In fact, I've just contacted him to do some additional plumbing work in the bathroom. Description of Work: Joe has repaired/replaced numerous things around my house for years, including replacing the front porch floor. Most recently, he reattached a section of loose gutter on my roof, installed a new bathroom faucet, and repaired a leaky toilet.

He is prompt, reliable and has experience dealing with issues in older homes.He offered several valuable ideas regarding paint color and texture because he has dealt with less than perfect walls before and can anticipate problems. Joe also did work in my kitchen and basement last year and I plan to hire him again for a porch repair.

 + -1 moreJoe Antz was did an excellent job and was great to work with. I contacted him to perform a variety of tasks that needed completed in order to sell my house. He was able to give me an estimate even though he was very busy. Mid-way through the project the potential buyer requested a much more involved repair to a second floor porch. Joe was very flexible and was able to accomadate the changes and give a new estimate. After removing some of the old porch flooring and realizing that the initial floor was in good condition he was able to finish even quicker than expected and charged me less than estimated. Joe was straightforward, knowledgeable, and honest. I highly recommend Lakewood Home Repair Services Inc.
Description of Work: Repaired 2nd story roof porch– Removed/replaced/painted bottom aluminum siding, removed three layers of plywood and old roofing, remove original tongue and installed modified bitumen roof membrane over base sheet. Patched a hole in the hardwood floor of a closet. Replaced broken window pane. Replaced bottom two courses of lap siding on garage.

Description of Work: He kept promising to come to give an estimate and never got back to us. He did state he was very busy. I finally just gave up.

Description of Work: They demolitioned a wall between two carpets and repaired the space, and also did some plaster and drywall work in another room.

Also, he worked late in the evening to make sure the doors and hardware was installed properly. He is a very friendly and pleasant person who takes pride in his work.

 + -1 moreIt went great! Need to tell you that we had a huge party planned for a week later so the pressure was on to get this repaired. Joe was a true professional (and angel from heaven above) and helped save us goons from our measly attempt to repair this damage ourselves. He actually worked us into his already packed schedule so that this work would be completed in time for our party. He came everyday and laid down protective sheets so not to get the surrounding carpet or hardwood floors dirty as he traveled to and from the bathroom back down to his truck. He removed all the debris each evening and has really set the bar on how a true professional should perform. I now have him helping me with other projects around my rental property.
Description of Work: I had tiles that had fallen off my wall in the shower/bathtub area in my bathroom. This had led to dry rot and eventually a hole in that wall. This was completely my fault and now know that I should have listened to my mother. Had I just replaced the two tiles when they fell off (like she told me to) this would never have happened. But because I did not listen to her I ended up with a huge hole in my shower. Tried to repair the damage ourselves and realized we were way in over our head when we had a 3 1/2 ft. by 3 ft. gaping hole, exposed pipes and I could see my clothes hanging in the closet that was behind that wall. Did I mention that only 2 tiles originally fell off??? We were horrified by how extensive the damage was. So, this time I listened to good 'ol mom and signed up for Angie's List and found the name of Lakewood Home Repair. Joe saved the day by repairing the wall, retiling the wall and regrouting the entire area and making it better than new!

Description of Work: We had rotten dry wall behind tiling in our bathroom. Lakewood Home Repair removed the loose tiles, installed Wonderboard on existing stud framework, and then installed and grouted new tiles. I later used them to mount stair rails.

I have a duplex in Lakewood and he's installed kitchen flooring, replaced toilets, finished dry wall and many other odd jobs for me through the years. He's always professional, courteous and reasonably priced. He always has the customer's best interests in mind. He even let me watch him replace the counterweights in my old windows and taught me how to do it. That way, I could finish the rest of them on my own to save money. I HIGHLY recommend Joe Antz for any home repairs.

Description of Work: We had a water leak when we turned on our sprinkler system. Water was threatening to enter the basement. Joe identified the damaged pipe and replaced it. He also installed a better designed shut-off valve to reduce the possibility of this event occurring in the future.

 + 1 moreMr. Antz is VERY thorough and detailed with his estimates - written and in person. I had a large amount of work which I divided amongst 3 different contractor/handymen. Joe seemed very thorough, professional, and experienced. He was also the highest priced of the three contractors but had reviews stating he gave himself room to breath on his estimates and figured he was anticipating problems working on a 100 year old house! Mr. Antz completed the job in the time frame he had allotted himself.(3 weeks) Unfortunately - any small detail not listed on his estimate is an additional charge at the end of the job - which nearly cost me an add.$600.00! The work was well done for the level of a handyman - not a professional contractor. I paid specialty installation prices for a handyman who cannot compare in detail and speed!
Description of Work: Mr. Antz was hired to complete a portion of a new kitchen and bath for a rental property. In the bathroom he was to tear down panelling, refinish a clawfoot tub, and install mosiac tile to the wall surrounding the tub as well as to the floor. He also installed a bath fan. In the kitchen he was to remove and install about 8 ft of cabinetry (upper & lower), including a new dishwasher. He was also to install a soft wood parquet flooring including the subfloor. He also needed to replace some rotted wood below the toilet area in the bathroom and make some modification to the trap plumbing below the sink that he had not anticipated. I purchased most of the materials including all cabinetry, tile, etc.

 + 0 moreJoe is fantastic to work with. We have our last 2 homes remodeled and have worked with about 5 or 6 contractors, so we've had our fair share of mixed experiences. Joe is very reliable, detail-oriented, and most of all, easy to work with. We had another quote (because I couldn't find Joe's phone #) to do the window repair, which was more expensive, and the guy estimated that it was a 2-3 day job. I immediately searched back through my canceled checks to find Joe's business name and re-find him on Angie's List. Joe completed the window job in less than a day. Joe also suggested using a more durable material to prevent rotting in the future. My husband is a perfectionist and very demanding of contractors. He has also been very pleased with Joe's work. I would recommend Joe to anyone needing work done in their home.
Description of Work: This is the 3rd time we've used Joe. He patched some major holes in our basement paneling and replaced some rotted wood on a threshold below a large glass window outside.

HE RETURNED MY CALLS PROMPTLY, PROVIDED A DETAILED ESTIMATE, AND COMPLETED THE WORK IN THE ALLOTTED TIME. WHAT IMPRESSED MY HUSBAND AND I MOST WAS THE CLEAR COMMUNICATION OF POTENTIAL ISSUES THAT MIGHT ARISE AND WHAT SORT OF WORK WOULD BE NECESSARY IF THEY DID. JOE RECOGNIZED THAT THE SINK DRAIN WE PURCHASED WAS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO FASTEN SECURELY AND REPLACED IT WITH A BRASS DRAIN. IT WAS REASSURING TO KNOW THAT JOE HAD THE EXPERTISE TO DEAL WITH ANY ISSUES THAT MIGHT ARISE. JOE WAS PROFESSIONAL IN EVERY RESPECT.
