Very punctual and responsive on making the appointment and was able to do his inspection and talk with me on the phone while I was at work. Lewis was very thorough and offered his opinion on what I needed to take care of with my property. He gave an honest assessment of my roof, and I found out that it was not in as bad of shape as I had thought. It turns out that some minor maintenance will correct the problem and I did not need to employ Benchmark for repair work. I say that this was an honest assessment because he could have played up the damage or used "scare tactics" which seem to be common among some contractors these days. Instead I was given straight up answers to my questions. Based on the honesty and integrity displayed during this estimate I will definitely be contacting Benchmark Roofing in the future for repair and/or replacement of our roof. I would/will recommend them to a friend as well.
Description of Work: I requested a quote for some gutter and roof work. I was concenrend about the condition of the some of the wood that may have been impacted by a roof leak.

Barb RiceThey were very nice and curtious and perfessional. They went above and beyond what was required for them to do the job. They thought there was 1 layer shingles and ended up being 2 and didn't charge me extra for that. They even replaced rotted wood on house and garage they even replaced rotted wood on the side of the garage. The sales people were great and keep me inform about the whole process and came back to check on the job after it was done. I would recommend them to all my friends and family.

I just love working with Benchmark roofing. This is the third time I've used them. We recently discovered mold in our attic. I called an Angies List mold specialist. He said that the bathroom vents were not connected to the outside of the house. Therefore causing the vented air to accumulate in the attic. When I asked who would be able to fix this, he said a roofer. I called Benchmark on 5/31/12. They called back that day and Steve Brown came the next day. He stated the same as the mold specialist. Four bathroom vents needed to be vented to the outside. He explained that the vents would be on the roof at the back of the house. He gave me an estimated cost and said he would need to order the vents.. I signed a contract a week later and the vents were installed on 6/19/12. He arrived at the expected time. He also was the person who was in charge of installing my new roof two years ago and replaced my gutterguards at the back of my house about a year ago. Very pleased with their professionalism. Will use them again.

We first noticed a leak in our living room ceiling the day before Christmas eve. Benchmark was the only company who had someone willing to come out to fix it (in the rain at that!). All other companies were either unwilling or didn't have anyone available. My understanding is that this technician was actually coming back from a family holiday visit and drove over to take care of us. That's service! While doing the repair he inspected the roof for other damage and found enough to suggest an insurance claim. So, knowing our roof was damaged we put in an insurance claim and was approved for a re-roof, siding, and painting/repair of the damaged ceilings. They made sure that they didn't go over the cost of the insurance claim. Lot's of good help selecting siding and roofing materials, too. Each of those was handled marvelously. The roof was done in one day. The siding took longer, but that had a lot to do with weather interfering and it's a pretty big house. The ceiling painting was done in just a handful of hours. I figured all these major repairs were going to be a big disruption. The only thing I really needed to do was keep my driveway clear so the crews could put their trailers, materials and such on it. Otherwise, I didn't have to worry over a thing! Very pleased with both of my interactions with them and will call them in the future if needed.
Description of Work: Hail and wind damaged our house. We had a complete re-roof, residing and interior ceilings painting where roof leaked.

The scheduling was quick and painless. The production manager was in constant contact to schedule the roof, then the soffit and gutters, and finally the interior work. The crews that came out were quick, clean, and effiicient. I was impressed by the communication and the overall outcome of the job. I have referred Benchmark to many friends, family, and neighbors and will continue to do so!
Description of Work: We hired Benchmark to perform storm damage repairs after a freak storm hit our home (we seem to be the only house in our neighborhood with damage!). They were very responsive. A representative came out the same day and inspected the damage. They worked with our insurance company to determine the damages and costs associated. In the end, we got a new roof, gutters, gutter protection, some soffit, and interior repairs.

Overall, we're satisfied with the final product, but the process to get there was imperfect. We were replacing a metal roof on an old house with several peaks. We obtained 2 bids, and Benchmark was $10k less than the other bid. The sales process went well, as the salesmen were very professional and did an excellent job of explaining the product and price. They climbed up on the roof and measured everything. The job started well. The crew had to tear off an old metal roof, and a cedar shake roof underneath that, and lay out all the felt (and I think probably plywood too). They did all that in one day. Good thing too, as it started raining consistently for the next 10 days after that. We were happy to see that even without a roof, just felt, not a single leak. When they finally got to the roofing, they spent more days on the roof than even they anticipated, I know it wasn't an easy job, and it took probably 8 (non-consecutive) working days. They even came out on a Saturday once to work, and maybe a Sunday too, trying to wrap it up. We did have someone home all the time while they were working to keep an eye on things. The foreman was great, and made sure the guys cleaned up really well. (Although he was so busy working he didn't notice the slacker in the group, and we had to ask "How much are you paying the guy over there to take a nap in our hammock?") We bought and painted cedar for them to replace all the facia board while they were up there - they did "ok" at that. Definitely not carpenters, and we made them fix some pieces (which cost us money, because we had to buy replacement pieces when they didn't do it right the first time). As part of the original bid we also had them put up a few gutters for us - and that happened weeks after the roof was done. Weeks. Benchmark sent us a final bill and we told them we wouldn't pay them until the gutter work was done, and that finally prompted the gutter guy to come out. All in all, we started the bidding process in May, roof started in June, and all the work was complete early August. Very long process. Even with rain delays, it took too long. But we are happy with the finished product. The roof is great and so are the gutters.

To begin with, I contacted Benchmark Roofing several times by both e-mail and phone regarding this complaint, but I NEVER RECEIVED A REPLY! In the summer of 2010, Benchmark Roofing gave me a written estimate to replace the lower half of my roof for $5,046. Then, in the summer of 2011, Benchmark increased its estimate by $1,000 to $6,050. For the first estimate, Benchmark measured my roof by hand and for the second estimate they used the services of some other company. On 10/20/2011, I signed a contract with Benchmark to replace the lower half of the roof within 30 days for $6,050 and gave them my credit card number for payment. Benchmark then phoned me on 11/18/2011, claiming that it had mis-priced the job and refusing to do the work for less than $11,000 -- which was about twice the amount of their previous two estimates. Benchmark claimed that the company that had given them the measurements of my roof for the second estimate had made a mistake. However, this does not make sense because Benchmark had measured my roof by hand before giving me their first estimate and the first estimate was for much less money than the second estimate. In the FINE PRINT located on the back of Benchmark's contract, it states that I must pay Benchmark 25% of the contract price if I cancel the contract. But it says nothing about what Benchmark must pay to me if Benchmark cancels the contract. When I contacted Benchmark to complain that they had cancelled my contract without offering me anything in return, Benchmark ignored my e-mails and phone calls and refused to reply to me. I then had another company do the work for MUCH LESS THAN the $11,000 that Benchmark wanted. Based on my experiences, I recommend that NO ONE DO BUSINESS with Benchmark Roofing.

When Benchmark finally got around to doing the job, they seemed efficient and our garage was looking great. However, over 4 months later and it is still not completed. What they told us would be a "1-2 day job max" has turned into a frustrating experience. We are still getting the run-around and excuses for the dalay (shake up in management, forgot to order supplies, etc). Different people have called from Benchmark to say someone would be out to finish job and no one shows up! The one man who did show up said "I don't know why I am here, I do roofing" and he left. Glad we only payed 1/3 of total for the work so far because at this rate, we may have to hire another company to finish our garage. Called the corporate office this week and we haven't heard back. We are so frustrated. I would not recommend this company to anyone......okay, maybe if I didn't like them I would.

Strange experience! I called this company for an estimate for a new roof following a hailstorm. The hailstorm was 3/23/2011 but I didn't realize I needed a new roof until June when I saw a neighbor get a new roof (I have a tax business so I wasn't home 3/23/2011 when the hailstorm hit). This company was able to send out a representative 2 days after my call. Louis (I believe) arrived on time and, after noticing that I lived close to a roofing competitor) asked what I thought about THEM. I found that kind of strange and unprofessional! After a short conversation and giving me a packet of information that he didn't really want to go over, he went upon my roof. I think he was on the roof 5-10 minutes MAX. Then he prepared an estimate and gave it to me. I knew it was above what my insurance would pay and I noted such. He immediately took it back, said my roof was HARD TO MEASURE, and said he could re-figure because maybe he could knock off some waste, and lowered the price $800! I thought that was strange. First of all I have the EASIEST roof to measure EVER! It is a 1-story 1,100 ranch home with a 2-car garage. CANNOT GET ANY EASIER than THAT! If you think my roof is HARD TO MEASURE and it is easy how much confidence do I have in your ability to REPLACE MY ROOF! NOT MUCH! Also you didn't spend enough time measuring my roof! Yes, THIS company is on my Insurance Company Blue Ribbon Contractors but after my experience I will PAY MORE TO GET PROFESSIONALISM! Besides I do wonder what Quality you get when you hire a company that makes it money on QUANTITY not QUALITY? I have used Angie's List for over 15 years and have submitted over 195 reports. Most of the time companies with the highest number of reports in a category are a pretty safe bet to get Quality. You still have to 'go with your gut' as well. While I may pay more for a new roof than this company will charge me or more than my insurance company will pay for, I want I more professionalism than I experienced with Benchmark Roofing.

I had a very poor overall experience with company. The sales people were disrespectful and at times demeaning, to the point where I wanted no communication or contact with them by the end of the project. I feel like I was told what I wanted to hear at the beginning in order to win my business, but when it was all said and done I found on multiple cases that what I was told was not truly the case. Once we agreed upon the work i group of men showed up to my house, none of which spoke English, and began the work. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but when i come home from work to find water running into my house because they turned on a faucet and none of them can talk to me about how much water went in or ho long the hose had been on, it became a problem. Overall I feel as if i was taken advantage of when i agreed to allow them to work directly with my insurance company. My roof ended up costing about $3,000 more then any of the other quotes i received and when i ask them about it they attribute it all to higher cost of their materials. While the quality of work seems good, I would not recommend this company based on the overall experience. There are other companies out there that would have produced the same quality of work with none of the hassle I had with this company.
Description of Work: I had my roof torn off and replaced by this company, as well as some siding replaced.

We used them within the past year. It was due to wind damage so there was no fee to me. Their communication was excellent and they worked well with the insurance company. They were very timely. They worked quality wise expeditiously. There was a foreman or like a lead man that was excellent and communicated well with me. They did real good quality work. If there were any concerns they addressed them. I would highly recommend them. The price was appropriate and agreeable to my insurance company. They were really good.

We had our roof replaced last year with new gutter guards placed also. Recently had a squirrel decide it was a nice place for a home. The corners were accessible openings. I called Benchmark on Friday July 30th. They called back on Monday and send out the tech( Russell). He was wonderful. He saw what the problem was and agreed that the corners were indeed open for critters. Much to my surprise ,he informed me that they didn't have the contract anymore with that company. When I told him we just had them put on in June of last year, he called the office . They told him to replace all the gutter guards at no charge. Russell told me he would call within a week to get the job done. He called the next day and said he could do it Aug 2. The job was compeleted and the nest was found for the squirrel and a bird. Thanks so much Benchmark.

They were great. They suggested that we put a power fan in while they were here as well. That really helped during the summer! They found the problem with why there wasn't much tempeature difference between the attic & rest of the house. It was because our downstairs bathroom wasn't vented to the outside. We also lost our gutter during a storm and they replaced that.

It is several months since installation. Everything is fine. I will know this fall how well the gutter guards keep out leaves.
Description of Work: Benchmark replaced the roof on my former home in 2005. I called them for an estimate to install gutter guards on my new home in August 2010. Did not actually give them the go ahead until October. I paid 50% down when I selected them. Their quote was in the middle of three that I got. The first crew came out (subcontractors I believe) and requested a delay in the installation since they wanted to go deer hunting. I agreed then the weather turned cold so I delayed the installation because I had paid an extra $140 (I believe) to have the gutters cleaned prior to installation of gutter guards: (more on this later). Benchmark called back in early March and we settled on an installation date. This time I believe they used their own people. It took about three days because of weather to complete installation. The job appears to be okay. I have not climbed up on roof to inspect. We have not really had many hard rains yet so I cannot verify the integrity of the product. Now on to the gutter cleaning charge. I made the mistake of asking after I agreed to them doing the job, "Now this includes cleaning the gutters doesn't it?" Well, surprise surprise, gutter cleaning would cost me an extra $140. I guess they were going to install the gutter guards over dirty gutters which to my simple mind would defeat the purpose of having gutter guards in the first place. The moral of my sad tale on this issue is ask the question before you agree to use them. Otherwise I have been satisfied with them and the product so far.

We are finished dealing with Benchmark. They did not stand by their warrenty and claimed nothing wrong with roof.
Description of Work: Installed new roof - resulted in leaks !! Watch out for this company, they installed new roof on our house. Shortly after new roof we began getting water in our house. We called Benchmark and they said nothing wrong with roof, problem was our gutters were clogged, and as luck would have it they could clean and in stall gutter guards which would solve the problem, so we spent the money and installed GUTTER GUARDS. Still the water continued to come in our house we called Benchmark again, they said no problem with roof what we needed was NEW SIDING. We because suspicious of Benchmark and called a home inspector. They said our issue was the flashing on the roof was installed poorly. So after hiring another company to fix the poor qualify work Benchmark did and spend money on wall repair our leaks have stopped. Please get a second opinioin on Benchmark !!!

Shortly after moving into our house, rain began leaking into the house at the entrance to the sunroom addition. Because a new roof had been installed just prior to us moving in, we called the roofer to come out and identify the source of the leak. Despite calling 3 separate times, the roofer never addressed the leak. He came out and applied silicone caulk more than once and then one time claimed that the leak was coming in through the bedroom window above the sunroom. I called Benchmark Roofing and they explained that a type of flashing that should have been added when the new roof was installed was not in place and also stated that the silicone caulk was not appropriate for outdoor use. I scheduled the work with Benchmark immediately and the roof has not leaked since. I wish I had called them earlier and I will use them for any additional roofing work that comes up.

I found them on Angies List. I was going through the list in the Angies List monthly magazine and they were the only ones that were even willing to come out and look at the window. They proved that the problem with the window was a manufacturing defect and not an installation problem. They were very thorough in trying to figure out where the leak was and in making sure that it was not other things that were causing the window to leak. They identified the problem and gave us several options on how they would choose to fix it if the window manufacturer did not resolve the issue. They were honest and their options were very reasonable. They were very professional. They not as good at communicating as some other companies have been and it is sometimes difficult to get them to call back.
Description of Work: Benchmark Roofing helped us with a leak problem in a window.
