European Handyman

Description of Work: Wonderful work by a great guy. Installed lights and a water purifier and caulked around some leaking windows. All work was performed perfectly.

Description of Work: I was so excited to have found The European Handyman on Angie's List. I had attempted in the past to find someone who would be willing to lower a snack bar area in my kitchen and could find no one until I called Deitmer. He lowered the wall, reinforced the wall, moved electrical outlets and repainted the whole area to match the existing wall. He was very punctual and if he had to change his schedule he would call me to let me know what time he would arrive. He kept me informed of all he was doing and explained everything per my request throughout the whole process. He brought all necessary supplies with him prepared to work and cleaned up after he was done. He was polite, professional and very knowledgeable about carpentry and electric work. I would definitely hire him again and would definitely recommend him to others.

Description of Work: Mr Dietmar Senft repaired two holes in two different ceiling areas. These required dry wall patches, taping, and spackling. He will return to finish the two patches. Mr Senft looked at two other trouble areas but he does not do exterior siding nor roof repairs. However, he did give me his evaluation of the problems that I appreciate very much. Mr Senft of European Handyman keeps in contact by phone and e-mail. I did not have to continually keep after him. I am very confident in his ability and responsiveness. In addition, he is honest with you. At least, he was with me. Thanks Angie's List for that Big Deal Special.

Description of Work: STILL HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED BY THE PROVIDER. EXCHANGED SEVERAL PHONE MESSAGES - HE IS ALWAYS ON THE JOB.

Description of Work: The contractors phone can not take messages. The work has not been done. We cant even get hold of the person. So much for professionalizm.

Description of Work: I responded to an Angie's List deal and hired European Handyman to install four ceiling fans in my home. Mr. Senft arrived promptly, got straight to work, was conscience and courteous about keeping doors closed to keep pets inside and generally just impressed me with his no-nonsense but helpful attitude. I thought my job was going to be straightforward and simple but, as it turned out, one of the ceiling fan installations required some additional work - the installation of a ceiling fan bracket and some other items which required Mr. Senft to not only go out and get some additional supplies, but also move items in my garage and crawl into my attic. I felt very badly about that and told Mr. Senft that he did not have to finish that fan installation if he did not have the time to do so or was inconvenienced in any way by the trip for supplies or the work required to get into the attic. He did complete the job, though, and I'm extremely grateful. (I compensated him for both the additional supplies and the additional time needed to complete the job.) Amazingly, everywhere he worked in my home, including the garage, was left in perfect condition. You would never have known anyone had even been in the house. I was really pleased, grateful and impressed with Mr. Senft's services, professionalism and thoroughness. I hope he will be willing to work with me again in the future.

Description of Work: Dietmar was very nice, but his estimate, given by phone, was very high. He was very clear that he charged $50/hr, which is already quite high. He did not want to consider the Angie's List Coupon. For a number of miscellaneous tasks, his number was $1100. When I asked him how long he thought the job would take, he said "a day, maybe more" which comes out to way more than $50/hr! I told him I thought it was high, and I asked him to break it down for me in writing, and he quickly brought over a paper with the list of tasks and $1100 at the bottom, with no breakdown of any kind. I don't think he even worked it out for himself, because he couldn't defend it. How could I commit to an estimate like that? In addition some of his suggestions were a little strange. For example, I needed to move a thermostat and he suggested I mount it on a piece of furniture. I wanted a wood valence over the sink in my kitchen and he wanted to use pine, even when I told him 3 times I thought a more stable cabinet grade wood would be better. He said "no, we will use pine." He doesn;t have a clipboard or business card or written estimates or even calloused hands. He seems young, and had a different career before this - - I'm not sure how experienced he is. I am not sure why he feels he can charge so much.

Description of Work: Dietmar is the best. he has done workl for us over the last 2-3 years, on our rental properties, our home, and customizing our rv (i'am a quad, and dietmar helped redesign and rebuild the interior). he is honest, fair, and personable.

Description of Work: He replaced a door, door frame, tub, toilet and sink. He also did some electrical and tile work.

Description of Work: Very skilled at his craft. Honest. He will complete another $300 job before he is finished. Courteous and prompt. His skills are in high demand, so small jobs will have to be scheduled to work into his major jobs.
