Services we offer
J Schmidt Homes LLC offers their clients an array of custom home building options. We are very familiar with the new home building process and are qualified to help you every step of the way. From architectural planning, real estate (our team of realtors are certified and licensed), and help finding financing solutions. We also provide remodeling services, specializing in kitchens and bathroom remodeling. We provide custom building services for commercial clients both national and regional.
We hired Jason Schmidt to build our home last fall/winter 2016. We interviewed several home builders and we decided Jason would be the best for the job. We were completely wrong to say the least. House is not complete and we are still fighting to finish. Our master shower did not work the first night we moved in and instead of sending someone over right away it was 3 days later when the plumber showed up. The concrete trucks washed out by our driveway and it's still there today. Our driveway was never finished due to poor estimating. Our basement floor is ruined as we told him in the beginning we were going to stain them, but the dry walkers did not lay any plastic or clothes down to catch the drywall mud. Now he's mad he has to clean it instead of just the regular damp mop. Not our fault. Our backyard was not graded properly. He was off on every estimate he gave us and now he wants us to pay him more money for overages. He does not plan on making things right therefore we will not be ending on a good note. Luckily my family is in real estate if things don't go correctly! There will be more reviews after mine making him look good as this has happened on other sites. Just warning you to beware of the work he does!

Great. This project was done two years ago and I am still happy with the outcome. Jason kept me abreast of schedule & budget regularly. When I made changes, he was flexible and able to adapt to my changes and keep to the schedule as best as possible. He is great at customer service, great at communicating, and the end result is a great, great kitchen. Two years later the quality and workmanship are stellar, no problems whatsoever, and we were able to keep to my original budget. I would recommend without hesitation.

Description of Work: We hired J Schmidt Homes for a kitchen remodel. After demolition, his workers would show up occasionally and only for a couple hours at the end of the day. After three weeks of feeling like we were an afterthought, after repeated promises broken, and on the eve of the deadline where he was supposed to be ready for the flooring guys to start he was nowhere near ready. I had to terminate the contract at which point he demanded an additional $900. In my opinion his guys had not been on-site enough to account for the full deposit, but it was less expensive than hiring lawyers. One thing he is very good at, blaming the customer for his lack of performance. BEWARE: His contract is completely one-sided. If you are he!! bent on using Jason, at least have your attorney go over the contract first! Better yet, find someone else.

His initial visit was ok at my house and he had been Referred by Ryan's Glass at the show ...(big No-no for Ryans it now seems as 2 vendors they shared were a Bust ; non-responsive and the other skyrocketed price suddenly.) Jason seemed very knowledgable and assured us he could do it for a reasonable price/ timely :__like shared before @ show. The next contact I had from him was the suddenly "$9000+"bid (that I was to also supply some materials.) ..............................(Plain Materials could have been Up to $2000-3000 alone). THAT COULD HAVE MADE IT "UP TO 300% or so MORE" than Jason led to believe (I have access to world renowned RS Means Construction data estimating systems.) (Your Library has that too SO USE IT!) I lost a lot of respect for Jason as I FEEL : all he had to do was say he was NOW busy and not look to try to "Win the Lottery" on us it appears.__(Maybe horseback-riding was more to his fancy at that time as he shared he has them: expensive hobby) The bottom line is find your own vendors via Angie's List; others can give names but INDEPENDENTLY verify them; (otherwise worst case it could be their cousin or friend even) DON'T HORSE AROUND WITH OUTFITS LIKE THIS! He wasted our time. I am a degreed engineer with several Masters degrees & years of construction experience,so is even more disconcerting to me as a professional to see this happen. It appears he is a also a Real Estate agent according to the web (if same name). IF So; what would you say if your rep. came back SEVERAL Thousand Higher? Your choice. GET a focused vendor that is optimally honest and forthcoming ..(without them having possible multiple distractions) ...........NOTE : to Angies List staff: List this per the co. website info. . so people can see this per real name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Description of Work: He looked at my detailed engineering dimensional sketch of some bathroom tile work in a shower renovation. As an engineer I know the exact square footage and in several days after meeting at the home & garden show he came out. He inspected the area and no scope changes as it was as I shared. At the show he had said he could do the tile work for less than $3000; suddenly his business must have picked up per a house project in Portsmouth, Ohio (he told me he was driving thru my place on the way there.) He said he also owns horses.
