+ -1 morePossibly the best experience I have had with any trade/service provider. Mike Detmer does great work, charges a very fair price, and is careful about his work area and cleaning up. Usually our work is repairs during a rehab of a house, so he can get to it when it's convenient for him, but occasionally we need something done right away and he is always responsive to fitting this in. Just a great experience all around.
Description of Work: Various work in several properties, ranging from replacing a single valve to augering drains, replacing water heater element, etc.

+ -1 moreI work a typical 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. job so his prompt attention to the repair enabled me to not lose much time at work that day. The toilet is securely in place and the toilet no longer leaks. I am confident that the problem is fixed and it will not happen again. I would definitely use this company again and would recommend Detmer Plumbing to my friends and family. I have added this company to my rolodex for future plumbing needs. I feel he was honest and charged a fair price for the job.
Description of Work: We live in a third floor condo and one of our toilets was leaking into our neighbor's unit below. Michael Detmer (owner and master plumber) responded to the call. I described the problem over the telephone and he knew right away what the problem might be. He was punctual and repaired the problem in less than 60 minutes. The problem dated back to when the condominiums were built back in the 1970's. The original plumber did not install something correctly (I think he said the flange that the toilet was bolted into) so the screws that are supposed to hold the toilet in place could not be screwed down properly. He pulled the toilet, fixed the problem by replacing the broken and improperly installed part(s), then he reset the toilet, screwed it down firmly, and recaulked around the toilet.

+ -1 moreI wasn't sure what was wrong but we were not getting hot water in our shower. I hoped it was not the hot water heater as I knew that would be very pricey. One of the two brothers who own Detmer Plumbing came in a timely fashion and assessed the problem and fixed it that day. He was very knowledgeable, professional, and quick. I have used Detmer for many other plumbing problems over the past 9 years, and they have always been great.
Description of Work: Replaced a faulty handle in shower and adjusted faucet. Hot water was not coming out but we believed it was not because of the hot water heater (Detmer Plumbing had replaced one of the tanks a few years earlier--and I was hoping the other tank had not gone bad).

Super nice guy, did great work, took extra time to show me where all the important shut off valves were in our new house, and didn't mind our two little boys running around the house.

+ -1 moreGreat company! We have used on several occasions and have always been pleased. The first time we used Detmer we had them install a toilet. Once installed, i noticed a tiny leak the next day. I called Detmer and within one hour they were here to fix the problem. This latest time I called on Tuesday evening. Mike called back on Wednesday morning (as they always call you back the next day as they are a small business) and was here later that morning to replace the seal in our kitchen faucet. This company has great customer service and does a great job. Would highly recommend!

Description of Work: My garbage disposal stopped working which also affected my dishwasher performance so I needed a repair quickly. They were able to come the same day and repair the problem. I have a very busy schedule and the fact that they recognize and act on emergencies is an enormous plus! I can't say enough about Detmer Plumbing, I've used their services for 16-years and they have never once disappointed me and go above and beyond to resolve my plumbing issues as well as installed a hot water heater. Their quality of work, professionalism and friendly attitudes over the years have made unpleasant plumbing experiences a lot less painful!

+ -1 moreThis is the second time I've used Mike. I called and left a message on what needed to be done and what day was good for me. He showed up at the designated time, was very professional and friendly. Since I don't have a basement, he had to go through the pipes in the kitchen areas to unclog the portion of the pipe clogged up by the fibers from the washer. It was a big clog, but he took care of it in a little over an hour.
Description of Work: Mike removed a clog in a pipe. This clog was because of fibers from the washer. Since the washer is in the kitchen, it drains directly into a pipe, instead of a tub. This makes it hard to catch the fibers that leave the wsher. The connector pipe is also the connector pipe that drains the kitchen sink. So, with the clog, the washer water was backing up into the kitchen sink, as well as backing up and spilling out of the pipe where the water was emptying from the washer. It was a mess.

+ -1 moreMike was responsive, returned calls promptly, listened carefully and gave me good advice that may save me hundreds of dollars in repairs.
Description of Work: Very Responsive...I explained to Mike over the phone that I had a sluggish drain that had been "snaked" repeatedly. Since I am handy myself, Mike suggested I add a part to the drainage line from the sink so that it would be properly vented. I will try this, but whether it works or not, I appreciate the great advice and won't hesitate using Detmer Plumbing in the future.
