one call hauling

Over-all it went OK. They were a self-professed start-up company and were offering their services over craigslist at a DEEP discount over more established companies. This fit our needs well as another mover moved 90% of the other items in the house to where the people moving out were going to live. I placed a call and described what items needed to be moved and to where, they quoted a price and agreed to show up at a specific time to load, transport, and unload the items. They did not ask for any details about size, weight, or the placement and layout of each location. (Volunteering this information did not cross my mind). The day of the move they arrived late and without their preferred equipment due to a flat tire. Though I missed the call, they did call in advance to let me know of the delay, and I was glad they had a backup option and I feel they did the best they could to still come and get the job done (it would have been a nightmare if they had bailed or asked to re-schedule to a different day). Upon arriving they got right to work, though they did complain about not knowing that the freezer was in the basement (and later, did not know it was going to a basement). The freezer would not fit through the door, but they figured out a way to take the door off the freezer and thus making it fit. During the process of loading, it began to rain, which increased the difficulty, but I was pleased to find out they had tarp available to protect the items during the move. They continued to load the items during the rain, and were ready to go in no time. Upon leaving the location, they acted surprised that there were two locations they needed to go (something I knew I had said before, but they agreed to do it anyways).When unloaded at location #1, they had to remove the fence latch to get the freezer in, but got it in quickly, along with the other items. They made it a point to not track dirt in or bump the walls (both things I was concerned about). They also worked around my dogs, which was a plus (they are friendly, but do bark at strangers). They placed the freezer and told me to wait 24 hours to start it (something I didn't know, and was glad they offered the information). One minor thing to note was they dropped part of the freezer door, and re-assembled it without it. They also forgot to re-attach the fence latch, but it was trivial to re-attach myself. Over-all I was pleased with the service we received. The price was unbeatable, without stooping to complete fly-by-night or an individual showing up to move item's in a car. They had decent equipment, were well prepared, and did whatever they could to get the job done. They were anxious to please, and were well mannered. I would hire them again, and recommend them for any small to medium size moves. My only concern would be to think ahead and provide any details you can think of (I would also challenge them when quoting to be sure they have everything they need).
