Don Snider Roofing, Insulation, Siding, & Gutters

Went well - repair holding well so far (18 months later). Only irritants were lack of responsiveness to initial call, not providing a schedule date (the winter emergency rush may have had something to do with it) and workers showed up without prior notification, in an unmarked vehicle and started working without first knocking on the door or otherwise informing us; they were also not 'professional' in looks/dress.

Don Snider was hired by my relocation company to assess the roof, chimney and fireplace. Don clearly outlined the issues found with the roof, chimney and fireplace and provided me with quotes for the repairs on all 3. While I didn't select Don Snider Roofing for the roof itself, I did contact Don Snider to repair the chimney and fireplace. He selected the repair option that would meet my needs at a reasonable cost and performed the work on time. His office was also very helpful in communication about quotes, contractor arrival timing and payment. Overall a very good, professionally run company.

Within a day or two of my acceptance of the bid, they were out repairing the roof. Work was completed in one day and for a very good price.

Snider Roofing scheduled the work soon after their proposal was accepted, arrived on time, diligently worked until the job was done, and did a good job cleaning the site.

The job was done completely and was perfect in every regard. When asked, the technician estimated the roof would need to be replaced in two or three years. He could have said "right now," but obviously gave an honest assessment.

Don Snider's was quite difficult to work with--their work needed to be done over several times because of poor workmanship. When after two times the window framing was not done correctly; Don Snider himself came out to take a look. He was unpleasant when I pressed him for when the third team would come to do the work and stated I will have my guy who is an expert come to do this job. Really, why did it take several attempts with poorly done jobs before he sent his "expert". The attitude at Don Snider's was not one of customer service. Every thing we had done had to be done over at least once including the billing. Not someone I could in good conscience recommend.

Professional service from start to finish, Once bid was accepted, work was completed within 3 days.Roof looks great; cleanup was through.

Called company late last week/early this week to have them repair soffit that had been pushed up (looks like an animal is trying to get in). They said someone would be out yesterday (1/22/15) or today (1/23/15). About 1pm today (1/23), I hadn't received a phone call so I called them to find out what was going on. The person (Mrs. Snider) who answered the phone said I wasn't on their daily board and had no record of me calling to schedule service. I explained the situation, how it was scheduled for one of two days, and I would like the service completed. She said she would find her workers and see where they were. She called back about an hour later to say they were finishing a job and then would head to complete the work. After that I never received another phone call from them. They never showed up either. I tried calling back about 5pm and no one picked up the phone. I used this company for new gutters a few months ago, and they did a great job. My parents had them do a ton of work this past summer too which turned out fantastic. That's why I called them again. I am truly disappointed in their service. With needing a new roof this year, it is hard for me to say I'd use them again in the future. Customer care is lacking.

so far it keeps raining....but they have come out when they say they are and repaired the kitchen window gutter that was so bad it made it rain into my window,,,i had 4 gutter people in the last 6 yrs try to fix it and nothing worked..dons son did a temporary fix and it stopped....until it stops raining and they can do the full repair,,the patching on the roof looks great....the office keeps calling and contacting me to apologize because of the rain....I understand and im glad they wont work in the rain .....im very happy with this service ,

They did a good job. There was one leak and they came back to fix it. The crew was hardworking. They stayed working on it even after dark.

First I want to say that a lot of research went into the roofer selection process (I had 6 bids). My main criteria was length of time in business in the local area, the quality and detail of the written proposal, the apparent knowledge of the company representative/owner, and price/value equation. My main concerns were: 1) that the new roof would not leak (duh, but you'd be surprised at the stories I read about during my research), and 2) the roofer would cover the material and labor cost if the roof leaked within the warrantied period, 3) the new roof would have the vibrant color. high contrast, 3D appearance of upscale contemporary homes. Don delivered on #1. The roof has not leaked after several rain showers and severe thunderstorms. Don also provided a 7 year warranty on labor, which combined with the material manufacturers warranty, would cover #2. The real problem was with #3. After I told Don that I wanted vibrant, high contrast dimensional shingles like some of my neighbors, he did not recommend that I upgrade from Owens Corning Oakridge, to the bolder colored, higher contrast Duration or True Definition shingle. i think a professional roofer should be aware of this difference and make the appropriate recommendation. Of the 2 other roofers that recommended Owens Corning shingles, one recommended the Duration shingle, and the other one recommended the Oakridge. I thought I was getting the right shingle based on 2 out of 3 roofers recommending Oakridge. Another problem was reuse of the old counter flashing (which is standard for Don unless told otherwise), and the arbitrary painting of the flashing a glossy black color, which did not match anything on the house except the 2 valleys. The counter flashing looked absolutely terrible. To my wife and I, It looked much worse than it looked on the old roof. In our opinion, no reputable roofer would have left a job in that condition. The terrible appearance was probably due to a combination of the poor paint job, and the damage to the flashing during removal and reattachment. Finally, the edges of shingles that had to be custom trimmed to fit the roof contour looked ragged and unfinished. If we had not complained, they may have left the job in that condition. After contemplating a couple of options, we decided to replace all of the old flashing with new flashing that closely matched the color of the shingles, and to use colored caulking that matched the flashing color. The raggedly trimmed shingles were also replaced. After these problems were fixed I was generally satisfied with the roof, although it did not pop like I wanted. I also recently noticed that 2 metal strips were connected together to seal the valley on the side of the roof opposite the garage (the side that I don't see unless I go out of my way to see the whole house from the street rather than just pull into my driveway), I don't like the seam that is visible between the 2 connecting strips. The valley on the garage side is sealed with a longer single strip which is a much cleaner look. I'll contact Don to see how this can be resolved. Bottom line, if you are picky, want a high-end, designer roof, don't have time to become a roofing expert (takes years by the way), and price is no object, go with a reputable roofer that recommends replacing EVERYTHING with the BEST material. That's not what Don is about. However, if you know EXACTLY what you want or meets your needs, then I believe Don can build your designer roof and maybe save you a little money. If you want a basic, no frills roof at a decent price, and are not too picky, Don is the roofer for you.

Overall it was good. He indicated he would have to order the shingles and I hoped he would have called before he showed up, but his crew showed up unexpected, which was okay with me, I was just surprised. He was able to locate the same brand and style of shingle and color. He did a good job cleaning up.

We have hired them for several years. When they do work and it doesn't solve the problem, which has happened several times, they will come back out and work on it until it's fixed. If it's nothing new that they've discovered, then there are no additional costs.

Excellent-showed up on time and did excellent job of clean up. Will use again!

Don Snider Roofing did a GREAT job. The roofer showed up on time, took the shingles I provided, and repaired all the missing shingles. He also checked the remainder of my roof and cleaned the gutters as he got on and off the roof. The work was done in a competent and timely manner. From the initial phone call to the completion of this job I was completely satisfied with the performance of Don Snider Roofing.

The job went well.. Clean-up was good before they left. Price was very good. Snider stands behind his work.

Whoever did the gutters on our house before we bought it didn't know what they were doing. The gutters on our house were a patchwork of junk. They were the wrong size for the house, piecemealed together in places, not secured to the house properly, and allowed water to cascade down the back of our house. This winter was especially hard and we had icicles all the way to the ground. We would also get water in the basement where the gutters would leak. I called Don Snider and they were very quick to call me back and come out for an estimate. They beat the other companies I called and included new downspouts in the price (whereas other companies wanted to use the old ones). They came out and completed the work within 2 days of us accepting the bid (other companies said they were 2-3 weeks out!! The guys were very professional, courteous, and let my sons watch as they worked on the house. They completed the job in a few hours and said I could pay them or the office would follow up with me. Later the same day it poured and the gutters did what they were supposed to do! No water in the basement and no leaks! A new roof and insulation are next and we will be calling Don for the job!

They by far had the best price on a 30 year roof. They were prompt, and did an excellent job. Clean up was good. Everyone was friendly and hard working. They replaced the roof on my previous home too, and we had an equally good experience with that transaction.
