+ 2 moreJohnathan came to our house, had the best plan for the restoration and a competitive price. We liked his ideas so much, we contracted for a landscape plan for our back yard and reviewed some drainage issues we were experiencing.We really loved the plan that they provided and the solution for the drainage problem. We contracted for them to add a drain on our patio which tied into the downspout drains to the street. The work was done in a timely professional manner.We are waiting until spring to begin to initiate the back yard landscape plan and we look forward to the changes and the experience.I cannot recommend this company highly enough. We have tried working with other companies, but they seemed more interested in their own ideas and did not really listen to our needs, Johnathan and his company listened. Thank you

+ 0 moreWe are pleased with the work and will use (and recommend) this company again. They arrived on-time, had the right equipment and finished the job in one day. It was not an easy job. Some of digging had to be done by hand and some arborvitae had to be moved to provide enough room for the trencher. The work, and entire experience, was very professional.
Description of Work: We had a trench dug in our side/back yard to bury a root barrier. The trench needed to be 125' long, 4" wide and a minimum of 30" deep.

+ 1 moreI am still waiting for them replant several plants, bury the light cords and replace the tree. I have called twice to have this "fixed" and am not happy with the results of dead plants and weeds.
Description of Work: We asked for a very low maintenance yard. The job was to create several beds, plant, top soil and mulch. Added a few lights and 1 ton of rocks/boulders. Spent $13k to have all of my beds full of weeds and 25% of the plants they put in are dead. Also, a dead tree that needs to be replaced and a second one that they told us to wait to see if it makes it to next year. They have come back twice to spray the beds that were supposed to have been treated when they were created. Was told that they could fix it next year for an additional cost by adding landscape fabric, which is what I suggested in the beginning and was told it was not necessary. If it costs me more, I am not sure how they are "fixing" it. Light cords were only buried under mulch, not in the ground. Mulch last less than 3 months. John L. is a good designer and detailed, but the when the idea is good and the result is sub-par and needs to be fixed at an additional cost, it is not worth the hassle.

+ -1 moreThe process started fine but there was no response to emails. I'm not sure what the problem was since the owner spent a considerable amount of time discussing what we wanted. It may be because we opted not to get the $250 'professional' landscape design. Contractors should be professional enough to let a customer know if they are not interested in doing a project. In the end, he wasted my time, not only for the hour spent with him but also the month wasted trying to get an estimate when I could have contacted another landscaper.
Description of Work: I contacted Carefree Gardens to get an estimate for landscaping. The owner, Jonathan, came to my home on June 13th. He arrived at the scheduled time. He spent almost an hour discussing what we would like done with the landscaping and making several good suggestions. We discussed our budget for the project and he agreed that he would be able keep the costs within this amount. On June 27th, I emailed Jonathan and asked if he had the estimate ready. When I did not receive a response to my email, I sent a second email on July 8th. As of today, July 15th, we still have not received a response.

+ 1 moreJonathan White is the owner and he and his company has just done phenomenal things for me because I had problems with landscaping in the past. He was phenomenal. He actually re-sealed my patio two years ago that another company in town destroyed. He came out and worked with me and we found the right product and re-did it and saved my patio. He re-built my stone patio connecting my house because 10 years ago it wasn’t done correctly and there was no drainage put in, so the wall was shifting. He completely demolished it and re-built it. I would tell others that he and his company crew have great ideas and are reliable. He will take the time to walk through his plans with you and that is hard to find. Overall from a pricing stand point compared to other landscapers he is definitely reasonable and he stands behind his work. I spent about $6000 on that last job.
Description of Work: I used Carefree Gardens LLC and he re-did my patio and a lot of my landscaping. The last time I used him was a month ago and he fixed the wall.

Description of Work: Jonathan came out and spent an hour with me. He listened to our concerns and put together a blue print. His price was very competitive. We had planned to move forward with his company, but we were relocated to another state. He is extremely professional; we would recommend him to friends and family.

+ -1 moreMy overall experience was negative. First, the owner takes a good amount of time to return calls/e-mails. Second, the price wasn't clear the first time around. The owner kept saying "man hours," but I didn't get that this meant that each man was paid per hour. It ended up to be VERY expensive compared to other companies. Third, work is done hourly and so when the hour is up, it doesn't matter how much work is left to do. If any one hires this company, I would recommend getting a set price and not work by the hour. On a positive note, the owner is very knowledge of all the trees, shrubs and plants and could do an excellent job if your pocket is deep.
Description of Work: Landscaping (trimming bushes and small trees, pulling weeds, mulching, etc.)

+ -1 moreJonathon was punctual, showed up several times, on time, and did drawings along with someone else. They made recommendations. He met my wife at a nursery to look at plants and bushes. He seemed very knowledgeable about what plants would do better in certain locations, in shade or sun and being in the midwest. They did a nice job of landscaping. There have been 3 plants that have died that need to be replaced.
Description of Work: They put new landscaping in our yard. We started mostly from scratch.

They were also very professional and courteous. It seemed that they honestly cared about pleasing us, and we are very pleased.

Once the weather co-operated, it took approximately 6 days to complete the project from start to finish. They are a small crew, and Jonathan himself was on-site each day working on the install. They did a very good job, and were very good about cleaning up each day. We have received several compliments from the neighbors about how nice the patio looks, and we've been enjoying it since install was complete. We solicited quotes from 7 different landscape companies for this project, and Jonathan was one of the most affordable companies out there.
Description of Work: Installed a 340 square feet of Unilock paver patio, with three columns, three walls, steps, a bump out for our grill, and prewire for landscape lighting. Also installed a mulch bed around the patio and one bed on the inside of the patio for future plantings. Scope of the project included three design meetings, material (paver) selection, sod removal, grading, pouring concrete footers for the walls and steps, and clean up around the worksite each day.
