Mr. Knotek returned my message on Angie's List within just a few minutes of leaving the message. He was able to schedule my appointment within a few days of my contacting him. He was punctual and very respectful! He took extra time to explain the problems that my piano has been experiencing. He showed me where my piano was broken. He also took extra time to explain what his recommendation would be for my piano. He was very knowledgeable and experienced. I will definitely be using him again in the future!

He doesn't miss anything. He tunes the piano without a machine which makes a difference. He is very fair in pricing and takes the time to get the job done completely. He will come back if anything is missed. If you need him urgently, he is very accommodating.

George braved very snow conditions and arrived to tune our piano. Upon opening the piano he determined that it also needed a cleaning as it had never been done. Upon further investigation he found two strings missing that had to be replaced. He informed us of the additional work that needed to be done and the cost which we approved. Before cleaning, he covered the furniture with drop cloths and so began what turned out to be a long process. Our piano provided George with some unexpected problems which he expertly fixed. The piano sounds wonderful. In spite of the extended amount of time George spent, the cost was very close to what he told us before he started. I highly recommend calling George Knotek to tune, clean or repair your piano. He is very professional and did a wonderful job.

13Feb2015 Angie's List Greetings: It's my pleasure to comment on the service I received recently from a piano tuner who is listed with you as a service provider. I have a 100 year old Steinway A grand piano which I have enjoyed since about 1980. It had been rebuilt before I acquired it, but there was a cluster of 4 notes two octaves up from middle C which had never been fully functioning as they should have been. Over the years I have tried many tuners, some of whom have been Angie's List members. None , not one, had ever made those notes voice properly until George Knotek evaluated and repaired my piano. It took a lot of time to repair, and I was happy to pay the extra money for the time it took to do it right. I have no way of knowing, to be fair, whether the demands of the repair exceeded the ability of the prior tuners or not, but I know that, although it was a demanding repair, it was not beyond the ability of George Knotek. I commend George to anyone who wants a truly professional restoration, repair, or just a tuning. He came prepared with all the tools and equipment to do whatever might have been required. If any of your subscribers feels that his piano deserves the very best in maintenance so that he can enjoy the maximum satisfaction from playing it, he should absolutely consider calling George Knotek for his next tuning. We purchased an old (circa 1910) 6' grand piano earlier this year that was severely out of tune. George performed a double tuning and it sounded beautiful. When the weather turned (and humidity in the house was less), the piano fell out of tune with some tuning pins now loose in the tuning block (presume tuning block dried after change of season). On a second visit George was able to repair all the loose pins, re-tune and the piano again sounds amazing. This old piano isn't the easiest instrument to work on. But George stuck with it we are very happy with the result. There is a little bit of magic in the piano after George finishes tuning. He has a great ear.

As Mr. Knotek left our house, he asked that we write a review for Angie's list. So here it is: 1. When we made the appointment for Mr. Knotek to tune our piano, he said it would cost in the neighborhood of $100. 2. After briefly looking at our piano, Mr. Knotek declared it to be untunable. He said that he could repair it for approximately $5000, and also suggested that we might want to buy a Steinway. 3. Mr. Knotek barely touched our piano, but did manage to put at least one key more out of tune than it was. 4. Nevertheless, he gave us a bill for $79.88 ? which we paid. 5. That night, Mr. Knotek called and left a message on our voicemail, asking that we call back. We thought maybe he wanted to apologize. Instead, he wanted to know if he had left behind an index card he had written. 6. We have no idea if Mr. Knotek is good at tuning pianos.

George is great. Very professional and very knowledgeable. He worked around my schedule and actually came out on a Sunday to tune my piano. I inherited the piano and I don't think it has been tuned for probably 15 years, by the time george was done tuning, it sounded GREAT! Thanks George.

I called Mr. Knotek and he was able to make an appointment to tune the piano in less than a week. On the day of the tuning, he called before arriving. He was professional, but friendly, and finished the work in about an hour and a half. He explained the minor repairs that needed to be made and how much they would cost, then proceeded to make them. The repairs cost $10, but Mr. Knotek gave us a $10 discount because we found his name on Angie's List! When I made the appointment, I spoke to Mr. Knotek directly, and told him that my piano had not been tuned in 5 years. He said that, since it had been so long since the last tuning, it might need a "double tuning" and that would cost $130. After examining the piano, he said it did not need the "double tuning," so his charge was $100 plus tax. I play the piano on a daily basis, and it is a joy to have it back in tune. Mr. Knotek has been in the business a long time and does good work.
