Mr. Snider came out and gave me a reasonable estimate and in the end it came out exact. Despite the Spring rain that seemed to go on forever, the crew came every day that was possible to work. Everyone on the crew was very professional and the work on the job is fantastic and high quality. It is exactly what and how I asked for it to be done and the quality of the workmanship is great. They cleaned up and took away the old siding and remaining debris. Communication with the office was excellent. I am very pleased with the outcome. The color on the siding was an excellent match as well. Would definitely recommend the crew who worked on this job (Stan & Rich and someone else ).
Description of Work: Take off siding on rear of house. Apply fanfold insulation and new siding. Some flashing on roof of screen house to correct leak.

To Don Snider's credit, I have been billed for and paid only for the initial $290 in repairs. I'm certain that they were as frustrated as I in dealing with the issue, as I know it cost them time and money to send somebody out on four different occasions. Likewise, to the company's credit, they were very responsive and professional every time I called, sending out a repairman that same day or soon thereafter. I do appreciate their vigilance in trying to address the issue and understand that water can travel in strange ways. I would be lying, however, if I didn't say that I wasn't disappointed that it took six weeks to finally fix the problem (especially since it originated directly over the spot where it was leaking). I am also a little disappointed that nobody followed up after this last visit and fix. Overall, though, I'm satisfied that the issue has been resolved.
Description of Work: I called Don Snider on March 14, 2011, to repair a leak in my dining room. Don conducted an inspection of the roof and diagnosed the problem as cracked plumbing stack boots. I agreed to the estimate of $290 and Tim came out a couple days later to complete the job. Unfortunately, this did not solve the problem and I contacted the company to let them know. They responded by sending out Shawn from their company to take a look. Shawn again inspected the roof and this time diagnosed the problem as incorrect flashing and siding installation between the garage and house. Unfortunately, this repair failed to address the problem. In the meantime, a new leak appeared in my kitchen, directly beneath the original boot stack repair. I again called the office to inform them that Shaw's fix had not addressed the problem and that I had a new issue. They again dispatched Shawn to investigate. This time, he went up in the attic to see if he could identify the problem (something I might have expected from the get go). After a thorough investigation, Shawn reported that I had an old heating vent stack that appeared to be leaking, which might be the source of the kitchen leak. Admittedly, Shawn was perplexed by the continued dining room leak, but suggested that it might be attributed to the old heating stack. He removed the unused stack and covered over and shingled the hole. Unfortunately, this fix did not solve the problem. Now six weeks after the initial call and repairs, I called again to have somebody take a look. I informed the company of the time I would be home and when I would need to leave. Forty-five minutes before I needed to leave, I contacted the company to see if anybody was coming out. The woman who answered the phone tried contacting both Don and Shawn, but could reach neither. She informed me that she would call to let me know what was happening. Nobody came or called before I left the house, but when I returned I could see that somebody had come out and replaced the shingles DIRECTLY OVER THE DINING ROOM LEAK. This repair FINALLY appears to have addressed the problem. However, I have heard nothing from the company about what exactly was done on that day.

Made an appointment for an estimate on April 5. No one showed or called so, I called and the company and was told that the bad weather prevented him from coming. I could understand this so, we made an appointment for Thursday April 7. Thursday arrived and I waited again and nobody showed or called at the agreed time. Again I called the company but, I told them not to bother coming out because if you can't make it for an estimate I sure don't want them on my roof job.

Unfortunately this is true...with all the rain we had to reschedule his and 13 others on the 5th and double up the appointments for the next 2 days trying to get everyone done. His time was set for 9:30 on the 7th and my estimator was on his way at 10:15 but he called and canceled because we were running late.

On 2/23/2011 Don Snider came to give an estimate for a mobile home roof that was leaking. A proposal was made up and accepted by both parties to seal and coat the entire roof and free it from leaks for 1000 dollars, with a one year warranty. 300 dollars was paid to the company until the work was completed. The company sent out a worker on 2/24/2011, the worker stated he completed the work as stated on the proposal and gave us an invoice that stated "Job done". The weather on the 24th of February was cold and raining so the sealant did not set properly. The rust immediately started showing back through and the roof still leaked and some how the storm window got broken during his visit. We did not know it was still leaking since the worker wrote "Job done”. We went ahead and paid to have the inside water damaged instillation and ceiling tiles replaced. The following week the tiles were soaked with water and showing huge water spots in several different places. Don Snider sent out a new worker to fix what his first guy messed up, this guy sealed 9 spots on the roof that he said were bad and kept coming back to seal new found areas. We had to keep calling the company to come back out. All of a sudden Don Snider tells His worker to only coat half of the mobile home and leave the rest of the rust showing on the other half of the roof. The contract states” Roll on one coat of aluminum fiber coating as needed on entire mobile home”. The first guy put on the one coat in the cold rain was not enough to seal the roof. Finally after almost two months I asked Don Snider to come out him self to see the work that his men did. He said he would and never did. A week later 4/12/2011 we call Don Snider to see when they could come out to finish the job. Don Snider then told us that he wants to “call it even at the three hundred already paid and he no longer wants to work on the roof”. He stated that “his company has already spent too much time on the project”. As a result of the company’s awful work we now have to have the inside replaced all over again (which cost 1300 $) and we still have the problem with the leaky roof.

Response from Don Snider Roofing, Insulation, Siding, & Gutters
Don Snider estimated the roof to be patched and coated with one coat of aluminum fiber coating for her roof for $1000.00. He explained and reviewed the contract with her and she signed that day, at no time did he trick/confuse her into signing the contract. Within a few days we sent our technicians out to do the work, when they got there she stated she did not have the money. Don called her and said we had purchased the material and if she wanted we could complete the job and work our a payment plan of 300.00 a month. She agreed and the crew completed the work and gave us a check for 300.00. She had asked us to hold the check which I made a mistake and deposited early. I called her the very next day and explained what had happened and ask if we could subtract the 31.00 overdraft fee from the cost of her contract. The member called a few weeks later saying they still had a leak and I told him we would send the crew back. Tim went back and sealed up every gap that could possibly cause a leak on the roof. Her daughter called back a few days later saying the roof leak was still there so we went sent Tim back out and they refused to allow him do any work on the roof because he was not going to recoat the entire roof only fix the leak area in the bathroom. After talking with them we did sent Tim back out for a 4th time to fix the problem even though she had failed to make a payment that was due and he found no problem with the roof but was coming in through siding and gutters. He told her Don would call about addition work that needed to be done. When Don talked with the member she wanted the entire roof recoated and the other work to be done at no cost. He explained we could not do that she had only paid for one coat. She was not happy and Don told her we would cut our loses and call it even. She had over 1000.00 of work done and only paid 300.00. At no time did anyone ever mention a broken storm window; this is the first I am reading of it.

I called Don Snider again and he finally returned my call a few days later. I quietly told him that water had been pouring through my fireplace and that I had called State Farm and an insurance adjuster was coming out. Within a half hour, his technicians showed up in the rain and started repairing the chimney. I had to leave when they first got there so I did not get to see what they did. The adjuster came and inspected the chimney/roof repair and gave me a check (minus my deductible) for the damage in the house. The adjuster said the damage was due to incorrect installation of the roof around the chimney and the vent stack. After my trip to the roof with Don Snider, his technican installed a drip edge on the one side of the edge of my roof and it has been installed incorrectly as well. He has sent me a bill for it and I have called him to discuss the damage to the house due to his company's incorrect installation of the roof to the chimney and the incorrect installation of a worn vent stack that caused the damage to the upstairs' hallway and master bedroom and the incorrect installation of the drip edge to the edge of the roof. I still have not received a call from him. To date, I have spent over $10,000 for his company's services and have referred him to many of my clients. I expected great service from his company and even more so, I expected respect. I feel that he has treated me as an "ignorant dumb woman" who he tries to appease with a pat on my head and minimal incorrect solutions to the problems his company created. My contractors have told me that the repair to my chimney/wall is still incorrect, that the materials used (more caulk) were not the right materials, and that I will have the same problems as soon as the caulk begins to disintegrate. The chimney/roof repair required flashing materials and mortar according to the adjusters at State Farm and those materials were not used. Needless to say, I will never refer Don Snider Roofing to anyone again. The financial losses due to the repairs I must make to the house are substantially less than the on-going anxiety and loss of faith that I have personally incurred. I trusted Don Snider and his company, thought I had a solid relationship with a good vendor and was on a first-name basis with everyone in his office. I joined Angie's List just so I could warn anyone who may be using his company to be careful and to scrutinze all of the work being performed, reviewing every step they complete, while using a trusted general contractor to oversee the job. No one wants to feel that they have been "had" or cheated -- I can truly say that is how I feel -- especially by an owner and his company whose services I had used for years and thought that I could trust.
Description of Work: Don Snider Roofing replaced the roof after Hurricane Ike blew through West Chester. I received the estimate and check from State Farm and hired Don Snider Roofing. The roof was finally replaced in early 2010. In February 2011, I noticed a stain on my ceiling above the fireplace mantle. I called Don Snider Roofing and told them. They sent a technican who used caulk to seal the chimney to the roof. It was 20 degrees outside but the technican told me that it would be fine. (Caulk should not be used below mid-forty degree weather.) That same week, I later noticed a wall bulging in my upstairs hallway and a stain in the doorway of my master bedroom. I called my contractors and they came out and told me it was from the vent stack on the roof. I called Don Snider Roofing again and Don Snider came out. We both went onto the roof to inspect the vent stack and the chimney. (I noticed that he had not replaced my worn vent stack when he replaced the roof.) He told me the vent stack and chimney cap needed caulk. Two weeks later with no repairs made, we had a heavy downpour and water poured into the fireplace, through the mantle, the tiles and the fireplace screen and the stain on the ceiling got larger. I put my hand up through the chimney flue and it was dry. I took pictures of the damage to the walls, ceilings and fireplace. My contractors, who I use all of the time, told me it was not the chimney cap but it was the seal around the chimney and the roof. I called Don Snider Roofing again and he denied it. I then called State Farm and found out that Don Snider Roofing was supposed to have replaced the vent stack and other items the company did not do. I called Don Snider and he did not return my calls for days. I finally called State Farm again and requested an adjuster come out to inspect the damage. State Farm informed me that it would go against my insurance policy, whereas the initial roofing damage had been catagorized as "Catastrophic". I understood and scheduled the adjuster.

Response from Don Snider Roofing, Insulation, Siding, & Gutters
In November of 2009 we replaced the member's roof and in December of 2010 we added insulation and cleaned the gutters and downspouts for her. In February 2011 the member called seeing stains on the ceiling. With in 2 days of her call we sent a technician out and sealed around heat stacks. the member called back saying she still had the problem so Don Snider went out he and the member both went onto the roof where the rain collar had came loose from the heat stack which was a product failure. He also showed her the metal cap on top of her chimney was leaking and causing most of the problem. Both the heat stack and the metal cap on top of the chimney was not on her contract with the roof to be replaced. But Don sent the crew back out with in there and repaired both problems plus sealed the siding above the window behind the chimney all at no charge to her. Don has returned all of her calls responding within a day or two of her calls. She was worried about the insulation that it might have gotten wet so Don went over at 7:00 pm and set up a ladder for her to look at her insulation again at no charge to her. The member called me on 4/8/11 to say she was not happy and Don left her a message on 4/9/11 but she has not responded to his call. At no time did he ever treat her as a ignorant dumb woman and responded to each call he she made but she didn't want to hear the truth that the problem was caused from a cap that was never replaced by our company only sealed for her at no cost and has not had the leak since we repaired it. She has been a good customer for many years and it hurts us that she feels this way.

My neighbor referred Don to us after he installed a new ridgevent. Don's team came out and left us with a professional estimate with the product literature, warranty info, and insurance info. It actually took us a few months to decide to do the job, but once we did he came right out. We love the product and so far the so good... I've already referred him to a few friends and neighbors.

The estimator called when I expected, told me that he was nearby and asked if I could meet him in 30 minutes. He arrived on time and I explained the problem. He proposed a solution of removing the shingles, installing ice & water shield, flashing, etc. He gave me a written proposal with prices. I also asked him about adding additional insulation to the attic. He told me that his company didn't do that, but could recommend some reputable companies that did. I obtained estimates from two other sources. All estimates were pretty close. I decided to go with the one in the middle. I didn't end up picking Don Snider for this particular job, but I will definitely call them back in the future if I need their services. It also helped that the company I picked also did attic insulation.

Don Snider Roofing strives to make all customers happy and their experience with us a very positive one, I apologize to see that you was noot happy with our company but I would like to say that at the time while this job was on the schedule we had treacherous rain for several days then ontop of that we then had snow. As our contract states payment is due upon completion but we understand if the homeowner is not home at the time, so we wait 5 business days and if we still have not received payment we will make a courteous reminder call and we do like to let our customers know that we can except payment by credit card and alot of homeowners are please to find that out. When we got the call that there was some of the work not completed we immediately sent a crew back out there to make sure all the work was completed 100%. Also as far as the 2% discount, we gladly give all Angie List Members that discount but we need to know they are a member, if the homeowner does not mention this to us we have no way of knowing. We want all of Angie List Members to know Don Snider Roofing takes pride in all of our work and all of our employees are very professional. If there is anything we can do please feel free to call the office.

I had significant wind damage ont eh roof of our home, causing damage to the ceiling inside the home as well. Don Snider roofing was very prompt in coming out and gving me an estimate. I also got estimates from 2 other company's. I had a couple of questions on tings and he was very courteous and helpful. he also told me one thing that another company was going to add, and he didn't have on his estimate was because it was a big money maker for the roofing company, and that my home didn't need it. I appreciated his honesty, and his price came in the lowest. Once I contracted with them, they were at the house less tahn a week later and got the roof done in one day. I am very happy with it, and the price and service.

Estimator came out as promised and left a professional proposal in mailbox. Office called several days later to follow up if we wanted work done. The work was scheduled and the crew came as promised. The work that was done was professional and I am thoroughly satisfied. I needed a better paid receipt to satisfy closing on the house (I added additional work to initial proposal and needed it called out) and they immediately fulfilled my request and e-mailed a new paid receipt. The estimate was was the lowest and we went with them based on other reviews from Angies List. Entire job was done in 1 day which was great but speed is not always most important. There were several items that required a 2nd visit and a LOT of nails left behind in flower beds and grass. They only did a magnetic roller, nobody walked around with magnetic wand to try and pick up loose nails. They did put down tarps but doesn't do much good when they are ripped or torn. Disappointed that the experience didn't match the reviews we had read online.

Response from Don Snider Roofing, Insulation, Siding, & Gutters
Don Snider Roofiing was not aware of the customers concerns until we received a email from Angies List, we immediately called the customer and assured them that we would do what ever they needed to make them happy, that we take pride in ALL of our work. They was very happy we called but did not need for us to come back out since they had recently had mulching done.

I was very happy and it was great. They gave a written estimate and were very prompt. They even gave me a copy of their workman's comp and liability insurance policies. They fixed it all within a week.
Description of Work: I used Snider Roofing for an overall evaluation of the roof to see if I needed a roof replacement. He recommended about six different things to fix, such as nail pops, vent repair and flashing repair. He did the six repairs and now my roof should last another five years.

Due to the weather the roof replacement took a little longer than I expected but the end quality of the work was excellent. The price was not the best estimate I had received but was competitive. The gutter guards were added in all within the price of the insurance settlement. The only very minor complaint would be the post-repair clean-up. I was finding roofing nails around the house and yard for quite a while after the work was done.
Description of Work: Snider replaced my roof after the Ike windstorm. I was on the waiting list for several companies and Snider came through for me first. They also installed gutter guards and repaired my chimney cap when replacing the roof.
