The contract was signed and a deposit was given prior to start of the work. once completed the contract indicated the second installment of payment and marked paid in full. Approximately one year later I began to receive harassing phone calls from the company indicating I owed them another $250.00. I sent them copies of the contract indicating payment in full and also copies of the cancelled checks. They never acknowledged receipt of those copies but kept making phone calls and sending bills indicating $250.00 balance. I told them I would not pay until they could indicate to me per contract where another $250.00 was warranted. They would not respond to my request. They could not tell me why they waited a year to collect what they thought I owed them. They have now sent this to a collection agency. I have turned this company over to the better business bureau. A confusing point with this company is the names of the company I was dealing with American Security and AV systems and also Connective Home. They have multiple addresses and I always had to clarify their name and address each time that I dealt with them on the phone.
Description of Work: Wired door and window for a security system and installed central vacuum in addition of home. Also provided with new vacuum cleaner

We bought our home in the Summer of 2009. The home had an existing alarm systme in it purchased from and monitored by Connective Home of Ohio. The salesman came out and met with my wife, looked at our AT&T uverse digital service and told us that the system we had was good and that as long as the phonelines were working we would security coverage. My wife signed the contract. In nine months of service we required two service calls. The second coming after the alarm began going off in the middle of the night. When we called the monitoring station they were not recieveing notice of the alarms and didn't know what the panel read out's meant. When I told them to put me in touch with someone who could help me I was hung up on despite the fact that I still didn't know if an intruder was in my home. I called 911 and as it turns out the system was simply misfiring. The next day I called Connective Home who sent a tech. The informed me that the system that we have is 10 to 12 years old, it's analog and our phone service (which was operational before the alarm system activation) was digital and that we'd need a new alarm system installed to have reliable service. The problem being that the signal was not consistantly transmitted over digital service so even if the phone connectivity is functioning properly the alarm system doesn't work reliably. The security company placed the importance of the sale before the quality of the service that they provided us. The fact that this company had been in my home on 2 occasions before pointing out the fact that my family's protection was being comprimised by an old system not working with the phone service on place. The fact that the monotoring station hung up on me at 2 AM when I thought I could have an intruder in the house forcing me to call 911 was unbelievable. The company is now fighting with us as we fired them and bought a new system from Broadview. Had Connective Home taken any time with us at the onset of our engagement we would have bought new technology from them but they placed their emphasis on making a fast sale and retaining the account rather than my families saftey.
Description of Work: We were sold services and they "monitored" for 9 months. In that time we had 2 post activation tech service calls and ended service after repeated middle of the night false alarms that the monitoring people were not recieveing and could not interpret.

WHILE THE SALESMAN; DAVE, THE INSTALLERS; STEVE, AND TODD, SCHEDULER; GAYE, WERE NICE TO WORK WITH, THIS COMPANY'S INTERNAL COMMUNICATION IS DYSFUNCTIONAL. THEIR COMMUNICATION WITH CUSTOMERS IS ALMOST NON-EXISTENT. THE ONLY WAY WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE ATTENTION OF THE OWNER, WHO IS BASED IN CLEVELAND, WAS TO WITHHOLD PART OF OUR FINAL PAYMENT. ALSO, IF WE HAD NOT STAYED ON TOP OF THIS JOB, THE PRE-WIRE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN DONE CORRECTLY, NECESSITATING OPENING THE NEW DRYWALL. AS IT WAS, ONE OF THE INTERCOM STATIONS WAS NOT PRE-WIRED, BUT WE DID NOT RECEIVE ANY COMPENSATION FOR THAT. TWO COMPONENTS OF THE FIRST SET OF STEREO EQUIPMENT BROUGHT OUT DID NOT WORK, AND HAD TO BE REORDERED. THE JOB WAS NOT COMPLETED IN THE AGREED UPON TIME, DUE TO LACK OF INTERNAL COMMUNICATION. I WISH I HAD CHECKED THE LIST (LIKE I USUALLY DO) BEFORE I HIRED THIS COMPANY, AND EXPERIENCED THIS NIGHTMARE.
Description of Work: THIS COMPANY PRE-WIRED OUR NEW HOME FOR SECURITY, INTERCOM, AND MEDIA ROOM SURROUND SOUND. THEY ALSO INSTALLED THE INTERCOM, SOME STEREO EQUIPMENT, AND SPEAKERS.
