Ron is great. Very personable and knowledgeable of masonry. He is a smaller outfit, but with big contractor results. Price was on par with other estimates I received. Took the time to make sure everything was done correctly and offered tips on what to look out for. I will have him back out in the future for other masonry jobs. I highly recommend!

Ron was very professional and did everything by the book. He took the time to answer our questions and explained things very well. The only negative part of the experience was the absurd amount of dust that was generated when cutting out the old block from inside the basement. Part of that is just the nature of the job, but a system to help contain the dust from the saw or fans that can mount in the basement windows would be a welcome investment. Aside from that, the experience was excellent and we have received many compliments from other tradesmen on our masonry work. We plan to use Ron for our future masonry needs.
Description of Work: After demolition on an old brick and slab porch, we needed extensive brick repair and new facade on the now exposed wall. We ended up shoring up the floor joists and rebuilding three layers of the foundation wall to replace 8 inch cement block with 4 inch block and a brick layer. Ron went out of his way to find brick that matched our 1940s ranch (which was a slightly different size than the current standard for bricks). He even bought enough extra so we have some for some other repairs we are planning down the road, as this size and color brick is apparently very hard to find.

After many ridiculous and frustrating interactions with other providers, some of whom are highly rated here on Angie's List, I phoned this provider very late on a Friday afternoon, hoping that perhaps I'd get a call-back anytime in the following week or the week after, if I were lucky. I left a phone message with my contact info, a very brief description of the problem which was a leaking chimney and wet interior walls, and my general location (Cleveland Heights). To my astonishment, less than 90 minutes later, I got a call back from the owner of R.G. Masonry, Ron George at around 5:30pm ON A FRIDAY. He was very nice and easy to talk to, but unfortunately he had called to let me know that he does not service my area. I was disappointed to hear this since he had rave reviews here on Angie's List and the testimonials on his own website included some from Cleveland customers. However, just the fact that he had bothered to phone me back, and in such a timely manner, knowing there was no job in it for him, was extremely professional and very impressive to me. Then, even though he had no intention of doing any work for me, instead of immediately hanging up the phone, Mr. George began asking me questions about my chimney problem. He spent time talking to me about the various components of a chimney structure and where the problems could possibly lie. He gave me his best diagnosis of my problem based on his experience, told me what the normal fix for that would be, and he even gave me tips and advice on what to look for and expect when contracting with another provider to fix the problem. This was all initiated by him with zero prompting from me and lasted close to twenty minutes. I was stunned at his willingness to discuss my problem with me and try to help me as best he could even though I would ultimately be someone else's customer. Now an entire 8 weeks later, I still have had no luck finding a responsive and responsible person to repair my chimney. I so wish Mr. George would agree to travel from Lakewood to Cleveland Heights to perform the work. Just from our discussion on the phone, it was really abundantly obvious to me that he is a vastly knowledgeable and experienced professional. And obviously kind to boot! Although he performed no work for me, I really wanted to write this review to thank and commend Ron George for his remarkably quick response time, the time he spent speaking with me on the phone even though there was no profit in it for him, and his generous & valuable advice. If only every business were run this way, no doubt we'd all be a lot happier as consumers. ...I would absolutely recommend this wonderful gentleman to anyone. Seriously, if this is the way he's willing to treat a non-customer, just imagine the spectacular service you'd receive if you were lucky enough to reside in his service area and were actually paying him for a job. Thank you, Mr. George!!

He knew last year I needed repair and also suspected I did not have a footer. My steps were cracking and the cement between the bricks were cracking also. I asked him last year, when he was repairing some bricks at the back of my house, to do the work this spring and he set me up as his first job of the season. He arrived every morning at 7:15 a.m. and worked through to approximately 5:00 p.m. until the job was done. My dog required some attention periodically and he was very gracious in that matter. (They became good friends.) I noticed him leveling all the way through and he got rid of some holes I had in my walk way also. They look beautiful and the cement in between the bricks matches the rest of the brickwork on the house. I have an older home so I am definitely keeping his contact info at hand because it WILL BE HIM I call for brickwork!
Description of Work: Replaced front steps which also involved providing a footer which did not exist.

While rebuilding our porch, Ron discovered there really was a problem. The original stone on the front of the house had been installed after the porch was built. So if he removed the porch, the stone on the front of the house could have fallen off. Luckily Ron is a very experienced mason. He came up with a work around, got it approved by the city and we have a front porch that will probably outlast the house. He was able to match the original brick and did a very nice job in cleaning up. Overall it was a great job. We are very pleased with the outcome.
Description of Work: We had Ron rebuild our front porch. It was originally planned as a complete tear off and rebuild. When he quoted us the job, he warned there could be a problem with the way it was originally installed.

I called him 8/25/2015 and told him that I had brick with no concrete between them on 2 sides of my house. He was very busy and said he would stop by the first chance he got to evaluate it. He arrived on 8/28/2015 and viewed the problem. He was hoping to schedule for the spring, but when he saw it he said "Busy or not, this can't go through the winter like this." He said he would fit me in the first chance he had. 10/20/2015 he called to schedule for 10/21/2015 but I was out of town. He called again on 10/21/2015 and scheduled for 10/22/2015 at 8:00 a.m. He arrived on time, layed tarps down to protect my yard and got to work. What I thought was going to be--slap some concrete between those bricks, turned out to be a tear out of all compromised bricks and a wall rebuild in three separate areas. (He saw a bow in part of a wall and rebuilt that too.) He matched the whole back of the house with a new concrete coating so it all looks uniform. I have already set up an appointment for next spring to rebuild my front steps. I highly recommend him. He is very busy so you have to plan ahead to get him. I'm sure he doesn't want another me in emergency status!! But if an emergency arises, he will do his best to help you. He is very neat during his work and makes sure his cleanup leaves the yard as he found it. Kay

The demolishing of the steps took about 2-3 days. The rebuilt steps took slightly under a month due to the back log from where Ronald purchases the sandstone. To ensure a proper fit the top platform was custom measured after the risers and tread were in place. The steps turned out beautifully. The A/C was removed and bricked up in a day. The A/C was a large unit. Ronald and David did a excellent job in removing the unit without causing any damage on the inside of the house. Ronald did such a great job re-bricking the exposed area you can barely tell the A/C was ever there to begin with. Ronald and David take great pride in their work and the end results show it.
Description of Work: Replaced front steps and platform. Removed an A/C unit that was built into the house and filled in with brick. Tuck pointed house as needed.

That meant they had to do a whole new footer and had to dig up 4 feet to do so. They did a lot of ornamental stone work for me as well. The work took a total of 6 days to finish. I had him redo my chimney last year and when I was running into issue and asked for him to post pond the stoop for a year he was very understanding and accommodation. He was very kind when I had them

Removal of porch steps, or remnants thereof, excavation down to footer, poured new footer with rebar to current code, new supporting concrete blocks, rebuilt all steps with new footpads, added center support, replaced some brickwork on porch as necessary. The work looks great. Colors all match up well. It will probably outlast the house! Ron is a professional, very punctual. Ron had done some tuck pointing for me in the past. I found him to be reasonable and he told me what not to be concerned about and also what might come up in the future...he didn't try to sell me on something I didn't need. For this project, the work took about 9 days only due to the fact that we had very rainy weather and he had to schedule around the weather. This was a smaller job for him so he was able to get to it early...he books up quickly. I would recommend him.
Description of Work: Total rebuild of front porch steps and some brick replacement on parts of porch. Two concrete foot pads cracked/split in two, supporting brickwork also cracked, very thin footer, pretty well deteriorated, no center support for the steps, not safe.

I received a call back within a couple hours of leaving a message. I explained the scope of work and my timeline. The contractor was very honest about his current work load and advised he would not be able fit me in before the end of the season. He referred me to another contractor that would be able to do a quality job. Even though he didn't do any work for me this time around he will definitely be my first call next time I need masonry work. RG was very responsive, completely honest, and very professional. I just wish he had the time to fit me in his work schedule.

I was extremely happy with Ron and the work he did for me. The entire process took a little over a week and included demolishing the porch, pouring footers and rebuilding the brick and sandstone porch. He was able to match the brick and mortar so closely to the brick foundation on my house that the porch looks original to the house. He was meticulous about cleaning up every night, put caution tape around the area, stacked supplies neatly in the driveway and even talked to my mail carrier and arranged a temporary "mailbox". I believe Ron is one of those people who takes great pride in his work and believes quality is of the utmost importance. His employee, Gabe, who worked with him on my porch, told me that he loves his job and that they do quality work that will stand the test of time. The fact that his employee is so happy says a lot about Ron. Ron was also very responsive anytime I left him a voicemail before and during the process. He always returned the calls promptly. He is a true professional and I would highly recommend his work.

I called R G MASONRY to get an estimate Ron came out two days latter and showed me why my chimney needed rebuilt and not just tuck pointed. There was not any sales pressure just left the estimate and said to call him if we decided to have him do the work. After getting a second estimate which was lower I decided to go with R G MAONRY. The reason I went with Ron was he did not just rebuild what was visible but down bellow the roof line which requires the chimney to have its flashing removed and replaced. The cheaper estimate only rebuilt the chimney from flashing up. Ron did an excellent job matching the new chimney brick with my brick home, he is respect full of your landscape all old bricks and mortar are put in buckets and lowered down, other than having a new chimney you would never know he was there.

Ron returned my call within the hour and met me that very evening for an estimate. This was a smaller job and Ron said he was booked for the next 3 weeks but since it was an indoor job he would work me in on a rain day. He easily could have not returned my phone calls or just said he was too busy for this smaller job but still tried to work with me. When he saw the job, he said that he could easily do it but also counseled me on how to do the job myself if I wanted. He knew I was somewhat handy and spent 20 minutes showing me how to trowel the grout and what techniques to use. Though I ended up doing the job myself, Ron's honesty and punctuality will keep up coming back the next time we have any type of masonry job. I highly recommend R G Masonry.

Angies List you have a winner in Ron George. I called R G Masonry and left a message that I needed an estimate on having the bricks on my front porch repointed. Ron called back the same day and we made an appointment for Tuesday 8/12/14 between 6 and 8 PM. Ron arrived at 6:15. He then began to show us that repointing was not the solution. He pointed out all issues with the porch...it was last repointed with very hard mortar and it caused moisture to be trapped against the softer older mortar causing the breakdown. He also showed us how the porch was setteling causing the crack in the porch pad and the front of the porch to bow out. He gave us several different options that could be done but not by him. He said we needed a company with a crew to be able to fix the issues correctly. He could have given us an estimate, done a great job on the repointing and gone on his merry way but did not and I believe he could not because that is the type of person and business man he is. He is a credit to his trade and a fine example of what an honest and sincere man should be. Thanks Ron ! Greatfully submitted, Robert Kaiser Fairview Park, Ohio
