John & Scott cut down a large, dead tree, located right next to a deck and close to the house. They worked very hard to get it down, remove the wood and clean up before an event I was hosting, and did so within a tight time frame. Very professional, they were concerned with the safety of others in the area working. There were NO holes or ruts left in the lawn from the large felled branches, nor any other damage. Earlier in the summer, John pruned branches from another tree, and left it looking great - not hack-jobbed like so many other tree trimming companies. He seems very knowledgeable about trees, how they grow and the problems affecting each kind.
Description of Work: Felled a large tree and pruned another, smaller tree.

He weeded our flower beds. They had been neglected for 5 or 6 years before we moved in. He removed all weeds and posion ivy, and got it looking great! He was very professional, and gave us a great price. He spent around 40 hours on the whole project, and gave us a great price. He said that he did not realize what he was getting into when he quoted the price, and would have given us a higher quote if he had known how long it would take, but he never charges more than 10% more than his original quote. He also does regular lawn maintenance during the summer, and snow blowing in the winter.

I left Mr. Palmer a message and he returned by call with a text message a couple days later. It took another day or 2 to confirm a time for him to come out to my house. He told me that a consultation would be $40. He arrived on time and was friendly and polite. He examined the tree and took pictures because he wasn't sure what had caused the damage and wanted to research it further. He did say that the insect damage appeared to have happened in the spring during a larva phase and the tree was healing and growing healthy new leaves. He also discussed pruning options with me for that tree and another. Overall he was at my home for about 20-30 minutes. He said he would call within the week with more information about my tree and that we could schedule a pruning appointment at that time. I paid him $40 for the consultation. I didn't hear from him after a week so I sent a text (since he seemed to prefer to communicate that way) and after a day or so he returned my text saying he still hadn't figured out what insect had damaged my tree and that he was really busy and it couldn't get to the pruning right away. I responded by requesting an estimated date or time that his schedule would free up to do the work and he never responded. I'm disappointed that I don't know what happened to my tree or how to prevent it from happening again next spring. I also have to locate another company to do the pruning that I already spent my time and money discussing with Mr. Palmer. In person, the consultation was good, but the communication and follow up was very disappointing.
Description of Work: I contacted Mr. Palmer because a tree in my front yard appeared to have insect damage and I was concerned and wanted a professional to look at it.

He totally educated me about the tree and assured me that it would survive. I was impressed with his knowledge and his professionalism and, mosty importantly, he was not in a hurry even though it was a weekend evening and it had begun to storm. He also asked if there were any other tree I was concerned about. I analyze point of sale for my job and he would receive a triple star rating! Excellent value. The only negative was he was out of business cards which I would like to have for my file for the next time I need to contact him.
Description of Work: He came and inspected a tree that looked like it was dying.

Description of Work: Mr. John Palmer, and his associate Scott, of Planet Care evaluated the quality and potential risk liability of several large oak trees on my property. Their work was very thorough and knowledgeable, and was done in a professional manner as I had anticipated. I did not contract any landscaping, tree trimming, or tree removal services from this company. The meeting was just for the evaluation. I was told that they did not do tree removal, which was one of my needs. However, I did contact Planet Care later, via email on 5/8/14, for a recommendation of any company that might do tree trimming or removal services. I have yet to receive a reference from Planet Care for such services, which is somewhat disappointing. During the evaluation on 5/5/14, it was made clear to me that such recommendations did not align with Planet Care's way of doing business, yet I still felt that a little more professional courtesy would have been in order.

Mr. John Palmer is an ISA certified arborist. He did an outstanding job researching the condition of my parent's 70 year old norway spruce. He wrote up an accurate and thoroughly thought out assessment of the tree. He stayed objective and provided us with a lot of information. He was kind enough to hand deliver a copy to my parents. He took the extra steps and went beyond the call of duty to inform them about their tree. It is very important to hire an arborist to ensure that acceptable pruning has taken place according to ANSIA300 standards.
Description of Work: They assessed a norway spruce in my parent's backyard after their neighbor had it trimmed by a tree service.
