He said the mold was there due to clay tiles and we could just wipe it away. He said there was nothing we needed to do about the mold now. He was very honest. Other companies wanted to charge us $3000 to put up a fake wall system and he didn't charge a thing.
Description of Work: We had mold on our basement walls and he came to check it out.

I highly recommend that anyone considering waterproofing never have it done in the winter. My job was planned for late October. Integrity scheduled the job in early December & I had to delay it 2 weeks more because I had changed my work schedule to accomodate the October date. So I had trucks & mud in my yard on Christmas day. Despite the weather conditions, Steve & his crew did the best job they could. They had some setbacks such as ditches collapsing but they got most of the job done within 2 weeks. I had two problems with the job & neither involved Steve or his crew. I had to have my heat pump disconnected & moved. The HVAC contractor Steve hired told me that I had 2 freon leaks in my heat pump & I should not be running it. He offered to sell me a new one & I declined. I used my back-up furnace for the remainder of the winter & spent close to $800 more than I would have if my heat pump were working. In the spring when it was warm enough. I had my own HVAC contrator check out the heat pump. The only leak was from a valve that had the cap missing, the compressor was not leaking & the joint that the other HVAC contractor told me was patched & leaking turned out to be pipe sealant on a valve that was not leaking. The other problem I had was the condition of my property after the waterproofing was completed. Steve & his crew were very careful but my yard & driveway were damaged more than I thought they would be. It did not look anywhere near the photo at the Integrity website. This is one of the reasons why noone should have waterproofing done in the winter. Please note: The only reason I stated above that I would not use Integrity again is because I will never go through this experience again. My next house will be new construction with waterproofing done during construction.
Description of Work: Integrity performed the work as described at their website. However, the work performed did not agree with the contract. I got 2 clean-outs instead of 4 & part of the back-fill was clay from my yard instead of all topsoil.

The sump pump is bringing in air. They suggested it was because the down-spout and gutter connection wasn t sealed. So they caulked the down-spout and the sump pump is still bringing in air. The building inspector stated that the down-spout and gutter connection had nothing to do with the sump pump bringing in air. Perhaps it is because the bubble wrap was not applied properly? I did not want my foundation buried (Bay Village code requires *' from bottom of siding to top of soil). The bubble plastic was applied very loosely and no attempt was made to close gaps between seams. The severe wall cracks were to be filled with an expanding sealant. The cracks are still gaping open. The workers cut the heat exchanger stack off my house without asking...filled my house with carbon monoxide...they were abusive and said it was a dryer vent--it was not. They did pay to have that fixed, but had no regard for the harm they did. They were also careless about my landscaping and plants; the front lawn was not properly protected from the heavy truck loads repeatedly crossing. Speciman plants were driven over. I have contacted them a several times to fix the problems, but they were rude, claimed they are finished. . They won t admit fault of the sump pump problem. There was much conflict over written contract measurements and the actual footage of work done. Other disagreements of work done on sprinkler system....IntegrityWaterproofing tore it up after the owner said they know what they are doing...I guess not.
Description of Work: Was hired to waterproof my basement because it had cracks on the floor and walls and water was seeping through.I stressed concern especially of the floor cracks and moisture.

Response from Integrity Waterproofing
This was the absolute worst experience we have ever had with a customer, and in fact the only bad experience we have ever had with a customer. This member was extremely abusive and uncooperative. She stopped work on two occasions because she was not up to having us on her property. When we were able to work, this member made extremely inappropriate comments to both myself and my crew, concerning issues of an extremely personal nature. We had 3 inspections with the city and passed every inspection. The job, even with the delays caused by this member for no apparent reason, was completed to Integrity's excellent standards, and now the member does not want to pay. Unfortunately the issues go much deeper than I care to elaborate. My hope is that other members will examine all reports on Integrity Waterproofing and come to the conclusion that this report is absolutely without merit.

The north side of the house had been waterproofed. The basement walls in the house (built in 1918) are plaster and the plaster was deteriorating. I wanted to waterproof the south side of the house before repairing the inside walls. On the first day of work, Steve Allen came with the crew to introduce the crew manager and the workers. The crew was very concerned about what flowers and bushes should be saved when they are moved. As they began excavating, the excess dirt was taken offsite. As with all jobs in this house there were several surprises. The first surprise was the foundation is made of a combination of stone, brick and terra cotta. A later surprise was the south side of the house is lower than the north side which required a change in the way the drain tile is installed. This company uses a method of excavating around the foundation, applying a coating which dries to rubber and installing a layer of material to allow water to run away from the foundation. The local inspector stated he'd never seen such a well done job. The week before this work was done new gutters were installed. In the process one drain was discovered to be blocked. Integrity replaced this drain in a cost effective way. The project changed when it was discovered the south side of the house is lower than the north side. A different route was required for the drain tile. Because this was a surprise, Steve gave me a lower price on the additional work. I imagine some contractors would not mention this to the homeowner. I'm glad I was told about this and the job could be done correctly. I was given a daily update on the progress of the job. The crew was very friendly and we had an excellent working relationship.
Description of Work: I spoke to two companies for this job. I chose Integrity Waterproofing because of the method used for basement waterproofing.

Steve Allen and his sons run a good business here. Weather caused extreme delays in getting to this job, but when they came. They were well prepared and experienced and did the job right, not an inside drain with sump job like other companies had insisted on doing. They had to tear up and replace an ornate stone patio to get at the foundation. They also ran into very hard clay soil which made the digging very difficult and tedious, but the job was done to my satisfaction, with no major delays.

Waterproofing is a big, messy job. It's also expensive. So if you're going to do it, do it right and dig from the outside. I interviewed eight companies for this job, and only considered two of them. I chose Integrity because they guarantee their work for 20 years. That's a long time! The actual work took a bit longer than expected, but I was kept up to date on progress. The crew is extremely friendly. The work was excellent, I was given daily reports and made daily inspections. The cleanup at the end was decent but then, it's pretty hard to put everything back the way it was after a huge job like this. The owner, Steve, stopped by often and his wife, Pam, was always there to answer my calls. I highly recommend Integrity. Bring on the rain!

We got two estimates and chose Integrity Waterproofing. When they first wanted to schedule it we were going to be out of town, and even though they didn't have to enter the house, they said that they preferred to do the work while we were there and able to see what was happening. It took a while because there was so much rain after that, that they had to delay coming out and had more pressing cases, but they were totally responsive and kept us informed. They did a quick job, did exactly what they said they were going to do, cleaned up well and were polite. A piece of their machinery accidentally dented a part of our siding. They arranged to have it replaced within a week. NOTE: We may be moving and told both Integrity and the other company from which we got an estimate, with the comment that we weren't eager to spent a lot of money. The other company rep said that cleaning our gutters might help temporarily and we could "say" to buyers that we'd done something. I thought that if he was suggesting we be dishonest with others, he could as easily be dishonest with us. Both company reps had said that if water was getting in, the filled gutters are not the basic problem. So, we went with Integrity Waterproofing and weren't sorry.
Description of Work: One side (wall) of our basement was leaking. They tore up the bushes, dug a trench outside the house on that side, reinforced the wall, fixed clogged drain pipes, and filled in the area with top soil.

Very happy as he advised us of the real potential problems and how to handle them. Gave us the name of a drain contractor. If we end up needing waterproofing, we will use Integrity.
Description of Work: Steve came out right on time (I was late!!) for an inspection and estimate of a water problem on the wall of my rental. He looked and listened to what had happened-water in the basement after a rain, never before-and advised us to have the drains inspected and opened if necessary BEFORE spending money on waterproofing that might not be the solution. Very freindly and professional.

Steve came out right away to look at the job. His bid was right in line with other companies. I was impressed by the fact that he said my job fit into the 5-10% where interior water control is appropriate. He could have tried to sell me a far more expensive exterior job, but he didn't. During his first visit we spent over an hour talking about water problems and my foundation specifically. His level of expertise and his knowledge base are superior. There's a good reason why he's so busy that you have to schedule about a month in advance. It's worth a month's wait for a proper waterproofing job. Steve explained the entire system and showed me all the materials he would use. He showed me the differences between types of interior waterproofing jobs and demonstrated how his system, which includes a couple of extra protections, would perform better. He recommended a high-quality sump with a battery backup. His workers were able to schedule the job a little earlier than planned. They came out and did the entire job in good time. The work is first quality and the refinished floor areas are perfect. I am extremely happy with the job and would call Steve again (but I know I won't need to). The only reason I gave B's in two categories is because they had to come out after the job a couple times because they forgot to rehook the washer/dryer and remove some concrete they left outside. One time they were about 45 minutes late. The most important thing in a job like this is an honest contractor who knows exactly what he's doing and won't try to convince you to buy the most expensive remedy. Steve is exactly that.

Due to a medical emergency in his family, it took several tries before he actually made it out to our home. We are SO pleased that we were persistent! Immediately upon his arrival, he took a look around the house and noted that our raingutters had water marks and most likely had overflowed in the past. After a very thorough inspection of interior and exterior foundation, storm sewer location, testing the gutters for backup with a garden hose, etc he determined that our real problem was a plugged up lateral line leading to our storm sewer and not necessarily a leaky foundation. He referred us to a sewer cleaning company that did good work and said he would return if they did not resolve the problem. We contacted the sewer company and they were out the next day. They did find lots of tree roots plugging our line and it took 2 hours to clean it out. To date, our basement remains dry despite heavy rains! Steve is knowledgeable and ethical. He had the expertise to determine what the 'real' problem was instead of just fixing the symptoms, thereby saving us thousands of dollars. Integrity Waterproofing truly does do business with integrity! We highly recommend them and would call them again in a minute for any other problem.
Description of Work: After a huge rainstorm we had a flood in the basement which we never had before. Carpeting was soaked and the paint was buckling up from the painted concrete floor. I had already obtained 2 estimates for foundation waterproofing to be done but there were wide discrepancies in the scope of the project. I contacted Steve as a 3rd bid in an effort to determine what was the best thing to do.

Tom, Clark and crew were OUTSTANDING. They were professional, friendly, and kept us in the loop with respect to what was happening on the job. Basically, they are the reason for our good review of this company. Communication with the office is seriously lacking. We signed a contract in early March, were told the work would be done by the end of April - it was done in mid-June... We called the office on numerous occasions and practically had to beg for them to return phone calls or give us updates or information about when our job would be scheduled. Since they were obviously running 2 months behind, it was their responsibility to call us and let us know that they were not running on the schedule that we were originally given. Then, I was finally told the first week of June that the crew would arrive the second week of June and that someone would call me Friday to let me know whether to expect them at the beginning or end of the next week. No one called...I called back and was told there was a mistake - my job was not until the end of June. After getting upset, the woman in the office went and looked at something, then came back and said, "Oh, wait, yeah, you are scheduled for the end of this week." She seemed very disorganized. I also had to call them repeatedly because, due to the April date we were originally given, I scheduled a landscaper and deck builder to come in early June, thinking the waterproofing would be long over with, and had to continually put them both off because I could not get answers from Integrity's office about when they might show up. Our job was pushed back 3 times - from end of April to mid May, and eventually mid June. Then, after the job was finished, Steve called and asked to stop by and check out the job later the same day...but did not tell me he was also wanting to pick up payment that day. Since I did not have $3600 just sitting around he had to come back...insisted on coming back that night....I rearranged my evening and he showed up more than an hour late to pick up payment when I could have put it in the mail and he would have had it next day. A little pushy given how long it took us to get responses to our phone calls, and how long it took for them to get the job done. AND - we asked for a written copy of the 20 year warranty (NOT just the invoice which has the language and shows what we paid for the job) so that we could have it to give to the new owners when we sell our house - that was supposed to be mailed over 3 weeks ago and we are still waiting for it. Basically, we are pleased with the actual work, but Steve and Co have Tom and his crew to thank for that. Communication with Integrity's office and management personnel leaves a lot to be desired. I would recommend them based on their finished product, but, be prepared to be frustrated when dealing with the office. Communication is not good - in fact, my experience was that it was nonexistent unless I barraged the office with voice mails.

THE CONTRACT WAS SIGNED IN EARLY MARCH AND THIS MEMBER WAS TOLD THE WORK WOULD BE COMPLETED IN APRIL, WEATHER PERMITTING. WELL, THE WEATHER DID NOT COOPERATE, APRIL WAS TERRIBLE AND MAY WAS THE WETTEST MAY ON RECORD. WHILE MOST OF OUR CUSTOMERS UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS UNSAFE TO HAVE WORKERS IN A TRENCH UNDER THESE CONDITIONS, AND UNDERSTOOD THE DELAY, THIS MEMBER APPARENTLY DID NOT. WE DO KEEP RECORDS OF OUR CALLS AND LOGS INDICATE THAT WE DID REMAIN IN CONTACT WITH THIS MEMBER. WE WERE ALSO TOLD BY THIS MEMBER THAT OUR DEALINGS WERE TO BE WITH HER, AND SO I APPROACHED HER FOR PAYMENT AND HE BECAME UPSET. I THINK THERE IS ALWAYS ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT, AND I WILL LOOK AT THE COMMUNICATION ASPECT, HOWEVER I WILL NOT HAVE MY GUYS WORK IN UNSAFE CONDITIONS, FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF TRYING TO STAY ON SCHEDULE.

We just moved into our house about a year ago and discovered damp water spots on the concrete basement floor when we removed the carpeting that was down there. We called Steve to come and take a look and give us some idea of what might be the cause and what the possible fixes are. He did just that. Steve spoke with knowledge of older homes in Cleveland Heights and Lakewood and advised that the water spots were probably due to the thin layer of concrete flooring common in these homes. He quickly assessed the rest of the basement as well and discussed options with us, which did not involve waterproofing. It was refreshing that he didn't push his services on us, as others have done. He seemed very knowledgeable, honest, and reasonable and we would strongly recommend him to others.

I was extremely pleased with the prompt and courteous response to my initial request for a quotation. After reviewing the problem, Steve explained his proposed solution without any high pressure sales tactics. I was assured the problem was minor. His team came to work on schedule. They were very courteous and efficient. They worked easily with another team I had hired to do some major landscaping in the same area. If this had been in the afternoon I might have understood that they could have been a little behind, but not in the morning and the weather was fine. At first I said it was fine and they could still come, but the more I thought about it the more I decided that I did not like this work structure.
