I could not be happier with the work done by Gibson General Contracting. From beginning to end, it was a pleasure working with James and his crew. James returned my initial call promptly, was on time for appointments, sourced the (costly) flooring I requested, kept me updated on progress and the work site was spotless at the end of the day. I will not hesitate to call him again. Perhaps the most refreshing aspect of working with James is his honesty. I originally called him for an estimate on a late season roofing job. His first words after looking at the roof were, "You've got an almost new roof on here." After further inspection of the trouble spot above a bay window, James told me that the previous roofer had done a good job and that the roof was not the source of the problem. Contrast that with the opinion of the second roofer (highly rated on Angie's list) who took a look and told me to call him in the spring because I needed a complete tear-off. Oh, really? So, again, very pleased with Gibson General Contracting and recommend them without reservation.

Well. I came home one day and my gutters, which had been full of leaves, were 100% clean. High quality job with no time required by me. Very happy.

The communication was outstanding. We were kept informed about the schedule, and work performed. Did a great job. We will use this company again. Messages were left via phone contact. They came and did the job.

Work was done very well. Painting matched the existing work perfectly.

Our basement flooded this summer and after getting jerked around for over 6 months by another contracting company, I had enough and called several of the contractors rated highly on Angie's list. We decided to go with Gibson. They did a wonderful job and were by far the most reasonably priced. The owner, James, is a wonderfully nice guy and was willing to accommodate at every step. He even caught a few crucial things in the estimate stage that several other (higher priced) contractors completely missed. He responded to my emails and phone calls extremely fast (faster than any of the other contractors) and he also provided an estimate in 1 day and was able to start the work the following week. The whole thing was minimal delays and really great work. We will absolutely give Gibson additional work in the future. They do a great job, work hard, and their price is definitely one of the best. You'd be foolish to go elsewhere. Thank you again James to you and your crew for all the wonderful work.

Professional,quick, thorough.

I contacted Mr. Gibson and explained what kind of work that was needed in my basement. He asked me to send him an e-mail with all of my information which I did. I called him twice afterwards but received no response. This was several weeks ago so he has had plenty of time to contact me. I am in business also and communication is important. He failed at this.

I had to call him to try to reschedule. He said no and he wasn’t coming out because it wasn’t worth it. He wouldn’t come out just for the $99 gutter cleaning.

Return my calls and emails in a timely manner. Had some communcation issues in the beginning. for the most part things ended up well .Only complaint needed him to come back to touch something up he never came back,called twice.

There was a miscommunication on the estimate appointment. A brief call to James and the issue was resolved. He came out immediately. What a very pleasant man! On the day that the work was supposed to begin, his team did not arrive early in the morning, as we were told. A phone call to James is all it took to get an update on when they would arrive. His crew worked for the remainder of the day and finished all the work with the exception painting. The next morning they did not arrive early as promised, but another phone call to James, and things were back on track. We are very happy with the work that was done. James and his crew were very pleasant and the quality of the work is great. My only wish is that communication when there is a delay should be initiated by James and his crew instead of the customer needing to call and ask for updates. We will definitely use Gibson Contracting again in the future.

Owner of company is wonderful to work with - he was very responsive and conscientious. He also accommodated my need to have someone meet me at my home at 715am so I could get into the office early. The work was performed in an acceptable manner - they did what they were hired to do. I was concerned over a couple minor things after the interior painting - when I communicated these to the owner, he promptly fixed them. Very professional company - and one that I trust (which is hard to come by these days).

We had three contractors give us quotes on our garage repairs, and James was by far the most professional and reasonably priced. There was a hole in the garage roof as well as termite damage and rotted wood on one side of the garage. James and his team replaced the rotted wood, while preserving what wasn't damaged, and put on a new roof. They also noticed that the gutter on the back of the garage was too short, which was contributing to the moisture problems, and they replaced it. They were able to do all of this for under $1,000. We've had quite a bit of rain lately, and I haven't noticed any new moisture in the garage. I will definitely use Gibson General Contracting again.

Jim was very responsive on coupon for roof inspection and gutter cleaning for $250. My gutters were clean so he applied $100 of coupon to $500 estimate for repairs. Being that he could only do the repairs on a Sat. it took 3 months due to rain,heat,etc. on weekends. During this time there was no communication from Gibson re a potential date, so I called him in Aug to makie sure he didn't forget about me. It took a week for a response, but finally a date was set. Jim didn't write up an estimate at initial eval. which I would rec that he do in the future. I relied on my memory re the estimate and he agreed so it was not a problem. I would also recommentd that he improve in the organization and communication procedures with his office re his clients. They were always polite and very professional. and it is easy to establish rapport with him. Since my repairs were not an emergency everything was done satisfactorially. Excellent work. I would use him again.

My large, old barn had numerous rotten boards, very bad doors and a leaky roof. I also had a small shed beside that had been painted badly two years earlier by someone else. James and his crew stripped the old shingles and applied new felt and shingles. He rebuilt two new barn doors with frames, and replaced many rotten boards throughout. They scraped off all the chipped paint, gave the barn two coats of fresh paint and trimmed it according to my specifications. Then, they painted and trimmed the shed to match. While they had their dumpster on site, they also removed a few items that were too heavy for me to lift. The job was done according to plan and my property was left in good condition. The workers were polite and efficient. My barn and shed look wonderful!

It was okay. I didn't get the entire two hour deal. I would use them again for simple things, not for anything like plumbing or electrical or anything like that.

The devil was in the details. Let me list a few of the issues. The bathroom sink was replaced and now it is clogged and will require a plumber. A mirror was removed from the bathroom and not replaced. The toilet bolts were left uncovered. The light switch covers were not replaced ($5 part). The old dirty covers were put back on the clean paint. Kitchen cabinets were replaced with a place for a microwave above the stove. No electrical connection was included to connect the microwave. Any one of these things seems like no big deal, but on the whole there are just too many little things I keep noticing. Unfortunately I had a hospital stay right after the work was started. I really appreciate Mr. Gibson working with me during the hospital stay to complete the work. Perhaps some of this issues would not have come about had I been available during the construction.

From prompt arrival to overall work, they did an absolutely fabulous job. They accommodated my paint brand and color request and the quality of work was absolutely great. After some hits and misses with a vent-free gas fireplace, the rooms looked worn and dingy from the fireplace (I really do need to have someone take a look at that!). What a difference a couple of days and some quality work can do! Will definitely work with Gibson General Contracting again. Thank you for the great job!

We were so pleased with the work James Gibson did replacing flooring and fixtures at my parents' house in February 2013 that we hired him again. The work replacing the tar surface roof became a much bigger job when James discovered the roof was shot from rotting. James and his crew finished this extensive rebuilding job in an efficient three days. They were very hard working, courteous, and professional. The roof looks great and no leaks! The window installation was performed a couple weeks later. Again, excellent work and one of James' installers was kind enough to install a window unit air conditioner my parents had bought.

I paid him $149.95 upfront and he said he was supposed to return in one week, but he never showed. I've been trying to contact him by phone and email, but have yet to hear anything back. Last I spoke with him he said he was short staffed, but since then not a word. I just want the work done or my money back.

excellent job for the price

We hired James to do what we thought would be a simple replacement of some of the decking on our porch. When he and his crew started taking the porch apart, they found that the entire porch needed to be rebuilt. Also, the front of the house had extensive water damage at the front and needed a new sill plate. James kept us informed of every problem he encountered and discussed all the options we had for repairs. He rebuilt the porch, replaced the sill plate, fixed hoes that were left in the front of the house, and generally made the front more stable and safe. He also repaired some bad gutter work that may have contributed to the water damage. Finally, he re-planed one interior door so it would fit properly, and replaced another. We are very happy with the work done, as well as the communication James kept with us through the process. Although the work ended up being more than twice what we had originally expected, the finished porch is gorgeous, and more importantly safe. We would happily recommend James to anyone without reservation.

I bought one $80 Honey to Do coupon. When Mr. Gibson came out, he explained amount of work that $80 would cover. We later agreed that the work would not be covered by the coupon and said that he would charge another $80. Work was scheduled and two workmen arrived. Work was completed in more time that had been anticipated. Everything was done to my satisfaction. They were very professional.

When James came to my home to give me an estimate, he was very professional and thorough. He gave several suggestions on materials to use and new measurements to make sure that the stairs were up to code. His office manager was very friendly and timely in sending a written estimate. Upon receipt of my down payment, I was contacted and the date of the job was set. Due to a cancellation, the date was much sooner than originally estimated. James and his crew arrived as expected and began work immediately. They were very polite, courteous and professional. I experience minimal disruptions through the day. When the work was done, I inspected the work. James explained what was done and what was needed in terms of maintenance. The crew did an excellent job of cleaning and disposing of the materials. Overall, I was very pleased with the James, the crew (which included his brothers) and the quality of the work done. I was so pleased that I asked James to provide an additional estimate for work on my home (which was provided two days later!)

Everything went great. The guys did every little thing I asked. And they were fun to have around. What more could you ask for

He arrived promptly to give an estimate on repairing several boards on the porch. When we agreed to his estimate he returned to pickup stain that we had on hand and then purchased 4 tongue and groove flooring boards, prestained them and returned two days later to install them. Removal of the 3 old boards and installation of 3 new boards was completed in about 1 hour.
