Description of Work: They switched out a lock. It went well and they were very nice. The only complaint I have is that it seemed like they weren't 100% certain of what to charge me. They first mentioned the service fee as $75 but charged $85 on the receipt.

Thanks for the review. Some latches are not engineered like they were once. I call it our "throw away" society where it is easier to replace things than to fix things. So, if you notice the dead latch (small part of your latch) broken or gone, replace the latch BEFORE the door is stuck shut.

Description of Work: Re keyed 2 locks, replaced deadbolt on front door and repaired sticking latch on screen door. Appointment was scheduled for 2 pm and when he hadn't arrived at 2:30 I called him. He said he was finishing up another appointment and was going to call me. He arrived at about 3 pm. If he had called me before the scheduled time or a few minutes late I would not have rated him low on punctuality, since I understand that service calls can sometimes take longer than expected. I'm not sure I would use his services again because of the punctuality issue.

I told this customer, like I tell all customers, I would arrive between 2 and 3. Even though I try very hard, I cannot please everyone. Some people you cannot please at all. Since I was not to arrive until 3 at the latest like discussed, I would have called before arriving. However, this inpatient customer called me 30 minutes before the agreed to time.

Description of Work: Mr. Lang replaced four locks and re-keyed them so that I only needed one key for my home. I had the wrong kind of lock for two of the doors and he immediately rescheduled the next day to finish the work. Since he was there already, I had him replace two of the locks and he gave me credit for next visit. It appears that they don't make the kind that I was trying to replace. All the locks have been working great and no one in the family has had any trouble with them since their installation. I would recommend Mr. Lang for future service. |

Thanks for the review. This customer had a keyless push number lock with a Schlage jetway and Kwikset locks on the other doors. In order for one key to work, she needed Schlage keyways for the other locks. Since she bought her own hardware, she had to take back the Kwikset and get Schlage. Remember, if you want one key to work all the locks, all the locks must have one key fit into the keyhole. I can change the inside to make the key turn.

If your home is over 10 miles from Beckett Ridge, it is less expensive to purchase a deal from Angie's List. However, if your home is closer, the 10% Angie's List member discount is less expensive. If you want the best deal, call me first.

Thanks for the review. Locks made in the 90's and 2000's have an engineering problem with the latch, where there is pressure on one joint that keeps breaking. When this joint breaks, the latch will not retract, thus your door will not open. We physically open the door or remove the latch and replace it with a better engineered latch. If you notice the small latch next to the big latch (called the "dead latch") is broken off or stuck inside the latch, get the latch changed quickly. It will still operate for a few hundred times, but eventually will not retract.

Thanks for the review. Not sure why price was a "B". Most locksmiths would have replaced the cylinder and charged well over $200. I gave the customer the choice of a new lock or used cylinder and he went with the used cylinder. $95 for this service is very well with the normal range and lower than most.

Thanks for the review. I usually give a time frame I will arrive, due to the nature of the business. Some jobs have challenges, which increases the time needed to complete the job. That makes me late for the next job. I am working to resolve these issues by scheduling job to account for time crunches and calling to let the customer know if I have a time issue. I did this with this customer, saying I would be there between 9 and 10 and calling her at 9:15 stating I would be there in 30 minutes (9:45). I feel I should not be a "B" for punctuality since I was there in the time frame mentioned.
