Attic Experts Insulation

I live in an old tudor house with a lot of gables on the 4th and 3rd levels. I have 3rd floor rooms that needed insulation in the walls and ceiling. All the 2nd floor rooms had parts of their ceiling adjacent to uninsulated areas. It was a very complex job. They showed up on schedule. On day one, they came in and put up insulated vapor barrier on the studs adjacent to the outside walls and ceilings. They returned and blew in insulation in all the crawl spaces under the gables, and all the exposed walls and ceilings. Since I have a crawl space on the 4th level where an air conditioner is housed, I needed to put in additional cross beams that would provide 16 inches of space for insulation under the platform I had to construct so the A/C service people could access the unit. This took longer for me to build than I had estimated and it held them up. They were very accommodating and gave me an extra day to finish my work before they came back to complete the job. Joe and his team were very easy to deal with and even helped me move some items out of the way. They did a great job and cleaned up afterwards. It has been several months since they were here. I have noticed a significant difference when it has been cold or hot outside. We have had to adjust our thermostat because of the benefits from the insulation, I highly recommend them.

They came and gave a free estimate - great experience no pressure. Then I decided on what I wanted and the guys who came to do the job were wonderful. They were friendly and completely cleaned up after themselves. They told me what they were doing and what I would expect to hear. They offered to let me go up in the attic or to see pictures of what they had done.

JB came with his ladder and checked the attics. Taught me the ins and outs of how insulation will benefit my home and wallet. Had slide shows on his lap top, and a good presentation, and printed me out an estimate.

I was impressed with every person I worked with at Attic Experts. From the first phone call to talk with Brian, the owner, to Sid, who took measurements and explained pricing and the process, to Joe and Scott, who actually performed the work, the entire procedure was smooth. Customer service was a high priority for this company. Every individual I worked with was very personable, and I felt comfortable with having them in my home. The entire time took a little over 3 hours to complete. I had previously removed everything from the closet where the men would be working to save time. When the e-shield, Rafter Mates, and insulation were installed Joe and Scott cleaned up any mess they had made (which was minimal). Throughout the entire time the work was being completed, I was informed of what the men were doing. At the completion, I was invited to inspect their work. I would highly recommend The Attic Experts to anyone.

The repair team arrived on time after giving updates of their arrival due to challenging inclement weather. The evolution took about an hour after preps were made. We had cleared the attic out previously and therefore did not require them to assist in precleaning or staging items. They had a van with an adaptable hose applicator that did the job expeditiously. After finishing the attic, they checked on their previous preventive caulking project. No discrepancies were found but they were quick to make sure that they could be called back if things were not to my Mom's liking. My mother lives alone and does not easily "cotton" to strangers. However, Brian told me he particularly picked this team headed by JOE to put my Mom at ease. It worked. Unfortunately, the coldest blast of air on record came a few days after the team had left. The attic insulation held but the complementary patching needed updating. TRUE TO THEIR WORD, THEY CAME OUT AND PERFORMED MIRACLES iN DEFLECTING THAT COLD WIND. They worked 2.5 hours to finish. For someone miles away, that is the best feeling in knowing a warm house is being maintained DESPITE RECORD COLD. What is the take away? Good old fashion empathy and honesty is their M.O. I do not say that lightly. How many times do you hear of shoddy work and poor communications as the norm for business? The real kicker is that I had never personally met their boss or workers. Fantastic experience; from 1st consultation visit to the follow up phone call after the project was completed. Great communication, great customer service. I am a former engineer and currently the CEO of an organization in the service industry. (therefor, high maintenance) and I say without hesitation they they're phenomenal.

The workers arrived on time and explained what they were going to do. They began right away, and although it was one of the coldest days this winter, they continued relentlessly. They kept me posted on their progress all day. The job did take longer than I expected, but that was only due to the cold. All of the workers were courteous, professional, and determined to do the job right.

They did a great job. Actually what they do is very cool. They cut through 5 different compartments. They cut a new hole into the 4 different windows with one access. Then they filled it with 20 inches of slug insulation and then they covered everything, every part of the roof inside with thermo barrier. They also insulated most of my basement and crawl space. They did particular things like they also marked all the old knob and tube wiring with arrows so that the future workers can see what it was. They did such an excellent job and the end result is that the house is now warm. The guy who did the estimate did a great job of explaining everything very well, and on how the financing works. The guys who came and did stuff not only did a great job they explained everything very well as they went along, and answered all the questions. I did not use them to come back though I had them promise that they would also come back and reboot things if workers left anything out or the insulation got moved around. They did everything what they said and more. It was not cheap but their price was worth it.

The owner contacted me after seeing my original post. It has now been a year since I have used the services of this company. To date, my utility bills have not gone lower, in fact, I now pay more than ever for heating and cooling. I have tracked the usage for a year now and it has gone up. I have done nothing different in my home other than install their insulation. The thermostat is set the same and the HVAC system is the same. I shared this concern with the owner, Brian Hogg, who requested my electric bills only. These were provided. He put me in touch with BJ who said I did not give enough data. I provided everything asked for by Brian. BJ requested not only my electric usage again, but wanted my gas usage from Duke which is difficult to get. He not only wanted the data, but requested that I put it all on a spreadsheet and break it down from monthly data to daily data. He also requested data from 1 year prior to installation to the year past installation. In addition, he requested that I not only provide usage data, but dollar cost data which surprised me as my original point raised was that my usage had increased therefore my dollar cost was up. I emailed the owner saying that this was a ridiculous request because I have already proven that my usage is up. He answered saying that he had called Duke and gotten his data and was again requesting that I get this for him. It is obvious to me that these banterings about data have become nothing more than an attempt to put me off until I get tired of complaining about my increase in utility costs. Originally I was told that I would see about a $100 per month savings which I have not seen. In fact, the cost has increased. I am now pursuing my legal options in getting my money back or having the product removed. A complaint with the BBB is also been filed. My suggestion would be to NOT use this company as they are not standing by their savings estimate. I would have been happy with a savings of less than $100 but feel that an INCREASE is not tolerable.

All went well.....finished the job in good time and had me inspect the work before leaving to be sure I was happy with the results.

They did a great job. There was one minor problem. We had a luncheon to attend for the same day of the insulation appointment, he said he would call when they were on the way. Just as they were getting ready to leave, we arrived and everything was fine. They should be more aware of communication between owner and installers, but it worked out just fine.

The two gentlemen who came to do the work were excellent. They explained what they were doing and did everything in a timely and clean manner. Liked that the owner called the next day to make sure everything was up to my expectations. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing insulation.

The service was excellent. The crew called to tell us they would be 30 minutes late... this rarely happens in my experience and I appreciated the call. Joe and Allen were knowledgeable, friendly, efficient and professional They cleaned up after themselves and got the job done on time. Brian (owner) even followed up the next day with a phone call to make sure we were happy.... this is also usual in my experience. Great customer service all the way around!!!! We'd recommend Attic expert in the future.

Sid was on time and very professional. He did a thorough inspection explaining everything he was seeing. He knows what he is doing. I appreciated his honesty as he told me I have plenty of insulation and the one area I was concerned about he said was well insulated. He also checked the vents and said all was fine. He said insulating above the garage is a waste of money. I really appreciate professional and honest people!

They called the night before asking if it would be OK to come at 7AM so that they could finish earlier and avoid the high heat of an attic in the summer. I had no problem with that. They showed up on time, looked at the areas where the dams had occurred and also at the exterior of the roof, then inspected the actual attic area to verify they did everything correctly. While in the attic, they discovered a wasp nest. They not only killed the wasps but found where they were coming in and sealed that area. They installed additional air baffles, reattached existing ones that had fallen and insulated with wrap, air return pipes and vent openings. Once they were satisfied everything was prepped properly, they began blowing the insulation. The final install part included additional insulation installed on the trapdoor. Once they were done, they made sure all areas were clean including the garage area through which they had run their hose. Everything was left as it was before they arrived. Also, when they were showing me the area where the wasp nest was (on the outside rear of the house), they noticed a couple of roof shingles had blown off as well as a roof nail that was about to pop on the front of the house. As they were packing up to leave, Joe told me they do other work or sometimes act as a clearinghouse (for lack of a better name) for others. If they do not do the work themselves, they usually know someone they would recommend. I will definitely keep that in mind for any future work. I was very pleased with the work and would recommend them.

Like the vast majority of reviews posted here, our experience with Attic Experts was outstanding. They were on time, professional, interested in helping solve the issues and were very thorough. They communicated the issues, they provided recommendations and were able to complete the work on time and on budget. They were especially patient since I had a tremendous number of questions prior to the beginning of their work. They walked through the entire process, kept us abreast of what they were doing and what the intended results were going to be. They invited us to inspect their work during the process and at the completion of the job. They also left the house spotless! They took the time to clean up without being prompted! I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to reduce the cost of heating and cooling their house.

The guy who came to quote the price was so helpful in explaining everything about the job and various options. I learned a lot about how all that works, I had no idea. The two guys who came to do the job were very professional and friendly. They were also very helpful in explaining everything. I was lied to by another contractor re: the damage that was inside my attic. They could find no evidence of damage from mice. Their price was waaaayy under the price I was quoted from the other company and the materials were a much higher quality, not to mention the labor. These guys are so good. Am recommending them to all of my friends and family members.

Joe and Marty arrived on time. They were very personable and professional, and worked well together. They answered all our questions, finished quicker than expected and left our house cleaner than when they arrived. Excellent job!
