We just purchased a foreclosed home that had water back up in the basement, which resulted in a mold issue. We've used Bobby for foundation work, crawl space waterproofing and he's looked at multiple homes for us prior to us making a purchase. He helped us keep from making a big mistake on a home that we had an accepted contract on.So, on our new house, when we saw the mold, we called to have him take a look. We don't really know if the price was good or not, we care more about our experience with the great jobs the Basement Doctor has done for us in the past. So, we hired them to do the mold remediation. They showed up when they were supposed to and did the work we contracted for. Bobby found that a dehumidifier that we had previously purchased wasn't working to full capacity, so for no additional charge, he had it fixed for us. We've come to know Bobby through the work we've had done in the past, and he and his company have always worked with us on the work and the price. Just like the dehumidifier, he has found unforeseen issues issues and has just taken care of it for no additional charge. They have always taken the time to meet with us and answer any questions we might have. We highly recommend them for any job that fits within the services that they offer.

Harry, the foreman, and his two workers were excellent. They wrapped items so as to protect them from dust. They cleaned the floor when they were done which was nice. They were all courteous, well-mannered, on-time, and finished their work as promised. They were very neat.
Description of Work: They cut out the floor about eight inches in the basement. They installed a drain and did electric work. Lastly, they installed 13 steel pillars along the wall.

I noticed a large crack in the corner of my foundation on both sides of the corner - it looks as if a large chunk of concrete will fall off. I called J & D Basement Systems for a 2nd opinion - I had it inspected 10 days earlier by another company. After Dave Burford completed his inspection, I was told I needed 5 braces that could be installed from the basement so my landscaping would not be disturbed. The total cost $9850. I told him this surprised me as I had a another company assure me my problem was strictly cosmetic. Throughout the course of the inspection & discussion afterwards Mr. Burford was pushy, overbearing & patronizing. He insisted, obviously, that he was the expert & it was his opinion I should have this work done immediately. Because of the disparity in results, I contacted a licensed civil engineer who specializes in structural, soil & water problems. After a 3 hour, $400 inspection, it was confirmed my foundation is intact, the problem is COSMETIC!! Best $400 I ever spent!

I had looked up on Angie's list a company that got good reviews and this company was the only one that I saw consistent good reviews. I called them and Dave came out that week. He was very informative and friendly..not pushy or overbearing. We both came up with a basement plan I liked and a couple days later the crew showed up. The forman, Mike introduced himself and then went to work, The jackhammering was loud but to be expected for the work I was having done. Mike would always let me know when they were leaving and when they would be back. I was also impressed by the way they made sure the gates were closed as I have dogs that could have gotten out. I was amazed how much work they got done in such a short time. They really knew what they were doing. Dave came out to check on things and gave me his cell phone if "I have any concerns or questions" not to hesitate to call. I liked that. It took less than a week to complete all that I was having done and Mike then took me around to show me what was done and to answer any questions. He also said if I thought of any questions to be sure and contact the company. I usually second guess myself when I am spending so much money on something as to 'what have I done'. But not with this company. I was comfortable with them from start to finish and would and will recommend them to anyone that needs basement work done.

Their prices were higher than what our general contractor had imagined it would be. However, I used them because I felt it was the right thing to do. The general contractor had thought through several prospective organizations and he had recommended J & D Basement Systems. They seemed as competent as any other company. They worked quickly. They were tidy. They did what they had to do and it seems to have worked.
Description of Work: I used J & D Basement Systems for waterproofing my basement. They also waterproofed an underground garage that has been converted into a living space. They did the work, a year and a half ago.

J&D were professional throughout. We were told two, maybe three days on the job, but they only took one! We weren't in any hurry, but still a pleasant surprise! They were curteous, and communicated throughout the process, from estimate, scheduling, on to the job and completion. We received a number of estimates for our basement, and J&D were a bit high, however, we are extremely pleased with the quality of the job and believe we got what we paid for. To reinforce it all, we had a big storm the night after they were finished. The result? Not a drop of water in the basement!

The crew was on-time, courteous and efficient. This is by nature a very messy process, but every effort was made to minimize dust and debris. These young men WORKED! All the concrete from basement was carried out by hand in 5 gallon buckets All wet concrete for finish was mixed by hand and carried IN the same way. All work was completed in 2 1/2 days. When completed the crew leader walked through job with me and explained what had been done and made sure all was completed to my satisfaction. We also have 7 pets, and the guys were very cautious that doors and gate were always secured. The 3 dogs hung out in the yard with them.
Description of Work: Our finished basement was damaged by the torrential rainstorm on June 25th. The work performed included repair of a foundation crack (done from outside) and complete waterproofing of basement (done from inside). Also had new sump pump system installed. The foundation crack was repaired by hand digging out the dirt to find crack and sealing it. Inside, the floor was jackhammered and dug out to install waterproofing system.

Sales guy was great, very low pressure and knowledgeable. Project manager seemed reasonable and professional. Work was done as I expected it. But here's the weird stuff: This is a very messy job and at the end the project manager just shrugs his shoulders at my wife and says something like "Usually we would clean up after the job, but we don't have a mop." Additionally, while crawlspaces tend to be tight things that one has to climb in to (as is the case with ours), these folks didn't bring a ladder. Instead, they climbed on our dehumidifier and shimmied themselves in and out, as evidenced by the shoe scuffs on the wall. And it's not like they hadn't done a site inspection -- they did. Twice. And took pictures. So, I imagine that there were ample opportunities to say "Hey, we should bring a ladder" and "Hey, this is messy work. Why don't we bring cleaning supplies?". A real shame, too. If it weren't for these really unnecessary things, I would have given them much higher ratings. They did good work. They didn't misrepresent what they were proposing to do for us. They were nice, polite, and professional. We're satisfied with the job. Yet, I am left having a hard to saying whether I'd use them again or recommend them (you have to pick yes or no above -- I would have left it unanswered had I been able to do so). If they just paid attention to all the details, they would be providing a superior offering.

He looked over the affected area, and worked through some possibilities with me. Reassured me that it was a seal plate leak and went outside to talk me through some of the problem solving to do to find the source - i.e. gutters, window seals, etc. Spent approx 15 min with me and gave me some good suggestions to try and problem solve it myself. Felt that he was VERY honest and helpful, seemed to know his 'stuff' really well.

The experience was excellent. They were respectful and took the time to explain things to me. The other thing that I liked is that we were not going to have it done right away, but the owner of the company came out to see us to see what they could do to get the contract. So he came out and he dropped some dollars off, which was incentive for us to go ahead and do it. He took his time with us and didn t rush us though. He told us that he is on-call 24 hours and I believe it because that was his whole demeanor. He would do whatever was necessary to keep his customers happy. I have actually never seen that before.

This company has been great to work with. They stand behind their products and service and have been very responsive. First was the wall crack repair which worked great; however, not long after, the spring brought a terrible rain that left water coming in every little floor crack in this 85 year old basement floor, about 1500 square feet. The company came within hours of calling them. I agreed to have the WaterGuard system installed. An even bigger rain came within a month, and while the system collected a great deal of water that would have flooded my basement yet again, there was still some water coming in some of the worse cracks that left the floor moist. I was not comfortable having the drywall replaced, putting down carpet, etc. I called, and they immediately came again, assuring me they would stand behind their work. A month later, at their cost (no cost to me), they sprayed down the floor with an antibacterial and applied 2 coats of the epoxy coating. I waited 6 months and have had no further problems. We haven't had a big, big rain but I have felt comfortable enough to refinish the basement. In the end, this company really impressed me with their integrity, which is rare these days.
Description of Work: J&D installed a Flexispan system for a basement concrete wall crack. Later in the year they installed an interior waterproofing system including a full perimeter collection piping and sump pump (they call their WaterGuard system) with battery backup. Later, they coated the entire floor surface with an epoxy coating called HydroSeal.

When I got the estimate, the salesman arrived on time and was very helpful and informative. He explained exactly what was going on and how they could fix it. They presented the picture clearly and I felt positive that these guys would get it done right. But while talking to me there was some confusion. They asked me to sign something that I thought was an estimate, but turned out to be a contract for work! I distinctly remember asking if this was anything that would obligate me to have them do the work, and the salesman assured me that it wasn't binding. That turned out to be true, when they started to call to schedule the work, I said I hadn't decided. They said I had signed a contract. After a short discussion, we decided that it was a misunderstanding and my basement is still wet. In the end I feel like these guys would be a good pick, but I feel a little suspect to the salesmanship I got.

The lady I spoke to was very rude. She told me it would be about 3 weeks before they could get out here. I told her I wanted to go ahead and set an appointment, but that I would be checking to see if I could get other companies out here sooner to give estimates. I advised her that I would notify them as far in advance if I chose to cancel my appointment. She very rudely advised me that she only wanted to reserve an appointment if I was going to commit to keeping it. I told her I planned on keeping the appointment but wanted estimates from other companies as well and had no guarantee that I wouldn't need to cancel the appointment. She said she would schedule an appointment if I insisted. I told her I didn't feel the desire to do business with her company if her behavior was any indication of how the company operates.

WE DO NOT HAVE A RECORD OF THIS MEMBER'S PHONE CALL IN OUR DATABASE. WE DO NOT KEEP PHONE CALL INFORMATION, IF AN ESTIMATE APPOINTMENT IS NOT SET. HOWEVER, IT IS CERTAINLY NOT OUR COMPANY POLICY TO BE RUDE TO THE PUBLIC. WE APOLOGIZE THAT THIS MEMBER PERCEIVED ONE OF OUR STAFF MEMBER'S URGENCY RUDENESS. DUE TO THESE RECENT WEEKS OF FLOODING; OUR APPOINTMENT SCHEDULE IS BOOKED OUT IN SOME AREAS AS FAR AS THREE WEEKS. OUR STAFF HAS BEEN TAKING HUNDREDS OF ESTIMATE CALLS FROM 8A.M. TO 7P.M., NON-STOP FOR WEEKS. WE UNDERSTAND THAT CIRCUMSTANCES COME UP WHICH MAY REQUIRE AN APPOINTMENT TO BE CANCELED AND RESET. IN FACT WE ENCOURAGE FOLKS TO OBTAIN MORE THAN ONE ESTIMATE. HOWEVER, WITH SO MANY PEOPLE NEEDING AN ESTIMATE AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE, WE ARE HESITANT TO SET AN APPOINTMENT WITH SOMEONE WHO TELLS US THEY WILL CANCEL IF THEY GET ANOTHER ESTIMATE QUICKER. OUR ESTIMATES ARE FREE TO HOMEOWNERS AND WE WORK VERY HARD TO ACCOMMODATE SCHEDULES FROM 9A.M. - 7P.M. MONDAY - FRIDAY, AND FROM 9A.M. - 12P.M. ON SATURDAYS.

J&D Plumbing sent us a beautiful information packet, which was very educational. The rep was very courteous and explained various methods to fix the problem. However we felt the solutions he offered was very expensive, and was not focused on fixing our particular problem. Also had minimum specifications of 30 linear feet which we did not require. The extent of our job was less than their minimum requirement. We would recommend them for large jobs but they may not be suitable for smaller jobs. Estimated cost was $5,000.

The whole job went extremely well from start to finish. "AJ" came to the house at the appointed time and quickly diagnosed the problem and gave me a detailed description of what would be done, the cost, etc. which I considered for a few days and then called AJ back for some more questions about minimizing damage to the finished wall. He actually made a second trip to the house to take pictures, etc. so he could talk with the man who would actually do the work so he knew what was needed to minimize damage. The worker called the day the work was to be done to confirm his arrival time and came as promised. The work was completed as described with minimal damage to the finished wall so I could easily repair it. We have had many heavy rains since the repair and have no sign of any water in the basement. I received calls from both AJ and another J&D employee during the next several weeks to check on the quality of the job and my satisfaction. Of course I am very satisfied.
Description of Work: I called J&D because of a water leak which I had traced to a section of my basement wall which was behind a finished plaster board wall. I had also noticed a crack in the foundation on the outside in the same area as the leak, but wasn't sure if the crack was actually the problem or if it was something else. J&D came out and after looking over the situation assured me that the crack was the problem. They recommended repair with their Flex-Span system which is designed for just this purpose and said it was guaranteed for the life of the house even if I sold it. I was concerned with damage that might be done to the finished wall in order to get to the area that needed repair since it required jack-hammering a 10" X 10" hole in the basement floor at the bottom of the crack in the wall. J&D worked with me to minimize the damage and make it relatively easy to repair after their work was done.

Fabulous! After the work was complete, there was a rainstorm to "test" the fix. There was one small area in the crack that had a bit of seepage, and J&D came out immediately and fixed the area. The work is guaranteed for life and is transferable to the next owners, which is very important for resale. Now we don't have to worry at all when it rains. There is no seepage, leaking, etc. We are extremely pleased. The price was VERY reasonable, service was great and results was what we hoped for.
Description of Work: Our basement had a crack that ran vertically down the wall, from the place where the water pipe came into the house. The amount of water that would come into the basement during rainstorms was significant. I bailed and mopped over 40 gallons of water during the three-day rain we had in November.
