+ -1 moreThis guy are definitely not sales people but they may be the best roofers I've run into. They aren't exactly professional about selling you something but the thing I noticed was that roofing has a lot of subcontracting going on, but with them there was nothing.

+ -1 moreAlmost all the work was done by Jason Dunham who managed to squeeze us in on short notice. He was very helpful and obviously knows what he's doing. He had to replace part of the rubber roof and patch and paint the corner where the roof had leaked and rotted the wood on our patio overhang. To make it possible for us to see what was going on with the actual roof, he took photos with his smart phone, showing us the before and after of each step along the way. He figured out a way to repair the rotting corner without delaying the repairs for weeks by ordering the same kind of wood (redwood is hard to find). I supplied some paint, and he spent a lot of time on the last day sanding and painting the affected area. He even sprayed ant killer on it when he spotted a large ant. Basically, Jason went above and beyond to make this repair. It looks brand new.

+ 0 moreI received a glowing recommendation of RoofWise from my accountant & contacted them regarding a stubborn leak I've battled where the family room addition meets the original house. I also asked for a recommendation regarding ongoing garage leaks. Following a detailed inspection Roofwise provided me with an estimate which included work they recommended, as well as additional options addressing problems I hadn't yet dentified but were likely to cause problems in the future. I decided to go ahead with all the work and options, including replacing the skylights which were definitely showing signs of age. The garage was completed in a day, and a smaller crew worked the next 4 days completing the more labor intensive work. The workers were professional throughout, & made a number of additional repairs not included in the original estimate. Although the repairs were only recently completed, I have not experienced any further problems and would strongly recommend RoofWise for future roofing needs.
Description of Work: Replaced slate on residence, shingles on addition & garage, & skylights on addition. Replaced damaged wood on house & garage. Sanded, primed & painted metal window casings.

+ -1 moreWe had a leak as it was raining very hard and we had taken down the dinning room ceiling and there was a small leak. They did some patching. We used them 2 years prior to do a patch and flashing on the roof. I was satisfied with the outcome. They came out to do the patch and we had them give us an estimate for a new roof. We have some problems on our second floor because we don’t have too much of air flow. They didn’t really come into the house to see what the problem was and you really can’t tell in the winter but in the summer it is very hot. It took us 2 weeks to get an estimate from them. I got another estimate and they took into account the air flow. I would rate them high for the patch stuff but I don’t know if they really understood my problem with the summer heat on the 2nd floor. We haven’t done anything about re-roofing yet but I don’t know if we would with them because they didn’t take into account the problem we have with heat in the summer. Their responsiveness was very good and they came out the very next day to do the patching. I wouldn’t use them for a new roof but I would use them for patching.

+ 2 moreThe roof had been damaged by hail and I'd had estimates up to ten times this amount, as one company insisted I needed to tear the roof off and replace it. Over several months we discussed the scope of what would be done, with several proposed estimates being provided. Roof wise made a concerted effort to get the job done before winter weather, and I'm very happy with the quality of the work they did. The flashing around the landing is not only fully functional, it is extremely aesthetically pleasing. It will also last a very very long time--beyond my lifetime. Several other roofers bid on this job. This was the lowest bid; it was the only bid that had a scheme for redoing the flashing around the landing that made any sense. I felt I could communicate well with them, and I liked all of them.
Description of Work: Complete inspection of slate roof and replacement of a few dozen slates; tinned many other slates; reflashed a chimney; reinforced part of a porch roof where the gutter was too low to get to flow; straightened and rehung all gutters so that they flow properly; replaced all gutters around a landing with larger capacity gutters; reflashed around a concrete landing and set flashing into the concrete while flashing around the feet of a wrought iron fence bordering the landing. The last job noted was done with the quality and care of an artisan and ended leakage that had been ongoing since before I bought the property 15 years prior.

+ 0 moreWe used this company over another because we thought a smaller company would give a better quality and more personal touch. The sky light leaked immediately, was told it was because the interior humidity is too high and the "leak" was just interior moisture. Made me feel like it was my fault. "Coincidentally" it leaked and stained when snow was on the roof, no other time, or other skylight. Still looks bad. Recently I had to have flashing glued and re-nailed, they didn't use roofing nails, just smooth ones, have had leaks because of this. I used my handy man, didn't call them. Also, the shingles are already badly stained. Not sure if this is natural or not. None of my neighbors homes have it, just mine. My roof is the newest too. Wish we had gone with the larger company, for $10,000 less.
Description of Work: Total roof removal. All new roof installed with supposedly better ventilation, new wood, insulation and everything a roof needs. 4 new skylights.

Description of Work: I had gotten some roof work from another provider. The overall quality of the work was generally unsatisfactory. Roofwise came in surveyed the situation and told me the process by which the roof could be properly repaired. They gave me an estimate then proceeded to do the work when the weather permitted. The roof was tested immediately because the day after they finished the repairs we got a heavy rain. The repaired roof held up to the test and has performed as expected since then.

+ 0 moreNOT GOOD - NO FOLLOW UP CALL TO SET A DATE TO REPAIR CHIMNEY EVEN THOUGH LUTHER STATED HE AND ROOFWISE WERE INTERESTED IN THE JOB.
Description of Work: Above questions were answered based on non-follow up by Roofwise/Luther. Contacted Roofwise for chimney repairs. Luther was the Roofwise associate who visited my home, reviewed extent of required chimney repairs and had the estimate typed and sent to me via mail. Luther actually got on the roof to investigate chimney damage up close. That impressed me as the other chimney repair companies did not - they looked at the chimney from the front sidewalk. However, once Luther was told I wanted Roofwise to repair the chimney, I was told a date would be decided on. I never heard back from Luther and called and asked if he and the company Roofwise were still interested in the chimney repair job. Luther's response was yes and the weather had been bad but, weather permitting, he would get to repairing the chimney next Thursday. Well, many Thursdays since that conversation have come and gone and I have not heard anything from Roofwise or Luther. Not following up with any information regarding the chimney repair is unprofessional and discourteous. I have contacted another company on Angie's List and hope to give you good feedback regarding that company.

+ -1 moreWe could not be happier with our new roof. Roofwise did a fantastic job at a reasonable price and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. If you are in need of a new roof, we would highly recommend you speak with Paul and Jason from Roofwise.
Description of Work: We have a large home with a very steep wood shake roof that sustained substantial wind damage and needed a complete replacement. We decided to use a new roofing product made from a composite molded rubber to look like wood shakes but be much more durable. We ordered all the roofing materials directly from the roofing manufacturer’s representative and contracted a local roofing company to do the install. Because it is a new product, and required specific installation methods, the manufacturer sent a field engineer from out of state to train the crew on the correct installation methods. The roofing crew started out fine but by the second day on the garage alone, they started making installation mistakes and quickly became frustrated with the job. After only two days on the job the roofing company stopped working on our roof stating that they need to finish another job and will be back in a few days. They never did come back. Their excuse was that the material was very difficult to install and that the job was taking too long. They literally walked off the job and left us with no one to install our new roof. After two months of calling manufacturer recommended roofing companies only to find that they could not start our job anytime soon and could not even give us a start date, we decided to look for a roofing company on Angie’s List. We interviewed several high-ranked companies we found on Angie’s List and received estimates. One Angie’s List high-ranked company with the most reviews gave us an astronomical price to finish the job. They asked more than three times the price of the next highest bid. It was obvious to us that they were trying to take advantage of our situation. We received three other bids and after careful consideration; we decided to hire Roofwise Roofing for the job. Roofwise was not the least expensive but even during my initial meeting with the owner, Paul Nilo and his crew leader Jason, I felt that they had the best handle on the Job. They were the only ones to immediately see the mistakes made by the previous roofers, and the only ones that asked if it would be possible to get the manufacturer’s field engineer out for a second time so their crew could receive training on the specific installation methods required for a proper install. That told us that they were willing to go above and beyond to make sure the job was done right. We agreed on a start date and without a hitch the job was underway. From start to finish Roofwise did excellent work and made sure the jobsite remained neat and organized. Jason was on the job every day and kept us aware of the progress being made. Roofwise even went back and repaired the mistakes made by the previous roofers.

+ 1 moreI contacted RoofWise Roofing Inc in July 2010 to get an estimate on replacing the roof of my ranch house. An estimator came out and walked over the roof and then discussed replacing it with me. We also discussed replacing a damaged gutter in the front, repairing a sagging back gutter which did not drain properly, and putting a rain barrel in. He suggested clips to hold the gutter up, but said it might not work. He answered my questions and explained different components of the roofing system thoroughly. He was pleasant, helpful and seemed very knowledgeable. He explained that a likely future consequence of getting a ridge vent would be that I might need more insulation. This was helpful and made me feel he cared about the overall functioning of the house. He recommended chimney caps for the chimney and new soil stack boots. He offered to get roofing shingle samples and put them on the roof to help me decide on a color. He also showed me some sample shingles. I received a bid within a week. It was very professionally done and the price was reasonable compared to my other two bids. A helpful pre-roofing checklist was included. RoofWise offered a 5 year warranty on parts and labor, which was very good. My decision was difficult because all of the companies I interviewed sounded good. I give RoofWise an A in a relevant categories. My one suggestion is that they work on developing a more consistent and professional telephone response, when someone calls the office.

Description of Work: This company did a repair on my veterinary hospital - replaced the roof on half the hospital where it had suffered hail damage to the shingles and they did a great job so we had them do the roof on our house and they did a great job on both. One of the valley's on the roof at the hospital needed to be adjusted and they were out the next day to fix it. They were there when they said they would be. I would highly recommend them.

+ -1 moreI contacted Roofwise about giving me a bid and made arrangements to meet at my home with a man named "Luther" on Saturday morning at 10:00. My daughter had come into town for the week and we raced to the store to be back in time for the meeting, skipping other errands in the part of town we'd driven to, through orange-barrel h***. Fifteen to twenty minutes after 10:00, I listened to my messages and one was Luther cancelling our 10:00am appointment--at 9:40am! I called him and he asked if he could do it later in the day...no real apology, no real excuse. It was very frustrating and made for a very bad impression on Roofwise, I'm sorry to say. I would never recommend them because of Luther's dearth of manners.

+ 0 moreRoofwise was recommended by several friends and neighbors. My project was to remove the tin roof on my house, replace sheathing, install shingles, and repair/reline built in box gutters. Luther,a Roofwise foreman, came the same day I called to inspect the project to estimate the job. That was in August 2009. However, the roofers did not start work until right after New Years. I am highly satisfied with the responsiveness and professionalism of this company, the delay in start date notwithstanding. I have noticed some water staining on the soffits in two places, suggesting that some leaks persist. But Luther responded quickly when I phoned about this and I am confident Roofwise will solve this problem.
Description of Work: Removed tin roof on 170+ year old house. Replace sheathing. Install shingles. Reline built in box gutters.

However, their quote was way higher than the others and took forever to arrive. They know roofing. I think. But that's where the professionalism ended.
