company stands by the quality of their work, and that my satisfaction was of utmost importance to them. I am very pleased with my fence, and my overall experience with the Fence Company.

They had to sink extra poles in the front of the cement steps so the poles would reach. Wes had to leave and get the poles and it added an extra day to the job. Our house is built on a creek bed so everywhere you dig you hit rock. Wes hit a few big rocks when digging the post holes so that delayed the work also. The fence had quite a few nicks and scratches but Gina came out to inspect the fencing after completion and also left a can of spray paint for touch ups. We plan to eventually get the back yard fenced in for the dogs.

I originally sent an E-mail on June 19 asking about how to get an estimate to have part of my fence repaired. Over the next two days, I exchanged several E-mails and pictures of the area and we agreed on a price and repairs on June 21. I signed a proposal and sent it along with a check for 50% of the cost on the 21st, and I was told I would be contacted by the operations manager for scheduling. Over the next seven days, my check was cashed, but I hadn't heard from anyone about scheduling. I sent an E-mail on June 28 asking when I could expect to hear from them and when something could get scheduled, and the next day, June 29, I got a call from the operations manager. He told me that he could do the repair on the week of July 9-13, and that he would call me on Monday, July 9 to set up a time. By the evening of July 9 I still hadn't heard from anybody, so I sent yet another E-mail. I explained the situation and that I hadn't heard from them, and if I couldn't get my fence fixed by Thursday of that week, that I'd rather just get my deposit back and find someone else to repair it. I heard nothing back until Friday evening, July 13. I got a phone call from the operations manager, wanting to schedule the repair for that Monday, July 16. He mentioned that he didn't want to schedule the repair during that week because the excessive heat would hurt productivity, which I told him I would have been fine with if I had gotten a phone call or an E-mail and an offer to reschedule. I told him I was busy that weekend (even when he called me) and that I probably wouldn't be available on Monday, and that I had already decided I just wanted to find someone else to do the repair at this point, and he said that if I changed my mind, to call him on Monday and he would schedule the repair for that week, July 16-20. Against my better judgement, I called on Monday and left a voice mail saying that I would be available on Wednesday the 18th, and if that wouldn't work, I would be out of town until July 30th and could schedule something then. The next day, I got a voice mail while I was at work saying that he would call me in a couple of hours to schedule for that Wednesday the 18th, but I never got another call. At this point, I gave up and am now in the process of getting my 50% deposit back. It seems that they can't be bothered to schedule anything with me, and I wonder how long it would have gone until I heard from them if I didn't repeatedly send E-mails asking when I could expect to have my fence repaired. I'm not saying The Fence Company is a scam, but with them taking my money and then seemingly trying to avoid me for as long as possible, that's certainly what it feels like.

I recently moved to a new home and at the same time joined Angie's List. I found The Fence Company had excellent ratings and fair pricing according to the myriad of reviews I read. I called up Gina, and she came out and gave me an estimate within several days. I found Gina to be very professional in her behaviors and enjoyable to talk to. She told me work on the fence would begin in approximately 10 days. The installers showed up as promised, but they left after a few hours. No one showed up the next day and no one called. I discovered through conversation with William, the installer, that he and his helper were subcontractors and had never been given my phone number to let me know his truck broke down and they were stuck in Kentucky. He also said he only knew measurements but wasn't given any kind of drawing to show him where gates were to be located. He talked badly about the company and said he wished he had never taken the job. Communication between company and subcontractor was a problem. I told William where I would like one of the gates, and he explained why it would be better somewhere else (more level). I told him put the gates wherever it would be easiest to install; so he did. The two men dug every post hole by hand. I was surprised that they didn't use a machine to help with this time -consuming ordeal. This was now during those 100 degree days. I was concerned for their health and thought working in the heat of the day was a little absurd. Most days they would show up anywhere from 9:30 to 10:30 and work until 4 or 5. Work on the fence continued from Tuesday 6/26/2012 to Monday 7/2/12. William struggled with putting the gates on so they would open properly, having to redo 2 of them. In general, I would have preferred the whole fence to have been lower in height, but I didn't realize the situation until posts had been set in concrete and railings were being put in. That was my fault for not being more specific at the beginning, but I didn't know I needed to be. By the end of the job, I was just ready to be able to open the door and let the dogs out, I no longer cared what it looked like. I have a split-rail fence with wire and 3 gates that will keep my dogs from leaving my back yard. William and his helper were both polite and respectful around me. I do have to question hiring people who needed to borrow my wheelbarrow and hammer to do their job. Actually, I was surprised that The Fence Company had subcontractors. No one had identification on the truck, shirts, or anywhere. ***UPDATE*** This review is a continuation of my previous review for a fence installation on my property. I have had several phone calls to and from Gina and Greg at The Fence Company. They are both extremely professional and want to ensure that as a customer I am satisfied. My concerns about subcontractors and height of fence were discussed, and I understand better why they use subcontractors and why the fence is as tall as it is. I talked to Gina after I posted my review to Angie's List. Apparently, the subcontractor stated to her in a meeting that I had a problem with people who have tattoos and discussed spiritual implications of having tattoos. For the record, we had no such discussion and what was said is not even a belief of mine. As a result of our conversations, I am much more satisfied with The Fence Company. My ratings have changed due to their willingness to take the time to explain and discuss matters involving the work done at my home. I also want to thank them for their honesty and using quality material and providing a much needed peace of mind about the safety of my pets.

Obtained three bids with Fence Company being the least expensive. However, because of the glowing reports on Angie's List, we felt comfortable choosing this company. In addition, we felt Gina was very professional and knowledgeable when giving her bid and she was exactly on time for appt.Received a call early in week and was told fence would be installed on Friday. It was requested that one of us be at home. My husband (Mark) has more flexibility with work and offered to worked from home Friday morning. Got a confirmation call on Thursday about the job yet Friday morning received a call from the installer that he had a doctor appt and would arrive after that. He called around 12:30 to say he was leaving appt and would pick up supplies and be there in an hour. My husband came back home from the office and waited several more hours for the installer to arrive late afternoon. Being the end of the day, the installer discussed details of job with my husband, dropped off materials and said he would be back Wednesday to do the job. Since Mark had a chance to talk with him Friday afternoon, he did not have to take more time away from office during actual installation.The installer did come on Wednesday and did a nice job installing the fence. We are pleased with the overall results. However,due to our experience, I had to give a low rating for punctuality. Would use them again and hope this experience of delayed installation was an isolated event!

I had a great experience with the personnel of The Fence Company, Gina and Wes were great to work with. The pricing was fair and the work is excellent. My yard is on a downhill grade in some areas and on an uphill grade in other areas. I'm sure it was beyond typical in that respect since it is a small yard but my fence is beautiful, it follows the grade so nicely. I live in a congested area so the fence makes my yard so much more private, it improved the appearance and VIEW from my back yard 100%! Thanks Gina and Wes!

They installed a Kentucky board fence and they made a special provision to put a double wide gate in. I had them do this so that I could have a patio put in and not have the fence tore up. They did not mind that the neighborhood kids were watching and my dog has not escaped through the fence. I liked everything about them.

GINAS CREW DID AN OUTSTANDING JOB. THEY ARRIVED ON TIME. PROCEEDED TO GET TO WORK AND DID NOT STOP FOR OVER 6 HOURS WHEN THE PROJECT WAS FINISHED. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM.

We LOVE our privacy fence! Gina and Wes from The Fence Company are exceptional professionals to work with. Gina, the owner took the extra time to help us determine different design and price options for what we wanted to achieve. She is very easy to work with and delivers a great product. Wes, the “Master fence engineer” (as we’ve dubbed him) seamlessly installed over 300’ of privacy fence and topped it off with a roll-top cut. (He could probably install a fence in his sleep; he made it look so easy) Wes even took the time to speak with our neighbors, as they stopped by to see the progress. He helped one of our neighbors connect a portion of his split rail fence to our privacy fence. Wes was also great with suggestions on how to work the fence around a couple obstacles in our yard. We have received many positive comments from our family, friends and neighbors on how great the fence looks!
