Description of Work: Refinished hardwood floors for entire first floor of 1950s house. |We moved into a hotel while the work was done. We had moved all furniture from first floor to the second floor, garage, or basement. The floor looked very nice on the initial walk through. The first twinge of disappointment came when we realized that they had turned on our whole-house fan and sucked the dust from the floor sanding process up through the second story, covering the living space and all of the stored belongings with a thick layer of dust. He did apologize but made no offer of assistance or compensation for the 12 hours my wife and I spent dusting and vacuuming every surface of that second story. We also discover later that there were several areas where the floor finish was very rough. It appeared that the floor had been walked on before all areas were completely dry. He did return to fix one area. In his defense, I was simply worn down by the process and did not call him to repair subsequent areas once we started moving furniture back into the house. It was not a horrible experience, but it certainly could have been better.

+ -1 moreWow... What a great experience. I was so happy to find Mike--he did an amazing job at a very reasonable, competitive price, and was such a pleasure to work with. I saw my friend's floor and asked her who put them in because they were so beautiful. She told me about Mike, and I was sold before I even met him. I did get estimates from two other companies--one was higher than him--ironically, the person that cost more than Mike had 7 years of experience whereas Mike has 23 years of experience. The other estimate was the same as Mike's, but the person seemed not as willing to do certain things I wanted (using an eco-friendly finish instead of the traditional polyurethane). Mike was really flexible even though I was kind of "high maintenance", wanting a mixed wood floor without two of the same woods touching each other and I wanted him to use a finish that he had never used before (Rubio Monocoat--a no-VOC hardwax oil finish that's popular in Europe since it's eco-friendly). He was so great--he always tried to make sure I was happy, even though I'm sure it was a pain for him! He also made his own transitional strips which were beautiful--I can't believe he made them. They curve nicely into the adjacent floor. He said that is something that he designed on his own. He is such a pleasant guy--really enjoyable to be around. As my husband said, "He's one in a million!" A true craftsman at a great price.
Description of Work: Removed baseboards and carpet and laminate and installed and finished unfinished mixed hardwood in entryway/hall, family room, powder room and two bedrooms (841 sq ft).

+ -1 moreDIDN'T SHOW FOR 2 APPT & DIDN'T RETURN CALLS. CAME AT 6AM WHEN I WAS IN SHOWER & BROKE IN THE HOUSE TO FINISH THE JOB. CAME IN THREW WINDOW. I CALLED POLICE THEY DID COME BUT I DIDN'T PRESS CHARGES. THEY DO GOOD WORK BUT TERRIBLE COMMUNICATION. KL
