Robert A Barrett Concrete

I checked Angie's List for A rated contractors. Received immediate phone call from Robert and was sent written bid with in 5 days. Then waited for about 4 weeks for the job to begin. Robert communicated to us via phone as to when the job would begin (weather was a factor). The job took 2 days to complete. Excellent job - looks great. Very satisfied with the job.

I hired Robert in Fall of 2014 after getting quotes from 3 different contractors. Robert's quote was the lowest in total price and by far the most detailed. His quote had all of the measurements we discussed (to the inch), mix design, and type of finish included. He even wrote up two quotes in case I wanted to go with an exposed aggregate finish (I stuck with broom finish since it was less expensive). After going to see a few of his references, I decided to hire with Robert. Being such a costly home improvement, I was at first a bit nervous. Robert was a great communicator, answered all my questions, and always put my concerns to ease. He returned my phone calls promptly and was very proactive about letting me know when work was going to be performed ahead of time. After setting their forms I decided to make one small change which Robert included at no additional cost. His entire crew was very detail oriented and paid close attention to the way everything looked while pouring and finishing the driveway. The final product looks great. I plan to apply the salt guard deep penetrating sealant that I purchased for Robert in the coming weeks. For any concrete work I have done in the future I will definitely be using Robert Barrett Concrete.

Fairly well.. The only issue was that he did not have a demolition hammer to remove the old sidewalks. They did it by hand with large breaker bars. This is very time consuming. Anyone in this type of business should have all the proper equipment. I am not sure the concrete was sealed properly as it is now starting to pit.

We hired Robert after getting four quotes from Angie's list. His quote was significantly lower. He also was the only one to answer his phone rather than call back after I left messages, this is notable for me. I felt compelled to write this because the above is just good business but the fact he is a true professional and gentleman is rare. He communicated with me often and he was punctual. His crew was also polite and tidy. Overall it was a great experience and we are now considering other projects now that we know someone we trust to do awesome work. I cannot recommend him strongly enough.

They ran into some major structural issues with the brick on our house sitting on the concrete instead of being attached to the house. They put a tremendous amount of time and energy into coming up with a solution to the problem that would provide us with the results that we were wanting. Robert, his son, and his crew could not have been nicer. We are so greatful for the care and expertise that went into making our home look amazing!!! These guys really know their stuff and were so reasonably priced compared to others. In fact Robert encouraged me to get other quotes and compare.

Wonderful experience. If I could rate Bob and his team AAA I would. For what it's worth my wife and I are not necessarily the easiest people to please. Bob was on-site each day and worked side by side with his team. Bob talked us through each step and offered us opportunities to modify our original plan. Bob provided references in addition to the Angies List write ups. We selected Bob from 2 other competitive quotes and in person interviews. Without a doubt we will use Bob again when we want to replace our front porch and walkway. His crew was very polite, professional, knowledgable, and kept the job-site as clean as possible during the project. On the last day all debris was cleaned up and hauled away. No left overs !! Again, a very good experience and our new patio is attracting a lot of attention from our neighbors.

The provider was on time and very responsive to our requests. We simply did not go ahead with the project.

We just didn't expect the cost to be so high (I should note that we are new to this :) ) - the size of the patio was going to be less than 300 square feet, but our lawn is sloped so there had to be adjustments in consideration of that fact. Then the walls added to the project substantially, but I didn't want to do it without some sort of wall (we had to have some though due to the slope). **I should note that I didn't get any other quotes as I was happy with Robert so I don't know what the other bids would have been.** Right now, the project is on hold for us. It really would have been nice to sit out there this summer as we live on a cul-de-sac and have young children, but alas, maybe the paver patio and us are not meant to be.

Didn't go at all because I was never able to contact them as their provided contact info is not correct. Furthermore, I was unable to find a website for this contractor. I don't see how a legitimate business can even function without a website.

What a great crew and a great driveway. Bob (Owner) came out very quickly to give us an estimate of the cost for excavating and pouring our driveway. He explained what they would do and listened to what we were wanting to do. His cost was a few thousand less then a couple of other competitors, but the workmanship is superior. We were trying to get the driveway poured before our son's graduation party and Bob stated that they should be able to do it depending on the weather. They were out the next week on Monday after we signed the paperwork to start excavation. Each night they had the drive cleaned up and things neatly stacked. No mess to be found. They worked for 2 days excavating and setting forms. Due to rain in the forecast we had to hold off pouring concrete until the next Monday, but they finished in 3 days. 7 days later our drive is a bright white and we are ready for graduation. Thanks to Bob and his crew for a superior job. Well done.

We recently moved from Columbus to Cardington, Oh about 35 miles north of Columbus. We've sometimes found it difficult to locate companies based in other cities that are willing to travel to our location to perform work or even provide an estimate. We contacted several concrete companies to obtain estimates for a 14' x 16' poured patio and a concrete pad for a precast step. Robert was one of only three individuals to return our call. While we did not ultimately select Robert Barrett to complete our work, it was only because we decided to provide the business to a local company. If it were not for decidingto give the business to a local company, we would have selected Robert Barrett for the following reasons: - First for being willing to drive from Plain City to speak with us and provide and estimate. - Providing an estimate quickly. - Competitive pricing. The estimate from Robert was directly in line with the estimate of the local company we selected. - Openness. Robert was forthcoming with the extra cost that could be involved with locating local material suppliers. - Professionalism. Robert considered all the items that would be important for us as homeowners, such as how to limit any impacts to our yard, the best location for the removed soil, using gravel that matched the size in our driveway so any extra could be spread out without being noticed and what type of reinforcement we should consider if we might ever want to place a hot tub on the patio.

Stayed on target with work, punctual. Kept me informed daily of progress and was respectful of how we would be navigating in and out of the home as the work impacted all entryways. The finished walkways and decks are impressive and really sharpened my 1920 Farmhouse curb appeal. Robert Barrett and his son Shawn are wonderful to work with: honest and dependable.

The first estimator said they could do it in one day. Mr. Barrett said absolutely not. He and his son used a crew of four other people. These were people whom they knew and had worked with for years. That is what he does. He is insured also. He also said that he prefers to do one-story homes, if possible, for there is more safety for his people. I recommend him highly. He has also, over the years, become a friend and bailed us out on "little stuff" more than once.

It was amazing. He poured very white concrete. This job was completed a year ago and the driveway is still white. After people have driven on it, it is still white and has maintained it's color. It absolutely looks great and it looks like it was poured yesterday.

He is as honest as the day is long, he does beautiful work. He passes his discounts on to his customers. I appreciate that he does allow new member into your home right away.

I got quotes from others. Robert Barrett's quote was in the lower of quotes received and he still used above average cement strength. His workers seem somewhat perfectionists which I liked. The job was not done in haste.

He came over. Had us pick out what stone we wanted and gave us a price. Barrett has been working for us for at least five years and has become a friend. He always is fair and honest. He will tell us whether something needs to be done or not. We are not young. He calls when there have been weather problems to make sure we are allright. When we had the ice storm and power was out for five days, he found us the last generator in Plain City and probably saved our pipes from freezing. Then we ran out of firewood and he found us some. He is a very special man and a very good and honest man.

Robert visited our home, made valuable suggestions, and provided an estimate based on the professional drawing we provided. He provided a list/contact numbers for past and similar jobs. After seeing the work in person and feeling comfortable with Robert's professionalism and the detailed contract provided, we were confident choosing his team over others we'd considered. From day one, we couldn't have been more pleased. The team was always punctual, extremely hard working, and tidy. Robert touched base at the end of each day to provide an update. The entire team was friendly and always entertained our questions (as well as those of our curious and protective neighbors). The skills of this team and the importance they place on excellence to the last detail are outstanding. The work was done in heat that, at times, was in excess of 100 degrees. We appreciated that Robert treated his team respectfully and watched out for their well being. We believe that speaks volumes about the character of this company. And, we're delighted with the work!

Overall, this was a very positive experience. Robert was timely with estimates and the work performed. He was very good about communicating whenever there was a delay due to external conditions (weather) and any decision points that needed to be made regarding the work to be done. The actual work performed was also top notch.

Everything went as expected, the quality of the work was outstanding and the employees were professional. We are very happy with the final product. The only real issue we had was that the start date of our project was delayed due to another job and we were not informed until I called on the day that the crew was scheduled to arrive. Other than that, we were very happy with the work.

Mr. Barrett gave us the lowest estimate of the 3 people we called from Angie's List. He always showed up when he said he would be here. He and his crew were polite and professional and punctual. They moved my son's very heavy basketball apparatus and helped move some of my plants without complaint. They got to work and had the whole job done in 5 days (1 day rain delay). They cleaned up after every day of work, including removing cigarette butts from the yard. Lots of traffic goes by our house and we have been amazed at the number of people who have complimented the look of our new driveway.

I had Robert out to do an estimate and consultation on a driveway we have that is falling apart. We ended up getting the builder to do the repairs; otherwise I would have gone with Robert. He was extremely knowledgeable and credible

Overall the experience was excellent. We had some changes made after the contract was written, he was very willing to make those changes every time.

From quote to job completion Barrett Concrete was honest, reliable and knowledgeable. Their price was very competitive. When our driveway was widened, they ran into some drainage pipe which needed to be replaced, so Barrett's men did that for a nominal charge. They always show up and the quality of their work is outstanding. We love our new driveway! We recommend Robert Barrett!

My house was built in the 50's and added onto. Simplified version is when doing the work if they ran out of material they did not bother getting more, just finished it with other things. The cement patio and walk along back and side of house was cracked and leaning into the house. The grade of the yard goes into the house, so all the water flowed onto concrete, through cracks and into the basement. In the basement crawl space, part of the outside back wall was finished (partially) with brick and 1" x 4" wood to hold it in (original construction people must have run out of block). In another spot between old house and new basement the dirt was undermining the original cement slab (they did not backfill before building new wall for basement). Knowing that my big problem and thing I needed fix was to get the water to drain away from (not into basement) I started calling contractors. After talking with allot of contractors on phone and about 10 in person I got ROBERT A BARRETT over to estimate. Before him there was only one that I was even considering because no one was addressing all my problem (they seemed to be just bidding a job not finding a solution that would work). Bob came on time to bid. He listened to my problems and was the first one to come up with solutions that worked (and he knew why they would work). On a side note, I had my brother, a construction manager here for this estimate and he was very impressed with Bob's knowledge. Bob explained what he was thinking and dropped of an estimate within 2 days. His price was great. I say great because he was the only one that was actually going to fix my problem correctly. I was placed on their schedule and given a time estimate when they would start. They came as scheduled and where always on time. The entire crew was courteous, kind, caring, knowledgeable and thoughtful about what they where doing. They removed old concrete walks and patio. They dug a big hole and put in a foundation and block into the crawl space wall that was bad. They got into the area that had undermining (no easy task) and filled it to prevent undermining under the old slab. As the worked the demolition they cleaned up at the end of the day and made everything safe to live in. They then poured an exposed Aggregate patio and walk. I was initially going for just re-doing what was there because I was overwhelmed with it all. Bob helped me choose more that just concrete replacement. We changed the shape, added exposed Aggregate and finished it with a great sealant. I will recommend ROBERT A BARRETT to everyone. If you have a problem you will breath a sigh of relief when he is done. If you just want a beautiful cement job he will do it and do it right.
