Description of Work: Awful! I really hate people who are highly rated and they can't even return an email for estimate! We contacted john about 6 weeks ago, and we were able to get a hold of him! He gave us appt on a weekday but he did not show up! We called him he apologized as he had us double booked with other customer! An he rescheduled us for Thursday pm, and we had to drive to the house( as we have not moved in yet) we called him on the way to confirm and he said he forgot as he was taking his daughter to practice!! So we asked him if he was really interested to gain our business as I did not really see much potential in this way to get any job done! Finally he came and took the measurements of the floor and said he will email us back with the estimate! Which of course never happened till now! I'm just frustrated with this kind of service! If you are really not interested in serving customers they waste your time and ours?!

Description of Work: I contacted this company to refinish damaged floors for one of my customers, and they agreed to estimate the damage and contact my customer, but they never followed through after I sent them a work order to perform services, nor would he return any of my phone calls. Very unprofessional company, and I would not reccomend using this company. Imagine if they ruined your floors and didnot come back to fix them after you paid them. Should be removed from Angies List.

Description of Work: Remove carpeting in LR/DR/Hallway and 3 bedrooms, sand, and refinish. The padding was fused to the floors. Also, installed matching hardwood floor in kitchen and entry hallway. John added sanding and putting a finish onto my parquet flooring in the den.

+ -1 moreWe've had John refinish wood floors in our home before and he did such a great job, we called him back for this second job. My comments reflect those of other members who note his attention to detail, job site cleanliness and overall kindness. The work he performed is wonderful and we'll be sure to call him again when we need more floors refinished! He's also incredibly punctual, when he says they'll start at 9 am, they start at 9 am!
Description of Work: They refinished the wood floors in a bedroom and hallway on our second floor. Approx. 165 square feet. The floors were previously covered with carpet. Approx. age of the wood floors, 50-60 years.

+ 0 moreFirstly, it was difficult to get that initial call-back. But once John came for the estimate, it was a great experience. He knew his stuff, and my fianc and I are both artists, so having someone do the floors who we could debate color and lighting issues off of was great! Sanding - unbelievable, no mess. They even sanded and finished the closets. Stain - they left stain chips, then even sampled about 7-8 on the floor so we could see. We chose Golden Brown. They put an extra coat on because it looked better and was the right thing to do. I love that they realized we had white oak and broke away from the "standard" number. Poly Coat - wee chose matte finish, it looks great. They custom built transitions to fit the doorways between the kitchen and floors. I highly recommend Gerwitz Refinishing. We will be calling them when we are ready to do the upstairs, even if they don't call-back right away.

Description of Work: My den floor (225 square feet) was sanded and refinished. John also plugged some holes that had been made for cable TV wiring.

+ -1 moreJohn came out and did an estimate. He told us our floors were in good condition and told us to pick out a stain color from a website. He informed us he would be out of town and his crew would do the floor. It took him a while to return our call. I believe we had to call him back again before getting a response. I was suprised to see 2 young guys doing the work when I came home. The sanding was done well and SUPER clean. Probably as close to dust-less as it gets. All work was done quick and the workers cleaned up well. I am a little disappointed that the stain was not evenly applied. There are two streaks on the floor (one right in the path of traffic). But for the price and time, it was worth it.
Description of Work: 160 sq ft. $3.25/sq ft. Hardwood floors sanded, some cracks filled, wood stained, and sealed. Included a matching floor divider to put over where the carpet and hardwood meet.

HE WAS ABLE TO FIT ME IN HIS BUSY SCHEDULE TO GET MY ROOM DONE PRIOR TO COMPANY COMING. THEY USE THE BEST FLOOR REFINISHING PRODUCTS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. HE DESERVES A HAPPINESS AWARD!!
