Pro Deck

We cannot say enough good things about Pro Deck! Their bid was very comparable to the other quotes we had received, but we were impressed with the owner's (Frank) knowledge and direct business manner over the other companies. He really knows his stuff, and we appreciated all of the advice concerning size, layout, and suggested products to use. We also liked the fact that he is locally-based and has been building decks and porches in the Columbus area most of his life. At Frank's suggestion we toured a similar porch that he had built to the one we were considering. It was really helpful to talk with the homeowner and also be able to visualize the space and see what the finished product would look like. Our porch actually turned out better than imagined--the workmanship is topnotch, almost seamless. We were so impressed that we referred them to my husband's parents who needed their deck rebuilt. They are extremely happy with with the results, as well. The only negative for us was the weather. It rained almost daily for weeks, delaying our start date and only allowing for half-days of work to be completed. This is no fault of Pro Deck's, of course, just the reality of dealing with outdoor construction.

We had trouble with angled cuts after several months and Pro Deck replaced all the angled cuts in April of 2012. One screw came loose in May of 2015 and Pro Deck came out to fix the loose screw. Pro Deck responded to any concern that we had. I was very pleased that they came out 4 years after the deck was installed and repaired the loose screw. I really appreciate that calls are returned and the company follows up to satisfy their customers.

The 12' by 12' wood deck on our Clintonville home is old and dilapidated, and we planned to replace it. After examining it, Frank gave us a detailed estimate -- an estimate lower than other top-rated Angie's List contractors we had talked to. He answered all my questions, and was courteous and professional throughout. But what impressed me most was that he then explained the kind of wood and construction that had been used in our old deck, which were excellent, and said that although he would be happy to build a new deck for us, we might want to consider having a good handyman repair the old deck and paint it with a special deck paint Frank described. He said this would cost us perhaps $500 instead of $5000, and the old deck would look fine and would "outlast all of us." Thank you, Frank, for this example of forthright honesty and terrific customer service. We're very grateful!

We were extremely happy with the informational meeting, scheduling, and installation. Price was what we anticipated as well. We remain 15 months later happy with our decision and choice.

We had to wait all summer for our turn, but the wait was well worth it. Once they got started the job went really fast. When I first saw our deck all I could say was 'its really big" and Frank told me it was going to be a good size. But, I was so worried if I went smaller. I would wish I went a little bigger. So I'm excited for next year. I think my dogs think it was built for them, they definitely love it, they think their king of the hill. Thanks Frank, Kathy and the Crew for such a nice job.

I had a total of four quotes prepared to renew/repair my existing deck. Pro Deck was neither high nor low but I was impressed with Frank Iafolla?s comments and proposal. He was flexible (within limits) on what he would and would not do. And, his years of service, knowledge and an extensive list of referrals led me to select Pro Deck for the job. We shook hands in May but it wasn?t until September that the project began. Frank had a large backlog and weather and my schedule were factors for the delay as well. His crew (Jeff & Todd) was terrific. They were knowledgeable, professional and continuously willing to make minor modifications as well as add ideas to make the deck better. I would highly recommend Pro Deck to anyone that is considering building a new or repairing an existing deck.

Pro-Deck kept their word...13 years later! They built our deck in 2001 and said it came with a lifetime structural warranty. Although we did a good job keeping up with the maintenance, some boards started to exhibit splinters (no structural damage). We called another company to stain our deck and they quoted a price of $45/board to replace the worn out boards. We decided to call Pro Deck to see if they would provide us an estimate, just to make sure we were receiving a fair quote. Our call was promptly returned and they (Frank) came out on a date that fit our schedule. I showed him the boards that we wanted to replace and he agreed to do so ...at no charge!! His crew came out to the house two days later and replaced most of the boards, but informed me they needed to come back the next day because they were unhappy with the boards they picked up at the lumber yard and wanted to get better ones. The gentleman said "If I wouldn't want to install these on my deck, I certainly am not going to install them on yours." Sure enough, they came back the following morning and replaced the remaining boards. Everything was done to our complete satisfaction!! Although the materials they used to build our deck are no longer used for the decks they build today, you will truly be hiring a "partner" if you choose to go with Pro Deck! We were extremely happy with the product we received back in 2001 and we are even happier with how they went over and above with us last week!! Thank you!!

When I called Pro Deck someone actually answered the phone (Kathy) which is always a good sign! I asked if we could get an estimate & she said she would have Frank call, and she said she would mail us some info & a referrals listing, which she did. (The referrals were 10 pages long!). Frank called that evening & said he had hurt his back & might not be able to get out for a week or so - but we talked briefly about what we were looking for. I didn't hear back after that, but called the office again & spoke to Kathy. She apologized profusely & Frank called moments later & said he would be out that night to provide our estimate. Frank arrived as promised, provided some input & ideas about what we were looking for, and drew up an estimate. He was very nice & straight forward. I appreciated his no-pressure style - and once he drew up the estimate, it was pretty much right on the money as far as our budget. That was awesome because we had received several other estimates that were $1,500 to $8,000 more than his - some of those for basic treated lumber. Pro Deck only uses Trex decking which made the estimate/choice easy - we only had to choose a color & railing style. (Later, we also got to choose the post cap style). The estimate also included EVERYTHING. Previous bidders would give us a price, then start adding on for permits, hand rails, skirting, synthetic decking (if original bid was plain treated lumber) etc. The Pro Deck estimate was for everything! All permits, demo of old deck, dumpster rentals/hauling/clean up, and all facets of new deck installation including hand rails, animal guard (mesh), skirting, trim, etc. The only extra charge was for some bonus electrical work they did with existing wiring for the old deck/detached garage (which they also did a fantastic job on). Demo started in early Feb - which is what they projected when we got the estimate in Nov. There wasn't a heads-up call before they arrived to do the demo which was surprising, but it was fine with us. Others might have liked to have had a warning, though. Demo was swift & they cleaned up everything very well. The job site guys (Jeff and ... I can't remember the other guy's name) were FANTASTIC. They were hard working, even in the poor weather conditions we still had in Feb. They were on time every day, worked hard and were very personable. Jeff was extremely knowledgeable and provided a lot of helpful input on minor design issues. Due to some weather delays, they even came on a Saturday once. Again with no warning, but we were fine with it - as we were just happy to see the dedication to the job. Even though Frank wasn't on-site every day, he knew every detail of what was going on at the job site, and frequently called to ask questions about our preferences on small things. Frank is very easy to reach; even if you get his voice mail, he calls back promptly - usually within an hour, but always same-day. Overall, Frank and the crew were awesome. Very responsive, hard working, easy to work with, and patient with our questions and requests. The ONLY bummer is they only take check/cash, no credit cards. We were hoping to use our Delta/American Express (for the Sky Miles) - but failed to inquire about payment methods during the estimate. Again, this was fine for us - but others may wish to have alternate payment methods in the contractor they choose.

He did a great job. They did an awesome job, the guys were really professional, and I needed it in a rush and they came through for me.

Wonderful experience. Very conscientious and professional company. Thorough, responsive communication throughout the job. The planning work with Pro Deck's owner, Frank, to design the new deck was great. Frank listened to my vision and put together a design that was perfect. The building phase went smoothly and quickly. The two craftsmen who built the deck did an excellent job. Love the new deck. I would absolutely use Pro Deck again and I highly recommend Pro Deck.

.From the initial meeting with Frank Iafolla, ProDeck founder, I felt that my project and I were in good hands. He understood what I was looking for and my price point. Due to the rainy summer, the start date for my deck re-build was pushed back but the ProDeck folks kept in touch and when I was given a start date, work was begun on that date. The tear-down of the old deck and removal of the old materials went smoothly. The construction of the new deck went without a hitch. I am so happy with my new deck and the job Frank and his ProDeck workers did, I would recommend them to anyone looking to build or re-build their deck. Even my neighbors commented on the quality job that was done. Way to go, Frank and ProDeck! You folks are ACES in my book!

Choose Pro Deck from Angie's List, called and left message. Call returned same day and appointment made for home visit to see project in mind. Frank (owner of company) arrived on time, saw what we wanted done, showed us product he recommended, we signed contract. Was told would put on list, but due to smaller size of our project he anticipated could fit in when waiting for a permit cropped up or another job finished early. Got a call a few weeks later the project could start in next day or two. Jeff (project head) and Todd arrived to measure and order materials. Materials arrived on day deconstruction took place. They removed and disposed of the old deck. The following work day construction took place. Since I'm retired and at home what I especially appreciated was how quietly they worked...no yelling, no radio. They worked steadily throughout the day and cleaned up the work site when they left that night. They returned the next day to deal with finishing touches. They were great and I would recommend Pro Deck, or have them for another project in a heartbeat.

They were on Angie’s List. We had several different deck people come out and give us ideas. The owner came out and he had the best plan so we went with him. He came out again the first day and got things started. They were here for 7 days and finished it off. It turned out better than what we thought it would be. It’s fine. It was kind of messy. They had to tear the old one out and they cleaned all that up. During the weekend they hauled it all off. We were very pleased with the whole thing. It seems like they had a huge list of people that were in our neighborhood. We had the opportunity to contact them and they were all pleased. He had a good price so we just went with him. He had done one for our daughter and for one of our son’s also. We knew that personally. They just did a really good job. They were respectful, neat and pleasant.

My old deck was it terrible condition with rotting support beams and I didn't like the layout. I initially talked to Frank in October to get a quote. He came out to the house, looked at the existing deck, and talked with me about what I wanted for a new deck. He sketched out a design and gave me a quote based on several options. He was up front about costs, including permits and a dumpster. His design was more interesting than the plain square I had in mind, and I liked how it worked in the space available. I knew I wanted plastic decking, and they offered several types from various manufacturers, including Trex and TimberTech. I spent a month or so considering options and getting quotes before I decided to go with Pro Deck. Frank came out to the house to finalize details and get the contract signed. We went with Trex for the deck surface. I knew we had problems with animals under the old deck, so he included skirting around the deck with buried metal mesh attached to prevent animals from digging underneath. At the time he had at least a 6-8 week backlog of work, so we were looking at January at the earliest for them to start. (Yes, they build in the winter!) He did say that could get pushed back depending on weather, and it ended up being February before they started. The entire project took about 3 weeks from tear-out of the old deck to final inspection on the new deck. Fortunately it was winter so having a construction site in the yard was not a problem. The sight of snow on the exposed beams of the half-finished deck was very strange, though. They assigned a 2-man crew that worked the whole project. They did a great job, and the deck looks fantastic.

They were professional, hard-working and the job was completed ahead of time. They went above and beyond. Again, they are truly professional , skilled Craftsmen and everything is cut perfectly and level.

I had a wonderful experience with Pro Deck. Frank Iafolla is very nice. He came out and gave me a free estimate with lots of details about the process and he answered all of my questions. He is not pushy and I never got that "salesman" feel from him. The estimate was great and much more reasonable than others I'd received. Frank kept in touch with me throughout the process and showed up to inspect the work as it progressed. The guys who built the deck (Jeff and Todd) are also very nice, and do great work. They too answered all my questions whenever I was out there nosing around as they worked. I am very, very happy with my deck! It is beautiful and maintenance free (I went with the Trex material)! I have nothing negative to say about Pro Deck at all. The customer service is excellent, the rates are excellent, and the work is excellent! I HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend them!

This is the second time we used Pro-Deck and we highly recommend them. From the design phase to the construction phase, everything is top notch. The workmanship is outstanding and Frank is very good at listening to what you want and designing a solution.

There was no work performed. I called and left and message explaining what I needed. Received a voice mail back from Kathy at Pro Deck, who indicated that Pro Deck did not perform the type of services I was looking for. However, she did recommend someone and gave me a name and number of someone they use for small jobs.

We did not choose Pro Deck due to price and time to get to the job. Another contractor came in a little lower but could get it done much sooner. We called for a quote and arranged a time to meet. I was pleasantly surprised he was on -time, listened to our needs and actually suggested we do not waste on money on synthetic handrails. They were still good on our old deck and they would last a long time when replaced. Pro Deck was the first to suggest this approach. He did the measurements, provided a drawing and detailed his quote all on the spot.

It went great! Frank, the owner, was easy to work with and has an enjoyable sense of humor. He made a lot of good suggestions and built exactly what we agreed to. He took care of all necessary permits, was very responsive to phone calls, and answered all questions. His crew was easy to work with and created a well built, very professional-looking addition to my home. They installed numerous electrical outlets, relocated the exterior spotlight, added a new porch light, moved the outside faucet and installed a ceiling fan. They also built stairs to the yard. All trash was hauled away, including the part of my old deck that they tore down to make room for the porch. On top of doing such a great job, Pro Deck was the lowest of four estimates. You can't beat them!

Every part of the experience was excellent, from quote and design, to install. Communication during the project was excellent. I knew when to expect the demo of the old deck to start, what to expect during build, and when to expect it to be complete. On first install pass, the wrong railing was installed. This was fixed to perfection. I would suggest ensuring that all agreed upon requirements and materials are fully documented and signed off on, just to avoid any incidents like this for your project. I'm a very satisfied customer and highly recommend Pro Deck.

It was just awesome, Frank drew it out for me and I was very impressed. They were polite, prompt and respectful. They were always on time.

Frank came to our house to design a deck and provide estimates for the available materials. Wood was the least expensive, followed by composite, followed by resin as the most expensive. We opted for the Trex composite material due to the low maintenance requirements and affordability compared to the resin. Frank was able to work with us and find a deck design that used the material we selected and stay within our budget. He was professional from the start and we really enjoyed working with him. He had several weeks of work queued up, but since it was late fall we didn't really care as long as we had it done by spring. His crews work nearly year round so he estimated a November or December start date. They began work in early December and completed it in roughly a week. The crew was exceptionally professional and friendly beyond our expectations. The came on time on the days they said they would be there. They maintained a reasonably clean work area and when the job was done they hauled away all the trash and left the area as it was prior to the work. They sometimes had to work in some nasty weather but they never complained or slowed down. We are thrilled with the deck itself - the quality of workmanship and the design that Frank came up with are exceptional. He delivered exactly what was promised in the time frame promised, and we weren't required to pay until the deck was complete and we were satisfied (which we were - there were no complaints that had to be rectified since they did it right the first time). I would definitely use this company again on our future homes for our decking needs. There is a reason they are one of the top rated companies for decks on Angie's List - they do consistently great work in a manner which is pleasing to the customer.

We now have an amazing front porch that is sturdy well built and one we enjoy relaxing on. Excellent experience and craftsmanship.

2 man crew completed job in 10 days. Removed all debris at end of job. Worked with electrical contractor to do wiring for hot tub. Was held up a day waiting on electric rough in inspection. Was very flexible to last minute change requests (as job was being done) by my wife. This was completed 16 months ago and Frank has stood behind his product since. Guys came out twice at no cost to do some adjustments and even added an access door to under the deck. I was recently concerned about staining on the deck. At initial appointment, Frank explained the difference between composte and resin and how resin would be better product (more expensive) when backed up to woods. I went with composite. He explained an annual maintenance would have to be done with composite. When I followed the maintenance suggestions from the Trex packet, the resullts were unsatisfactory. I emailed Frank, he pointed me in the right direction on how to clean. I recently used the restorer and protector and the results were great. We have really enjoyed our deck,.
