Melena Landscaping

The Melena crew did an excellent job. My flower beds and pool area look amazing. I think the pool area looks better now than it did when I bought the house ten years ago.

I sent a request for a quote. Next morning I had a phone call right away and a good discussion. They were very open and honest about costs, travel time, scheduling, etc. Since they are in Lebanon (which I didn't notice) it would be about 50 minutes for them to come to me. We are at the outskirts of their service area but I really appreciated them getting RIGHT back to me and discussing the situation openly. I have not ruled them out but will speak with some businesses which are closer first to see how prices compare to what Melena told me were some of the prices they knew even without looking at the job. To me, communication is King and they were very responsive and professional. This form required me to answer "would you hire again" yes or no. I put yes. If you haven't hired before you shouldn't have to answer this - or the answer should have an n/a option.

We have a landscaped front patio area that was flooding whenever it rained. Dan came over and looked it over and suggested a couple of buried french drain pipes to run the water down away from the landscaped area. They came and trenched the lines and put down gravel and the pipes and then covered the pipes with sod. The drains got their big test with the heavy rains the last couple of days and they worked as expected.

Dan Melena runs a great landscaping business. We have used him for several services including weekly mows, spring and fall cleanup and mulch. His prices tend to be a little high compared to other landscaping companies, but you get your money's worth from him and the guys working for him. We are highly satisfied with Melena Landscaping, thank you Dan!

He was so responsive and professional. He immediately returned my call and promised to respond with a quote the next day. He actually visited the property that afternoon and had a quote prepared sooner than promised. Unbeknownst to me, my realtor had already arranged for landscaping so I did not need his services after all but would gladly have hired him based upon his responsiveness and professionalism. So impressed.

It could not have gone smoother from scheduling to execution. The yard looks great and we've already gotten a number of compliments on the new fencing. We will definitely hire Dan and his crew again next year! They are professional and so easy to work with.

Dan came out a couple of times to help me figure out a plan for the yard. He was highly professional and personable. He worked with me on a budget for what I needed done. Offered great suggestions to make my budget work. The workers picked up after themselves and left the yard looking great!! I feel this company went above and beyond what I asked and the landscaping work totally exceeded my expectations! I will be calling this Dan Melena back in February to do my spring landscaping. A+ is what I would rate this company!

Dan was very helpful with suggestions and provided a sketch of what he proposed including the plantings so that we could have a good idea of the final appearance. The ground was leveled out very nicely and topsoil placed on the areas. They worked on the slope and planted the ground cover plants per the sketch. Dan picked up the stepping stones from Menards for us and placed them per our instructions. The area looks great and has a nice professional look to it.

It went great. The original estimate was $8400, we changed a few things and it lowered down to $8100 and it was worth every penny. They were here for approximately 4 1/2 days and now our yard looks amazing. We are so happy with it and so happy with Melena Landscaping. Dan is a great guy and his employees are extremely professional, kind, courteous and willing to stop and answer any questions we had. We are just so pleased with everything. They were right on time and finished on time. Dan was always available when I called him. He always answered my call. The flowers and the plants are already dying, and it has only been a week. They've had plenty of sun and water, and all of a sudden we've been seeing mushrooms pop up, which I've never seen before, in the entire 40 years we've been living in this house. When my husband had put in flowers in the past, they last well in October, and I don't even think these will last through the month. They're all practically dead already! It just seemed like they did the bare minimum and charged $2000, which I feel outrageous. I just feel like it should have looked much prettier and colorful. It mainly looks like overgrown grass and dying plants. After contacting them to complain, they seemed surprised that we were unhappy and haven't tried to fix it.

A solicited three bids for this job. All the bids were in the same ballpark but Dan's was the lowest. However, they could not schedule me for a while, so I initially went with a firm that was a little more expensive, but which stated they would get to the job sooner. When they failed to perform, I contacted Dan and got on his schedule. A few days prior to performing the job, Dan came by to inspect the site again and to spray the weeds in the flower beds. He noted that we had some large thistles and wanted to warn me that they were likely to return. We also discussed what to do with some ornamental grasses that we have in our yard to maintain privacy. We discussed some options and determined a plan of action. His team arrived promptly at the scheduled time and went right to work. They worked diligently throughout the day. I had to leave shortly after they began, but when I returned home I was very pleased with the job that they had done. The yard looked wonderful. They had done everything that they had promised and then some! I plan to use them again and would recommend them to anyone who asks.

Project went well from start to finish. Dan, the owner, returned my initial call the same day, and came to my home to see the scope of the project within a coupe of days. Within 1 week, he delivered the 1st design and quote for the project. After a couple of design changes, we scheduled a date to begin the project with the understanding that it needed to be completed by Memorial Day. Dan agreed to the timing but noted that it was tight. Two other landscapers that I called said up front that they could not meet that timing, and two others said they could. Of the 3 quotes, Dan's was in the middle. Work was completed ahead of deadline. Design is lovely; beds, plants, edging, soil prep all well done. Dan is a very nice young man and highly professional.

Went very well. I have gardens full of spring bulbs and emerging perennials and the Melena crew always works very well around all that. They clean up so well I wouldn't know they've been here except of course my yard looks terrific all mulched and cleaned up. Melena also did my parents' spring clean up this year and I have never seen such a great job pruning a Japanese maple. This is my third or fourth year with them and they do not fail to deliver each and every time. Highly recommend.

I called Melena Landscaping on 8/28 (Friday). He came the next day, Sat morning, to look at property. Very punctual, professional. We received a competitive bid the next day by email. He and his workers arrived on 9/14 to do the work and did an excellent job. He paid attention to details. A couple of days later he followed up with a phone call to make sure the work was done the way we wanted it. We will definitely use Melena Landscaping again!

The workmen were prompt and did a very neat clean job. I would recommend this outfit to all my friends.
