On August 18, 2011, I called Fritchie Asphalt and Paving to ask about getting an estimate for some work on our asphalt driveway. The woman I spoke with told me that Mike would call me the following day to set up a time to come to the house and work up a price. Mike called the following Monday, August 22, 2011. He asked if it would be ok if he stopped out even if no one were home. I told him no problem with doing that and gave him some additional information about the driveway. We ended the call with him telling me that he would be at my house sometime on Tuesday August 23rd. On August 30, 2011, I still had not heard anything from anyone at Fritchie Asphalt and Paving so I called and told the woman who answered the phone that I was following up on an estimate that Mike was supposed to have been working on. She placed me on hold and then came back, chuckled, and told me that Mike had been really busy and he'd try to get out sometime this week.I called back a little later and told the woman who answered the phone to just cancel the whole thing. She asked me why. I explained to her that I was told Mike was coming out a week ago, and not only did he not show up, he didn't call or anything. I was the one who followed up. And now we had no idea when Mike was coming out to do the estimate, all I was told is that he would "try" to come out this week.The woman told me that they were just really, really, busy and that's why he never came out. Mike is the one who told us when he was coming out. I didn't request that date. He could have told me on the phone that he was back logged and that it would be a couple of weeks. he could have at least called when he realized he couldn't come out the week he said he would come. If I had not followed up, we probably would have never heard from him again.If this is the way Fritchie Asphalt and Paving does business before they even get the job, I can only imagine how horrible the rest of the service would be. I've contacted another asphalt company in our area. I hope they are better with their customer service.I am surprised with companies complaining about how bad the economy is and how business is bad, that Fritchies Asphalt can throw away potential customers. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Obviously my business was not important to them, I can only imagine they don't feel that a quality job is important either.
