Overall we have been VERY satisfied with the services provided by Gehring and Burtchin as evidenced by our continued use of the company. During the very first project we had to move out of the home as it was a total gutting of the interior including removal and replacement of bathrooms. They completed the project in the time frame they had estimated allowing us to move back in as planned. It was like moving into a just built home.They were just as willing to work on our other projects regardless of the size. I was especially impressed with the project to redo the vinyl floors with ceramic tile in 2008 as a surprise for my wife while she was out of town for a week. I called them with very short notice on a whim to have this done while she was gone and they were able to fit this project into their schedule and have it installed and totally cleaned up before she returned from her trip, (7 days) and she was completely surprised and satisfied with the finished product.The window and doors at the lake house had Mr. Gerhing concerned as the water table is high and the house tends to settle a bit over time. There were 14 side by side windows on a front porch area and the concern was that over time they might become inoperable as the property continues to settle. That project was 4 years ago and all windows and doors work and fit. open and close just as well as they did the day the project was completed.When all the projects were completed they cleaned up and removed any mess they had madeI certainly recommend Gehring and Burtchin for any project you might have, from building a new home, to remodeling the one you have today.

It didn't go at all. They came and gave me an estimate for brick repair and siding installation but they never showed up. After 5 phone calls leaving voice mail, I finally got a call back after I had told their secretary that I was really getting upset. Their foreman/estimator finally called. Told him I was upset and that if they didn't want the job to tell me and I would find some one else. I was told they did want to do the job and that they would be there to do it in about 3 weeks. That was either late Sept or early Oct, 2011. They never showed.

Demo started July 18, 2008 and when we came home from vacation 1 week later, everthing looked the same. It was about 2 or 3 weeks before any regular work was done. He did bill me for 4 men working a 40 work week during that period. After 4 1/2 months, bathroom still not done, he walked off the job and filed a mechanics lien. I purchased a glass block wall that leans. He admits that it was improperly installed, but refuses to fix the problem. His men caused thousands of dollars of damage, during the process. He let eveyone know the code to my garage door, so peopple were coming and going at will. As a result, we are missing $8000.00 in cash and many other items from our home. He refused arbitration and insisted we pay the reamining amount of $17,000.00, or he was demanding a jury trial with jury view. We tried to offer a settlement but he refused. We would have lost the jury trial, because the bathroom had been mostly finished by other people, so it did not look remotely close to what it looked like when he walked off the job. He charged me for things he did not do, materials he would have used if he had finished the job and overbilled for labor. Certainly with 167 hours in just his contractor labor, the bathroom could have been done. This does not include labor charged by electrician, tiler, or plumber. I have his own documents proving all of this, plus estimates to repair the damage and picture of the disaster.
