From the moment I met Danielle and Andy, I felt very confident and comfortable that every detail would be tended to! They were very professional, responsive, friendly, reasonably priced, and punctual. The start date for my project was September 15, 2014 and the entire crew was at my home promptly at 8:30am! Every day, they were all consistently on time and worked steadily until the end of the work day. The estimated completion was scheduled October 3rd and they finished 3 days early! Their dedication to quality and workmanship was unsurpassed and I would highly recommend them. I plan on having them return to do some work on my front porch as well! In gathering estimates for this job, while they were not the lowest bid they were not the highest bid either. I am so thankful I didn't go with the cheapest because the piece of mind and attention to every detail along with the quality of workmanship can not be stessed enough when you have a large job that will add beauty and value to your most important asset, your home! Thanks Danielle, Andy and all the guys....we appreciate everything you did for us!

GBR were very nice and extremely professional. They also helped us with alternative ideas that could save us some money. The estimate was received as promised. We did receive another estimate from someone else and decided to go with that person, but I felt very comfortable with GBR and would consult with them again. I would really like to thank them for their professionalism since we had a very bad experience with another company. Good work GBR.

I needed a large concrete planter (in the front) and retaining walls (back in a patio) replaced/refurbished at my residence. GBR gave a quote, which was way more expensive than every other mason I quoted. The lady I spoke to told me it was because they were the best mason in Columbus, and I should not trust any other masons/contractors to do the job (basically trying to scare me into over paying for them). I told them I would use them for the back job only, and use another mason for the front job. The lady at the number on here was not good at costumer service. Acted like they didn't really need the job and then did not call me back. Do not use this company. You can find several others that charge less, are better at customer service and responsiveness, and do just as good of a job. The mason I hired did it for 75% of their price and it looks beautiful. I will never call this company ever again.

Was absolutely great, they were on time (beat me there) and greeted with a smile. was very knowledgeable about the masonry work they were looking at. Thankfully everything was OK and now work was necessary. What I liked most is that even though there were things that could of been fixed for cosmetic purposes, they weren't pushed on me and they were happy to just provide me with the information and peace of mind that I needed. They gave me a couple ball park quotes on what it would cost to do any of the cosmetic adjustments to the brickwork and we left it at that. I would definitely seek their service again next time I think I might need help with masonry related issues.

I worked directly with Danielle and everything was so smooth and easy from start to finish. The estimate and work were all was done in a timely fashion even though this is their busiest time of the year. They showed up at 8:00am on the dot as scheduled and the work was performed to perfection and was done in one day. The wall looked even better than it did before it was hit by the car! There was a garden at the top of the wall, and I was worried that they might have to tear it out to fix the wall, but they managed to save everything growing there. In addition to the repairs, they also cemented some adjacent rocks that were loose that had nothing to do with being hit by the car..........just had come loose from age. They really went above and beyond the call of duty and did it all with a personal touch. I would recommend them in a heart beat. They deserve their Super Service Award.

This was not a small job, and a main concern was how it would look when it was all done, since the remainder of the wall and roof was in good shape. Andrew and Danielle and their crew did an outstanding job. They carefully cut out each individual piece of stone, then cleaned the mortar off each piece so it could be reinstalled. The roofing and framing subcontractors were also very professional and did outstanding work. GBR Masonry managed the whole process extremely well, updating me on scheduling, what was going to take place and when, and were very responsive to questions. Now that the job is completed, it is amazing - you cannot tell what stone was removed and what was untouched - everything matches perfectly.

I was informed by someone who did have the courtesy to provide me a quote that my job was probably too small to be considered worthwhile, thus lack of response. Which is a pretty terrible way to run a business and maintain your good name, especially during a time when reviews like this are so easily written, but unfortunately a trend I have seen over and over again with home repair providers, and based on some other comments here, a trend for GBR Masonry.
Description of Work: I emailed GBR Masonry via their contact form on their website around 6/5/14 to get an estimate for a patio. When I hadn't heard back from them, despite their 24 hour promises, I called on 6/11/14. Now, as of 6/22/14, still have heard no response in any way.

The owner came to my house on time for the initial appointment on May 1. He and I spent about over an hour looking at and discussing my house's porch foundation, which is where the problem was. He told me his wife would come look at the job separately and that they would email me an estimate the following week. It never happened. In mid-May, I telephoned and left a message and got no reply. Finally, at the end of the month (!), his wife called to say they'd moved their office, her husband had injured himself at work, and that they could not do the work I needed. I'm sorry for their problems, but a simple phone call three weeks earlier would have let me off the hook. They took my time (an hour and half minimum) and did nothing for me.
Description of Work: I got a very positive sense of the company from the Angie's List entry. I called on 4/28/14, left a message. They called me back a day or two later to set up an appointment.

We had spent time contacting the city during those couple weeks trying to get a city official to the property to discuss the structure. We informed him that needed to contact a structural engineer and architect to develop drawings for the structural foundation issues that he was experiencing. We told him we could not provide him with an estimate without structural drawings for the work that needed to be performed. We also informed him that, probably his best option was to do away with the masonry and install wooden/composite material for a more cost effective approach.

Our brick fronted garage had suffered water damage from gutters that were improperly mounted (whch were fixed prior to the tuck pointing). The mortar was deteriorating and the facing and the front door stonework had separated. Within a week of my calling, Danielle and Andy came out and gave an estimate. We were so impressed with their knowledge, that we contracted with them that day. The work was done within the following two weeks (working around the wacky weather), and we are extremely satisfied.

We were extremely pleased with the work performed by GBR Masonry at our home. I had contacted Danielle with GBR and she promptly sent a representative to our home to determine what work they would recommend. We then received an estimate for the work. Danielle answered a number of questions that I had and seemed much more knowledgeable about masonry work than any of the other companies I had contacted. We decided to have GBR perform the repairs. The crew arrived at the scheduled time and worked very hard, dismantling our brick steps, removing all old mortar from the steps, rebuilding the steps and then applying a protective product. The crew was very polite and they did a good job cleaning up after they were done with the steps. The work they performed was first-class and I would highly recommend them to anyone considering masonry work. I might add that this was the 4th time we have had work done on these steps and the work done by the other 3 companies was not nearly as well done as the work done by GBR.

Danielle and Andy came out to give us an estimate the day we contacted them, emailed the estimate to us the next day (which we accepted), and began work the following day. Two days later the project was completed They had just completed another job and since our job was relatively small, they were able to fit us in quickly. When the job was completed they hauled away the debris and cleaned up the area. Danielle, Andy, and their crew were very professional. The cost was consistent with other estimates we had received. We were very with our experience with GBR and their work.

They were great. The job was very small and the owner thought that a smaller company would charge me less money to do the work than he would, being a big company. He thought that would be a better way to go; he was extremely good about that. I have some foundation work that I am going to need in the near future and he went ahead and looked at that and gave me his opinion on it even though he was not even there for that. When I go to have that work done, I will call them to do it. I did not think his price was out of what I thought it would be. His responsiveness was great; he even called me back later with somebody else to recommend. He was right on time, when he said he would be here.

I was very pleased with GBR from the very start as Danielle was very responsive to my initial inquiries. I scheduled an on-site estimate and Danielle and Andrew arrived promptly and took the time to explain everything to me and answer all of my questions. When the crew arrived to complete the work, they were very efficient, professional and cleaned up after they were done. Overall, it was about a 5-6 hour job with a crew of 4-5 people.
Description of Work: I have a brick-front house as well as a chimney that needed some attention so I hired GBR to re-tuck some problem areas (cracks in the mortar) and cover up exposed holes in the bricks that were sticking out on the "coin corners" of the house.

Originally I called GBR to look at my foundation because a significant number of blocks had small areas that were crumbling on the exterior that I wanted to repair. Danielle and Andy spent over an hour inspecting the foundation, the joints between outside surfaces, the basement, the chimney, and the addition crawl space. Their verdict was that I had water coming in from several places and as long as I had water in the blocks, they were going to continue to deteriorate. The main areas where water was coming in were from the chimney cap which was cracked, various joints where the stone front met the shingles and the addition met the house, and the below grade basement window sills that were covered in mulch to the point that they were crumbling. Danielle sent me a very detailed estimate using an online statement and receipt site. We negotiated several points and she sent me a final estimate. Once I mailed her the initial payment, work was scheduled. They arrived at the scheduled time with 4 people and went right to work on the exterior, filling joints and tuck pointing. We had removed the mulch down to the proper grade and they rebuilt or repaired every one of the basement window sills. One was particularly bad and Andy sealed the block under it with a waterproof barrier. Andy noticed that the cement steps at the side door had sunk and they removed the cracked joint and reattached the stairs to the house. They cleaned up any mess they made and even used their blower to blow our leaves to the curb for the city leaf pickup which I greatly appreciated. The second day they worked in the basement. There were stair step cracks to repair and they sealed off the ash pit after removing a significant amount of wet and nasty ashes. They also scraped all the efflorescence from the basement walls throughout the entire basement. They were very careful not to make a mess and totally cleaned up what little mess they made. The third day was the chimney cap repair. They built scaffolding, replaced the chimney cap, repaired some cracked brick and then sprayed the entire chimney with sealant. They also re-mortared some blocks on the landing of our addition entrance stairs. Water coming through those stairs was a source of moisture in the addition crawl space. Again such care was taken with the scaffolding not to tear up the lawn and everything was cleaned up.

I contacted them through their website to come and give me an estimate of what it would take to extend the height of my chimney. Danielle told me they would not be starting any new fireplace jobs this year. I asked if they could come and look so that I would know about what something like this would cost. She explained that their estimates were only good for 30 days and they were not interested in looking. I just moved into my house and have a broken fireplace. It smokes my house up when I use it. They were responsive which is why this is only a D and not an F. After all the favorable reviews on here, I would have expected them to at least help me with an estimate even though it could change by the time they could get to the work.

(Removed Member Name), We sincerely apologize that we are not able to help you with the scope of chimney work you have requested this time of year. Taking the time to inspect your chimney during this season is not an ideal business situation to be in knowing work cannot be performed for at least 3 months time. We would however be willing to accept photographs of your existing chimney to provide you with an informal "ball park" figure to help you with the other estimates you have received, as you mentioned we were not the only company you contacted. We will look forward to receiving your images, in which you will receive a general figure to help you budget this project. If we don't hear from you, we wish you the best of luck moving forward!

The initial contact with Danielle was prompt and very professional. I gave her the the location of the commercial building to visit at their convenience in order to provide a quote for the necessary repairs. I expressed to her that most of the windows were leaking inside the offices which was a main concern to have fixed. I then met them at the building to review the quote. I was very impressed with the amount of detail they provided to me for the necessary repair work. This made me feel very confident in their ability to do the job successfully. I went ahead and scheduled them for the work. They arrived as scheduled, provided all the work as quoted, and I am amazed at the end result. What a great job they did! I would highly recommend GBR Masonry to anyone needing their type of services.

From first contact, GBR was responsive - fabulously so. The office manager listened to my needs, had me take JPEG pictures to send to them so they could see what needed to be done. Then they followed up with a visit to make the estimate. They pointed out additional areas that needed to be addressed AND looked at our chimney while they were there (separate quote already received for that job for the future). They estimated their work schedule as being two weeks out - and they called the day before two weeks to say they were coming exactly as estimated. They showed up on time - and they worked all day (crew of 3 full time) until the work was completed. Looks fabulous - and I am so glad this repair is done. This is a very professional business and the quality of work is very, very high. Worth the money; will hire again. Can you say "Super Service"?
