Thanks for the review. The customer just purchased this home and had new locks to install. Normal charges for reinstall is $25 per lock. This is different than a rekey (which is $25 per door). Customer purchased rekey deal, so additional charges should be included.

Thanks for the review. I reprogrammed the garage door opener and rekeyed some doors. When reprogramming garage doors (installed after 1984), you first delete all existing remotes. You then reprogram only the remotes you want to work. Each garage door has its own procedure to do this.

Thanks for the review. Sometimes in this business some jobs take longer than expected. I usually call to let you know a job is running long and I will be late. In this case, the appointment was set weeks in advanced and I had it in my schedule for the following day. Please do not hesitate to call if I have not arrived at a scheduled appointment. Sometimes mistakes are made on these "smart phones".

Thanks for the review. I carry standard locks on my vehicle. I suggest customers purchase locks and have me install those locks. They are less expensive if you buy them and you are able to pick out the locks you want.

Thanks for the review. I do have a key cutter in my vehicle, so I can make keys at you home or business. However, I do not make keys for cars. With the changes over the last few years in the automotive industry, it would cost $80,000 to get all the equipment and computer software to make keys for vehicles, and then get annual updates for $20,000 to $50,000. I am an independent locksmith and do not have the resources necessary for this venture. That is why people charge so much for vehicle keys.

I appreciate you taking time to give us a review. This job was a misunderstanding. We thought it was a rekey, but it was a reinstall. We quoted a rekey price, but when arriving realized it was a reinstall, which is twice the cost. Because we quoted the price, we honored that price and took a large loss on the work completed.

Thanks for the Review. Rekeys are about 70% of our business. It allows us to use the current hardware on the door and make a new key will work, making all the current keys no operable. When possible, we try to make one key work all the locks in the home. If a key will fit into the lock, we can make it work the lock, so if one key fits all the locks in the home, we can make one key work without replacing the hardware. If the same key does not fit into the lock, the hardware would need to be changed.

THANKS FOR THE RESPONSE. You are getting over 35 years of experience when hiring me, so the prices are on the upper end. However, I do not overcharge, like some people charging over $500 per hour. Make sure you get a quote before hiring anyone. Standard prices for locksmiths in the Cincinnati area should be around $60 per hour plus service charge.

Description of Work: I had a warehouse door that was broken on a Saturday afternoon. I logged into AL, saw Jim as well rates and called Jim at 2:20. He was on site in 20 minutes, had the lock fixed in 15 minutes and my staff could go home to send the day with family. GREAT job Jim and AL. .

The member had a commercial grade mortise lock, which cost $250-$450. It needed replaced, but the person there said they had one on order. I secured the property and made the broken lock workable until the new lock is installed.

The latch broke on this door and needed replaced. I made a second service call to this location and fixed another customer-initiated problem for which I did not charge. Most locksmiths would have charged for the service call and time to repair the second problem (total of over $150 from another company) - and for that I received a "B" in price.
