Berry's Plumbing & Heating, Inc

I requested Berry's Plumbing to come out and flush my hot water tank which was 5 years old. They did and told me there was so much sediment in it that I needed a new tank. I bought a new tank and they installed it. They also sold me their $380 "Diamond Club" package which included a once-a-year flushing of the tank, inspection of all my drains, toilets, faucets, etc. and told me that they would contact me when it was time to do that. I had the tank installed on 11/26/2010. On 1/4/2012 I called them about flushing the tank and asking them to check a slow-running drain. The woman answered the phone"Hello?" which told me that was not a good sign for a business to be answering the phone that way and she proceeded to take down my information which I knew she was not actually doing it because she asked me name, address, phone number and immediately asked for the next set of information, not leaving herself time to actually write it down. She said she would have someone get back to me. I called again on 1/10/2012 and did not get an answer, just left a message. I never heard from them. On 3/3/2012 I contacted the Better Business Bureau. They contacted Berry's Plumbing twice and got no response. I have since found out that they have gone out of business which is lucky for any of you reading this review and looking for a plumber. There was no information on Angie's List when I hired this company but have since found other reviews from customers rating them with D's and F's. I just had a plumber come out to flush my hot water tank on 7/23/2013 and he told me it did not need flushed; he had a hot water tank for 11 years and never had any problems and told me I never should have been told that I needed a new hot water tank. There went $917 for no good reason and $380 for a good faith contract that they would come to my home once a year for 5 years and check all my plumbing. They lied and scammed me.

I would not hire this company - they tell you they will come on a certain day and time - never show - the work is "iffy" - one can only hope when the water is turned on and the heating system is turned on - it will work.

Based on running a camera down our sewer line, the guys from Berry's said that the line had partially collapsed and would need to be replaced (for $2300). To get another estimate I had another plumber come out. He snaked the line and discovered that the line had not collapsed and did not even have a blockage where Berry's said it was blocked. There was a blockage with tree roots out by the street. Had we listened to Berry's, we would have spent $2300 and torn up the front yard and would not even have fixed the problem. I'm not sure if they were dishonest or incompetent, but either way I would strongly advise people to avoid them.
