Just Basements

We purchased an older ranch house on the sheriff's auction with a finished basement. It had mold so we had everything removed except for the studs. Just Basements came in and refinished the basement. There had been a drop down ceiling with large florescent lights. The electrical was a mess with wires hanging everywhere. Joe had the electricians there for almost a week to clean it up and make sure everything was up to code. This was very reassuring. They also moved a few walls and added a room. The basement is about 1300 sq. ft. They did a great quality job. My only complaint is the communication. I am home during the day and would have liked to know what they were working on from week to week. However, this is minor. They did an awesome job and the workers were very professional and friendly.

Anybody that has been through a remodeling project knows that it is a very stressful time, dealing with Just Basements has made this process much more pleasurable and exciting everybody has been very professional and communicated with us throughout the process so there were no surprises , the workmanship is fantastic, tile work. counter tops, flooring, painting, all the hidden work electric, heating and plumbing, and the finishes are just what we wanted, they met all our expectations and more, was a pleasure working with Just Basements and all there staff.

It worked out great! He has great people working for him. He resurfaced my floors, waterproofed my walls, and he put a bathroom in the basement as well. He installed all new wiring and lighting. He also installed a heating unit with air as well. It looks great and I would definitely use him again.

We recently had Just Basements do some remodeling in our Florida room. They replace six sliding glass doors and repainted interior walls and ceiling. We were satisfied with the work done and both crews cleaned up after their projects. The workers were courteous and respectful. We would use them again.

Well, I am happy with the final results.

I used Rob and Just Basements to remodel a home I recently purchased. I've used Just Basements before on other projects and I have always been more than satisfied with their quality of work. Choosing them again was an easy decision and as before they did a great job. The staff is on time and well mannered. I've never had any concerns letting them in to my home. Whenever a question arises I've been happy with the access and communication with the owner Rob. He's eager to make sure the project comes out right and on budget.

I told Rob Adams that money was tight and gave him a budget to work with before we went through the house. As we went through the house, he helped me to understand where to put my money and why to put it there, how to make the place enticing for renters and how to do things that would last using inexpensive materials. He is a bigger tight-wad than I am....which is tough. We decided to do some things more using more moderately priced materials (carpeting & kitchen floor vinyl) and some things upscale (countertops in kitchen, stainless appliances and upgraded cabinetry in the bath.) Just Basements got the job done on time (no thanks to the Lancaster Code Enforcement folks) and actually slightly BELOW budget. I didn't recognize the place when he was done. The small house (about 700 SQF) went from what I could only describe as a hopelessly outdated and somewhat trashed house to a very livable, nicely appointed and comfortable home for a couple. I have high standards and have not rented for decades but I WOULD LIVE THERE, which is saying a lot. Rob has vision...he can see opportunities and hazards that I could not, so his creativity was much appreciated. The work was amazing and Rob was a joy to work with. A more honest, hardworking, straight-talking and devoted contractor would be hard to find. Thank you Just Basements...you made my day and my year!

Old front door on my rental house needed to be replaced. Unfortunately, the house is brick and the door frame was built into the brick....the reason that this was a problem is because I could not find a new door at any of the standard places (Home Depot, Lowes) and had to have one custom-made by Capital City Millworks (cost just over $500.) Just Basements (Rob Adams) sent out a guy in the dead of winter to plane the door and get it installed quickly and efficiently...and for a fair price. I felt bad for the carpenter because it was so cold working outside but he did a great job and my renters are very happy. This is a good company and I will use them whenever I need something done...barring the unexpected (or even dealing with the unexpected...like having to plane and fit a custom door), they got the job done quickly and with excellent results for a fair price.

Quality work. Small mistakes made along the way that were promptly fixed without question or hassle. Easy to work with and flexible. I would use Just Basements again & recommend them to others.

Truthfully, we would go with a different contractor if we were to do it again. If you are looking for a contractor I would suggest going with one that does not use sub contractors. This is for two reasons. One, it takes a whole lot longer when subs are used.. We were told our job would take 11 weeks. It ended up taking 19 weeks with a ton of down time. There was one month where work was only done 4 days of the month. A contractor with a crew needs to keep that crew busy, but if they are using subs it doesn't matter as much if there is downtime between subcontractors. The second reason I would suggest not using a business like Just Basements that only uses subcontractors is that there is a wide range in quality of the subs. The carpenter and electrician did excellent work. However, the painter not so much. Our AV person and window treatment person both made comments about the poor paint job The worst subcontractor was the HVAC contractor (American Air). They did a horrible job. Our HVAC system prior to the work had a board allowing for 4 zones. Two zones were used, one on the first floor and one on the second floor. They should have made the basement a third zone. Instead whenever the AC or heat goes on for the first or second floor it also goes to the basement. It is horribly inefficient and had resulted in our electrical bills doubling. Yikes! It is also uncomfortably cold in the summer in our basement. If you finish your basement get a plan for the HVAC system and run it by the person who normally services your HVAC system. When Buckeye Heating and Cooling looked at they way our basement was installed they were not impressed. There is only one air return which is located in a narrow hallway only inches from the furnace. I think that was the cheapest place to install it, but we should have had three or four air returns. The other major problem we had with Just Basements is that they email a picture of what our NatraStone egress window would look like during the bid process. It turned out they sent a picture of a much more premium window. We were very sorely disappointed with the window that was actually installed. I would not use Just Basements if you would like an egress window. I do not think that is something they are very familiar with.

The guys did amazing work. Absolutely beautiful. My only gripe was that we were quoted a 6-8 week project. The began mid October... but didn't finish until end of February. That was a bit tedious. Owner was a bit slow to reply to emails/phone calls as well. Otherwise, fantastic

They did really extensive work and did an amazing job. It took about six months altogether, but they did a very good job for our waterworks. Our neighborhood has a lot of older houses that have a kind of like a low basement, and ours was unfinished, and won't do with semi-finished and not in very good shape, and doing any work in the basement actually required us to go through an extensive permitting process and almost no contractors were willing to actually do that, and Rob actually went through the permitting process, helped us through the variance appeal and all that and then did excellent work. Most of the work, he managed a lot of subcontractors and chose people who were very good and did great work, and his in-house people did a really good job, especially with woodworking details. So, our ceiling ended up being a little bit high. He added some height to it by putting a drywall ceiling and he actually did some molding all around to cover the gap which wasn't even part of the contract, and he didn't charge for. He did an amazing job with the details. He was also able to reuse some materials in creative ways, but he just did excellent work. Everything passed a permitting process, and we had to get like four separate permits for plumbing, electric and the whole thing. They did really excellent works. Doing your basement is a pretty big job and he just managed it.

I’ve seen them from Angie’s List. I called them and I’ve run all the reviews. They came right away. They were very, very prompt. They were very, very professional so that’s why I had them come back for a couple of times to submit the estimates.

They were great. It was more expensive than we had hoped for, but we got our money's worth. We live in a neighborhood with old houses and where every step of a project seems to need some extra inspection or variance, but they took care of everything and made minor adjustments as needed without charging us extra.

So far Just Basements have been the most responsive. They turnaround my questions very quickly. They are one of four companies that I culled from Angie's List that I requested a proposal from. We have made a few changes to our original idea as we have talked to all four. Once we get all four proposals we will make our decision.

Bob came out and did prelimary measurements etc. on the job. Bob is a great dude, super sharp, doesn't hard sell, just talks and tries to solve your problem. Rob designed and bid the job. Every detail was well thought out. He does great work. Bob proposed it to me, then answered our questions and followed up as necessary. Then Joe, the General Contractor, took over and made the job happen. All 3 men are excellent. The finished product looks amazing. It adds a whole new dimension to our house. They built unquestionably the best-looking rooms in our house, and we don't even have the furniture yet! They were extremely professional and were respectful of our nanny and kids. They worked with me and my wife to make sure we got what we wanted on every aspect of the project. Except for a few week delay from the carpenter, who wound up doing an amazing job once he made it in, they were pretty much on time. They use subs who are great at their job but sometimes no-show or show up late (varying reasons), so on a larger project this can cause delays, but Joe works to make up time when he can. We told them we were flexible, and they were super flexible with us, too. So not a big deal. I would hire them to redo my entire house, but they try to focus on "just basements" as much as possible. If you are thinking of finishing your basement, you should do EXACTLY what I did: 1. Hire Rogers Basement Waterproofing to waterproof it first (Just Basements does not do that work I don't think) 2. Hire Just Basements to finish it.

Fair and honest on the estimate. I would recommend.

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely loved this company!! Just basements were amazing from start to finish, we wanted a seamless process and that is exactly what we got!. The initial visit started with Bob coming to our home to measure and sketch out an overview of the basement, within 2 weeks Rob got back to us with the estimate. Our basement was around 325 sqft but it is kind of a unique floorplan so we really need the extra help guiding us thru the process. The project took around 7 weeks and they cleaned up every step of the way which meant a lot to us because I still needed to utilize part of the basement to do laundry. Rob was very efficient with getting back to me right away if I need any additional explanations or had questions. I realize that we were a small job for them but it never felt that way and that is what is important. Bob and Rob were great and I would highly recommend this company!

They were excellent. They were clean and quick. They gave a great quality of work with wonderful design ideas.

They were okay and I didn't have any problem with them, but their estimate was higher than the other one I got. Their estimate wasn't expensive or bad or anything, but I just got one lower from somebody I knew who didn't charge me as much as he would've charged somebody else. They didn't do anything wrong and were great, it was just too high. They did fine.

Robert Gildner came out and looked at our basement for an estimate. He had some great ideas, was a great guy and did a wonderful plan for the remodel. Rob Adams then sent the bid. He was by far the MOST DETAILED and most responsive of all the companies that sent estimates for the remodel. His price was more than we want to pay at the moment, but he offered a detailed list of prices for us to do some things ourselves or back out certain aspects of the remodel to lower the price. He also worked to link us with some financing options. He was always responsive, kind, and professional. Perhaps in the future we will use him for the remodel--for now we have put it on hold.

The team was very professional and punctual, the quote price was very reasonable and in line with most other quotes that we received (not the most expensive or the cheapest). We were very impressed, but in the end decided to go with a different company. I would not hesitate to recommend them for consideration for anyone's basement based on our experience.

The consultant that they sent out for the initial quotation or to take the measurements and everything he was wonderful. I chose not to go with them because the owner who got the quote together he didn't really, I didn't feel he really took the time to contact me and go over it in detail. So the gentlemen of the company that I went with came out, that owner came out and sat down with me and explained the whole quote. I felt like their quality was better. I think the other one was okay, but I just liked the other people better.

They were great. They were on time. They did a fabulous job. I have no complaints about them. They were great. The staff were good and friendly.

Their quality of work is top notch and they had been exceptional.
