+ 0 moreAbout two years ago, my husband and I purchased a home that was built in 1931 and neglected by the previous owner for the past 50 years. Needless to say, we are dealing with a variety of contractors on a regular basis. Of all the companies we have worked with, Superior Landscaping has proven to be the most reliable by far. Mark returned every call promptly and arrived at our house when he said he would - or early! This alone was a real treat compared to others. Mark is very knowledgeable and helpful. When it came time to pick out our new tree, he actually brought a tree book with him so I could see what the mature tree would look like. Everything was done exactly as outlined in his original proposal and completed very neatly and professionally. We hope to use Mark this spring for a complete redo of some very unattractive front yard landscaping.
Description of Work: Mark hauled away the remains of a huge ground-out stump, filled resulting hole with top soil, planted new October Glory Maple tree, staked and mulched new tree, drastically trimmed three over-grown Forsythia and hauled away debris.

+ 0 moreIt doesn't get any better than this. I wish I could give this contractor a higher grade than "A", as they exceeded every expectation from start to finish. The owner, Mark Goulding, promptly returned our initial phone call, showed up to take measurements for an estimate, which he delivered when he said he would. He gave us a start date and called to say they could start a day early. He followed up when he said he would, kept in touch as the job progressed, and sat down with us when the job was over to see if everything was done as expected and to our liking. Mark was on the job working every day and even worked one day in the rain. His "team" was polite, quiet and cleaned up the job site at the end of each day.
Description of Work: Leveled high spots and built-up low spots in back yard lawn and re-seeded. Lowered fence posts that were lifting out of the ground. Leveled high spots and re-seeded areas in front lawn. Completely removed all plants in front flower beds. Designed and installed new landscape plants and mulch in front beds. Completely removed a narrow concrete sidewalk leading from driveway to front porch. Installed a new (wider) paver sidewalk leading from driveway to front porch. Built a beautiful retaining wall around front beds. Installed landscape/house lighting in front yard. Mulched around all trees in back and front yard.

+ -1 moreMark was very friendly, honest and pleasant to work with. He came to our house to discuss our wishes for this project. He took our wish list and proposed a great design for our patio. He helped us select our pavers and stone for the pillars, seating wall and steps. He also guided us with landscape lighting and recommended patterns and accents to complement the design of our patio. He was good at communicating with us throughout the project. This project was large and I felt that Mark and his crew took the time to make sure it was right. They paid a lot of attention to detail. They arrived at the same time every day and cleaned up the site every evening before going home. My husband and I are extremely satisfied with the work that Superior Landscaping did!!
Description of Work: Mark designed and built a patio on the rear of our house using Unilock pavers that turned out to be approximately 600+ square feet. The patio has three steps coming out our back door with a landing, three pillars, a seating wall and a 54" wide built in Viking grill. Mark also installed a sidewalk using pavers that leads to our driveway. The patio was installed on top of a 5 inch base of compacted limestone gravel and a 1 inch layer of sand. A compactor is used to press the pavers into 1/2 inch of the sand. Jointing sand and brick edging is used to keep the pavers in place. Finishing touches such as landscape and patio lighting, trees for privacy and reconfiguration of our sprinkling system were also part of this job. At the end of this project, we have a beautiful patio that has an eating area with a grill and another area for a fire pit. We will enjoy it for many years to come.

+ -1 moreGreat overall experience. Mark was easy to reach and always responded promptly to voicemail. His estimate was fair and accurate. We had to reschedule the start date due to heavy rains and Mark communicated this to us immediately and he was able to postpone our start date by only one day. He and his associate were very prompt and pleasant and the job was completed even earlier than I'd expected. They left the site very clean (used a blower to remove excess dirt from driveway, etc.). I would definitely hire Mark and his crew for future projects.
Description of Work: Graded and seeded back yard. Brought in 7 yards of topsoil to fill in low areas and to grade entire back yard so water would flow to back of property. Once the lawn was graded, starter fertilizer, lime and seed were put down and raked into the soil. The seeded area was then covered with straw.
