He was very detailed with his pictures and report. I asked a lot of questions he was able to explain everything and did not seem annoyed at all. He was very personable and relatable. I would hire him again and recommend him to anyone looking for a good home inspector.

I hired Merwyn Bowdish via AngiesList. I had spoken with and gotten quotes by numerous other home inspectors prior to choosing Mr. Bowdish. Everyone was about 200+ higher than his quote was for my home. He had a VERY competitve price, which made me weary but his reviews online were flawless, so I chose to hire him and this was a very wise decision. Mr. Bowdish arrived about 10-15 minutes before our arranged time and was ready to go upon my arrival. He spent about six (6) hours in my newly purchased home scouring it with a fine-toothed comb to find any and everything that could be wrong to let me know. He was VERY informative, very professional, and wanted to have me included in the inspection process so I was aware of anything found and everything that was in good order. I leared an immense amount about the home I purchased through him and his experience and couldn't have been happier with my choice to utilize his services. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone to him and will be sure to refer him to anyone that asks me if I know a home inspector. In my line of work, I work with profesional inspectors regularly on a business level and his level of professionalism, expertise and knowledge was spectacular. Very good experience, Mr. Bowdish was there early and ready to get started. He explained what he was going to do and very eager to hear and feedback we had as we went forward. He was very through and paid attention to a lot of things that we would have not noticed as being problems. The inspection took longer than he had thought it would and he wasn't going to have as much time to process the report for us, but he was able to get the report back to us in the time frame he had given us. When I arrived at the property that Merwyn was going to inspect, I showed up 15 minutes early and Merwyn was already there looking over the outside of the home and had already opened up the residence and took a look inside. Merwyn introduced himself to us and described exactly where he was going to start on the inspection of the home and outside property. Me and my fiancé were very impressed with his professionalism. He went around the entire outside of the home looked under the decking and porches and photographed everything that he inspected. Merwyn also brought all of his own equipment to do the inspection. Ladders, tool belt with tools and the proper equipment to test the home for any shorts in the outlets as well as inspecting the attic space of the home and the outside roof. During the entire process Merwyn explained in detail about any potential problems that may arise from any of the structural to any of the interior appliances and existing foundation. Merwyn went above and beyond what we expected. Merwyn was very thorough and reported everything as he went through the entire inside and outside of the home. He even inspected our detached workshop/garage area and took his time checking everything that was staying in the workshop. Electrical, heating, plumbing. He did everything that he said he was going to do and took no shortcuts during the entire process. The report that was submitted came with photos, details of what was done as well as disclosures of possible fixes that may need to be done in the near future. Merwyn emailed us the reports as well as our relator. Our relator even commented on how detailed the report(s) were. Me and my fiancé would highly recommend Merwyn Bowdish to friends, family and to the Angie's list family.

He was great. There was a room he couldn't get access to and came the following day to finish off his job.. Amazing... He report was very thorough... He went in between tight spaces to detect mold, leakage and some termite activity...

We recently hired HIS of Lancaster to do a full home inspection on a home before we agreed to purchase it. Merwyn Bowdish, the owner, responded and scheduled this quickly. Everything was done very professionally. He emailed us details about the upcoming inspection so we would be prepared, including a video link explaining his services. Also attached was an agreement which could be filled out online, or could be printed out and given to him the day of inspection. This included info about his responsibilities, and the costs involved. The inspection takes between 3-4 hours. When he arrived, he was very friendly, and very thorough. The homeowner, and my husband stayed with him and observed a lot of what he did during the inspection, and he willingly answered any questions in regard to what he was looking at. There were very few issues found with this home, but even with the home being only 6 years old, there were a couple of things that he found that would be in our best interest to correct. (an outlet wired backwards, one needed a gfci, a downspout needing a drain attached, etc.) He climbed onto the roof, went into the attic, the garages, the basement, and checked everything you can imagine, and took pictures as he went. He verbally shared and pointed out what he found, and then the next morning we received another email with a detailed report of everything he checked, including pictures with arrows pointing to the things of concern. We also preferred to know if the water is safe since this home has well water, and since this is not part of his inspection process, he knew who to call to have this done, and he scheduled someone to come to do a thorough water test/analysis for us. We would definitely recommend him, and appreciated the professionalism, and detailed reports we received. Not only appreciated the thorough inspection, but my husband also enjoyed swapping stories with him and the homeowner as the day went along. Friendly professionalism. We would not hesitate to call him again.

Merwyn was great! We have used other home inspectors for other homes in the past but we feel Merwyn was the best. He was very responsive from the initial contact throughout the entire process,. He was very prompt and got started right away. He inspected every square foot with me tagging along most of the time . He pointed out problem areas or potential problems with suggestions on possible solutions. He actually emailed the final report complete with photos the same evening as the inspection! He even offered to copy the listing Realtor so they could see his findings. He is a very pleasant and knowledgeable man that we highly recommend!

Merwyn was very thorough and professional both on the phone and with the delivery of his inspection.. He made me feel that he really took pride in the work he was doing. Merwyn explained everything in detail and in a very professional manner without interjecting any opinions only the facts as he saw them. I would highly recommend him to friends and family.

Merwyn get's an A+++ He showed up when he was supposed to was very punctual. He even loaned me $20 when I misplaced my wallet and was going to run out of gas. Great guy!

He was punctual (I was early and he beat me). He worked in an efficient and thorough manner. He knows how to work with people, has excellent communication skills and took the time to explain all facets of the inspection report. He even cleaned up after some contractors who tracked mud all over the house as they gave quotes on work that needed to be done. He is honest, responds quickly, is complete and takes his responsibility seriously. I would highly recommend him as an inspector.

The inspector was very thorough and covered literally everything inside and outside the property. Even though I am purchasing a condo and the outside is not my responsibility, the information provided will help me know what to look for and give accurate info to the HOA. The inspector even met with me on a Sunday due to my work schedule. He was prompt, courteous and very responsive to my pre-inspection questions.
