The installers arrived right on time at 9:30am. My wife and I had moved the majority of the furniture out, but a couple couches were too heavy for her so the installers helped me. 4 people installed my carpet (80 square yards) and the entire job including clean up and moving the couches back in was completed in 90 minutes! They may not send that many people to every job, but I was expecting it to be at least 3-4 hours so it was great to have it completed so quickly. We are planning to list our house for sale soon so I purchased carpet that was on the cheaper side, but it's actually a lot nicer than I was expecting. Someone else left a review stating that there were lots of scuff marks on the trim and walls. I did have some minor scuff marks on my trim that had been painted, but after they left I touched them up in 2 minutes. Also, it clearly states on their website and quote that there may be minor scuff marks so it shouldn't be a surprise. You will have that with anyone who installs your carpet. As long as their prices are good, I will plan on using them again in the future.

Soft Step is a great company! Owner Jay Kennard gave us a fair price on replacing our old carpet in the family room and master bedroom, and recommended an alternate layout of the new carpet we selected so that the location of seams would be visibly minimized. The three-man crew worked efficiently and quickly, and finished the job with everything put back into place in about 3 hours. Jay always responded promptly to phones calls or texts when we had questions. I would highly recommend Soft Step Carpet!

Bobby was great to work with. He brought samples to our house and helped us pick the right carpet for our space. He was personable and helpful. Jay was very responsive to questions and kept us informed of our delivery date which had a slight delay in the carpet delivery to their warehouse. He still installed it the same day promised, just late in the day. It snowed that day and my garage floor was wet so he couldn't cut the carpet on site. They took it back to the warehouse to cut it and came back. As inconvenient as that was for them, they didn't complain. The carpet quality is awesome! We will use them in the future!

We had 6 rooms carpeted plus a staircase. Carpet had to be removed from 2 of the rooms. We priced both Home Depot and Soft Step. Soft Step was significantly less expensive. Quality of work was very good. Sales Rep and Installation Manager were professional. I did not meet the Installation Manager in person, but talked to him via phone on a couple of occasions. The B rating for Professionalism was determined as follows: Sales Rep and Installation Manager = A; Installation Foreman = B; Crew = A. From the beginning this was described as a one-day install. When the crew arrived, they let me know they were short on padding and the warehouse was closed (Saturday). I told him that this had to be done in one day as promised and they would have to get padding elsewhere. He then said that even if they got padding, they would not be able to finish because 6 rooms was too much for one day. Well, it turns out that the foreman just didn't want to have to work a full day. I left the Installation Manager a message regarding the situation and that this had to be a one-day install. Approximately, 90 minutes later, the Installation Manager dropped off the necessary padding. The crew was still done by 3pm (9am start time). Other than this exchange with the foreman, the foreman and crew were professional and polite and did a good job. I would recommend Soft Step to anyone.

Mindy from Soft Step was great from beginning to end. She came out to our house on multiple occasions to drop off various samples as we were pretty picky as to what we wanted. She was very patient from beginning to end. I was able to text her whenever neaded to answer any questions. I also went out to the main showroom and this was very helpful. They also just hold a check for your deposit until they actually do the install. Don't hesitate to give Mindy a call.

Our initial contacts with our salesperson, Mindy, were fantastic. She came to our home with carpet samples and was terrific about helping us select the best carpeting for our needs. The installers did a terrific job of actually installing our carpeting. The reason for the B is that they left stretch nails in that we had to remove ourselves. Also, in moving our furniture, our hardwood floor was scratched. They were friendly and helpful and the carpeting looks terrific.

We had friends use Bobby and we were pleased with the feedback they gave us. He came to our house with multiple samples and he had a good selection of carpet in all different price ranges. From the time we ordered the carpet came in less than 10 days and they called to schedule the install. The installers were polite and worked quickly, and we were very pleased with the finished product. We have passed their info along to other friends and would use him again in the future.

I recently bought a condo and was doing a lot of painting and repair work on it prior to moving in. Since most of the downstairs carpet was badly worn I decided to make its replacement the very last task prior to moving in. I contacted two carpet companies to give quotes on the carpet; Soft Step eventually got the job because they could meet the tight schedule and had the kind of carpet I wanted at a good price. Bobby O'Neil of Soft Step Carpet came out with a van load of large carpet samples. We spent about an hour going through them in the condo to see how the different textures and colors would look. Bobby quickly made measurements and gave estimates of several different quality levels of carpet. We settled on a particular carpet, a price, and an installation date that was less than a week later on his promise that the carpet would arrive on time from the mill in Georgia (it did!). The carpet installers arrived on the appointed day and stripped out the old carpet and installed the new carpet, finishing up by late afternoon. HOWEVER, they were in such a hurry to finish that they were extremely sloppy and careless with the stretching tools; they left dozens of large black marks and streaks on the floor molding and even on the walls in every single room they worked in. In some spots the impacts from the tools were so heavy that they scuffed the fresh paint. This, despite me cautioning Bobby in advance that all the walls and trim had just been painted and so the paint was still soft! Needless to say, I was not happy. To make matters worse there was NO time to clean the marks and fix the paint damage because the very next morning after the carpet installation the movers brought in all the furniture. Bobby was apologetic and several days later he sent the installers over to clean up their mess. Unfortunately they could not get to more than about a quarter of the marks because by now the furniture and boxes were in the way and most of it could not be moved at this time. The painter is coming in to repair what he can reach but he, too, cannot get to all the damaged places. So I'm left with a condo that has dozens of ugly black marks and scuffs on the floor molding and the walls. I have had carpet replaced numerous times before in other places, and this is a result I've not had before. If I had it to do again, I would not even consider using Soft Step unless they get installers that have more respect for the customers' homes.

I was shown samples in my home and there was no pressure to make a discussion. The samples were large enough where you could lay them around and get the correct lighting and color. The carpet is an excellent quality.

I got a verbal estimate about a month before I was ready to do the floor. Nothing was in writing (my mistake). Called Jay a month later when I decided to go forward and the price had gone up $200. I decided to go forward anyway. Jay delivered sample flooring, but dropped it off at the wrong house (my neighbor). I got the floor picked out, and scheduling was easy. Jay gave me a price breakdown over the phone and said he'd come with a written estimate on the day of install. Also, he has a guy that works for him that does install, so I expected Jay and one worker. On the day of installation, 3 guys showed up that I never met before; no Jay. I let them proceed anyway. Work was good, with 2 exceptions: First, they left floor prep on my driveway and front stoop. Its a substance that sets up like concrete and I didn't know how to get it off. When I called Jay, he didn't apologize or offer to have someone clean it up; he just launched into an explaination of how hard it is to keep that substance from making a mess and how I can clean it up myself. Exception #2: The workers removed a door stop and didn't replace it. I didn't realize this until after talking to Jay about the floor prep mess, and given his lack of help there, decided not to call back.

It went great. The workers were professional and polite. The floor looks great. Everything was done on time. Jay also provided quality laminate flooring at a great price. I no longer have a reason to do this kind of work on my own.
