I am a real estate Broker with over 30 yrs. in the real estate business, and have seen from the worst to the best in construction quality. Originally, I wanted to do a complete renovation of my 35 yr. old kitchen. After getting the same old boring design (or no new design at all) from several other contractors, I met Danielle Oen (Owner of Oen's Kitchen & Barth) at a local Home Show. She was energetic and genuinely interested in my desire to re-design my kitchen, something I found lacking in the other contractors. They came to my home and recommended changes in how my kitchen was arranged so that it would be not only more functional, but more asthetically pleasing. They changed lighting, plumbing, added electrical outlets, changed placement of appliances, enlarged the kitchen space and removed a wall. They showed me cabinet options which included pull-out spice cabinets, mixer cabinets, soft-close doors/drawers, and various stains. I looked at extra large/deep sinks, beautiful faucets, options in counterrops/backsplashes, flooring, heated flooring, and cabinet trim/crown molding, just to name a few! I was finally seeing something being designed just for me! They guided me through all of the choices with their design expertise, keeping in mind my desired style and use needs. They were very patient when I had a specific design in mind for an item, and helped me look EVERYWHERE until we found just what I had envisioned. Their crew was professional, considerate of our home, and a lot of fun to work with. They made a major renovation easy to live with, and the end result was beyond my expectations! There isn't a day that goes by that I don't walk into my kitchen and appreciate how beautiful it is. I was so happy with my new kitchen, that I had them continue with replacing the interior trim package in my home to match the new kitchen woods. Two years later, I hired them again to renovate the master bedroom bath, which also turned out fantastic! The kitchen was done in 2010, the trim in 2011, and the bath in 2013 During the final stages of our remodeling, we experienced an unexpected death in the family which meant a lot ofunexpected company in our home at a most inconvenient time to be without one of our bathrooms. Ralph and Danielle (owenrs of Oens Kitchen & Bath) not only expedited the finishing of the bath so that it could be used, but called and asked how many people were at my home. I wondered why they wanted to know that, but within the hour, a local restaurant delivered enough food for all of our company, as well as flowers for our home, compiments of Oen's Kitchen and Bath. What a nice thing to do, and it was so very much appreciated! This is an exceptional company, run by people that really care about you and your family. They are not the most inexpensive, but when remodeling, you get what you pay for. If you want a beautiful kitchen or bath, and you wnat the job done right by exceptional people that care, you won't be disappointed.

Yikes. It took 4 months to complete this project. It was apparent that the company scheduled far more work/jobs than they were able to complete on a timely fashion. When the wood for the flooring was delivered (first step in the process), we were told they would come back in 5-7 days to start laying the floor. It was over two weeks before this was started. The floors turned out beautiful, but when it came to "finishing" where the wood floors met in doorways (with carpet), they left it undone. And, after the fact, informed us that we had to hire someone to finish off the doorways. After much discussion and angst, they agreed to hire someone to fix it. This was not completed until the very end of the project. The lower cabinets and counter tops were removed (including the kitchen sink). We were left without a sink for about 8 weeks, because there were delays on the cabinets being ready and/or they had other commitments that left everything undone and unusable for weeks. While the cabinets were being manufactured we traveled 90 minutes to Toledo (upon Oen's highest recommendation) to select and order our granite. When it came time to prepare for the granite, Oen informed us that the granite company had "lost" or selected pieces of granite. We had to make another 90 minute trip to Toledo to select yet another two pieces. This delayed getting our kitchen operating and functional by another 4 weeks. Oen did agree to take a little off the cost of our final bill for this inconvenience. The can lights were not centered above the sink. We had to point this out and ask them to make that change, and they did. Finally, all the cabinets, granite and sink were installed. Unfortunately, the installation of the new spout for our water purification system still gurgles after use. They tried t fix this but was unsuccessful. We will follow up with the manufacturer on this detail. Then the backsplash tiles were installed. The workmanship was less than satisfactory. Excessive amounts of grout were left around the specialty tiles and they were uneven (some pushed in further than others). We had to call them back to fix this too. They were reluctant and tried to claim that it was the "type" of tile that gave that appearance. But they did come out and fix the problem and now it looks great. The wood doors were installed without any problem. Overall, our experience was frustrating and we didn't feel like they really cared about "customer satisfaction" or "good service". However, after many phone calls, complaints and repairs to initial installation, the cabinets, flooring, doors, granite and tile are all beautiful. We are very satisfied with how everything finally turned out. It was just a grueling experience to get to that point! I will not use this company again and will not refer them to anyone who wants their work completed in a timely and complete fashion.
